So someone is having a seizure and they should contact the insurance company before being take down to the medical center?🤔

UK Insurance does have in the T&C that you need to contact them ASAP to authorise treatment if it looks like it's going to be pricey. I think it's so they can rule out pre-existing conditions that you might not have told them about etc. and make sure the patient is covered.

Not having medical travel insurance is an american thing. For us brits i would say 99% of people get travel insurance. Even though the vast majority will not use it for the sake of coverage its worth it. My travel insurance for a family of three is £158 a year and covers medical cost of £2 million GBP. I also do NOT need to pay up front. the insurance pays as long as you contact them at the time and they authorise paying for the treatment.

I'd be interested to know what RCI would do if our UK Insurers promised to pay them via the phone.

The only incident I've had with the medical facility is that my girlfriend became unwell about 5 years ago onboard (continuous vomiting / faint). Needed an IV and monitoring for an hour or so. Then felt better. Bill was around $900. It was charged to my card and I claimed back from the insurance once we got back to the UK.

In a scenario of thousands of $$$ I'd like to know if they'd accept a UK insurer paying them remotely.

On Oasis last week I thought the food was very good.  The MDR food was consistently good and service was fast and friendly.  The Turkey dinner was a large portion of meat one night that I struggled to finish.

The WindJammer was the usual stuff, nothing exciting or bad, apart from the desserts- how do they manage to make something look so nice and taste MEH!

Overall I had no complaints with the food or the service.

I know someone who was on Oasis last week that has said similar. Really enjoyed it.

For contrast, I know someone who is on Oasis this week who has said the food is the worst they've every experienced on any cruise! Strange. They did say they've been mentioning all their issues to the staff rather than just keeping it quiet but said it's bland etc.

  4. There is no need to use the trainline. There is zero benefit over using one of the operator websites and you get charged a booking fee.

Use https://www.avantiwestcoast.co.uk/ pay exactly the same price without the booking fee.

The timetable for 23rd June is not yet confirmed so you can't book yet though.

  5. Yup. Another vote for Dublin. We landed in Dublin at 11.20am and took off for Newark at 1.00pm ! You've got to book it as a 'through ticket' via Aer Lingus for it all to work though.

I was panicking with the short connection time but as the initial flight was on time it was no drama. If the first flight had been late I imagine they'd have put us on the JFK flight.

  6. It's not an escape room as such, but more a room with some puzzles in you need to solve in order unlock a box with a medal in (I think it was) which means you win.

When we did it they said not many teams were able to complete it due to the difficulty. We completed it with about a minute to spare. It was challenging.

I prefer the actual escape rooms though.

I only did it once on Oasis, but found it really slow- maybe I didn't lean back and tuck the elbows as much as I should have, but I found it fun... just pretty slow.  I think on Utopia they are adding rollers or something to keep you moving...and some see through panels in the slide.

Agreed. Promises a lot but found it slow/

  8. Also got off Explorer last Sunday. Was actually one of our most favourite cruises. Ship felt very 'fun' and really enjoyed it.

I've suggested in the post cruise survey they look to update the quiz questions / music clips they use as I'm sick of hearing the same 20 tracks for the past 3 years!

Food is subjective, but both of us found the dining room excellent on this occasion. Food was hot and tasty, service could have been a little quicker but wasn't a problem.

Oh, and we really enjoyed Perry Grant too 😉 Totally different piano man style than other ships we've been on.

  9. Regardless of if it was transferred to the original agent or not, UK T&C don't allow price adjustments once the booking is made (although I thought you were allowed 1 price adjustment for an onboard booking. Maybe someone else knows).

You could look to 'upgrade' to the next cabin class up if that's cheaper than the rate you've currently got as they do allow that.
