  1. I love these threads here on CC. They are coming up now and then. So much fun!

I look forward to bring my at that time 2 year old son in YC in February! He seemed to enjoy his first cruise, and I will do my best for him to enjoy our upcoming cruises in October and February.

I noticed something interesting: Our son was on his first cruise when he was 7 months old. It was with Celebrity last year. We had no issues what to ever! In front we feared a lot of grumpy other passengers based on the negative attitude in a ton of posts and threads here at Cruise CRITIC. Onboard we didnt meet a single negative fellow passenger - just smiles all the way. Maybe Cruise CRITIC forum doesnt represent the average cruise passenger after all :)

  2. MSC is one thing - other ships is another factor as well. We did the big mistake of not prebook any transfer after a cruise ending i Barcelona, and got stuck in a LOOOOOONG taxi que. Luckily a passenger we got to know during the cruise had prebooked transfer, and invited us to share. Thanks to him we made our flight..

  3. Does any cruise line provide baby food????? The 8 month old infant is too young to be on a cruise.

Our son was on his first cruise when he was 7 months old. It was with Celebrity. Packed with us all the baby food etc from Norway. Not much hassle - just an extra suitcase.

    No issues what so ever!

In front we feared alot of grumpy other passengers based on the negative attitude towards children here at Cruise Critic. Onboard we didnt meet a single negative fellow passenger - just smiles all the way! Maybe Cruise Critic forum doesnt represent the average cruise passenger after all:)

  4. We'll be on Poesia in 4 weeks time, if there's anything specific you think you want to know. We'll be in an Aurea balcony cabin, so will have MyChoice dining.

Looking forward to a review then! :) My wife, son (1,5 years old) and myself is sailing on Poesia in September next year from Copenhagen to Genoa. (Actually, we will start the vacation with a "mini cruise" with DFDS Pearl Seaways from Oslo to Copenhagen the night before the cruise. )

  5. It's not a question of affording it. Water shouldn't be difficult to get. I'm perfectly fine with tap water but had great difficulty getting it on other MSC ships. I'll actually be going to Norway (Bergen) later this month.

Is it really difficult to get? Its being served - and then added to the bill. Not hard at all!

Enjoy Bergen! Be aware of HIGH prices at "Bryggen"!!!!

  6. Been to Civitavecchia couple of times, and tried out a few different restaurants. One of our favorites is "Ristorante Pizzeria da Baffone". Nothing fancy, few steps away from San Giorgio*. Good Italian food.

    * They really need to renovate the rooms soon..

  7. This will be our 1st cruise on MSC & we will be on the SEASIDE in OCT. I keep reading about YACHT CLUB, what is it, a cabin, a status or a dinner you buy? We will BLACK status due to our D+ rating on RCL

    "An all-inclusive sanctuary of refinement

Discover a private and exclusive area only for those sailing in MSC Yacht Club. Where you can indulge in the luxury of a private club, while enjoying access to the myriad of recreation and entertainment possibilities throughout the rest of the ship. "

  8. I have read reviews that go from one extreme to the other. So I’m reaching out to other MSC cruisers to give me a better grasp of what we’re dealing with. MSC is owned by an Italian company (I think); not American. Does that make MSC ships and how they run things a lot different? Can you give me the pros and cons of sailing with MSC or should I stick with an American line....maybe RCL???

Sure do appreciate all your suggestions!!!

    Just some information:

Royal Caribbean was founded in...Norway. 14% of the stocks is still owned by Awilhelmsen based in... Oslo, Norway. (Biggest single shareholder..)

The headquarter might be in Miami, but the company is incorporated in...Liberia.

Most of their ships is as American as.. well.. me. They are built in Finland, France and Germany. Most of them are registred in Bahamas..

So, lets be honest: Royal Caribbean is international - not American..

( ..and I didnt even go into the amount of US employees ON their ships.. for example captains..:) )

  9. :)

You should know!! Didn't Norway have a butter crisis at Christmas time some years ago? I believe I remember Danes making a fortune selling butter in small packages to panicking Norwegians. :)

Also: Nine pages??? I have only one.

    "Page 9 of 9" - So yeah..

As I said - the little things.. :)

In Norway we get all kind of silly crisis going on. Living in Norway is basically the same as if it was possible to live "The Cruise Critic Forum" = It is all about first world problems..
