  1. Not sure how this thread got to the Jamaica board. Nassau is not in Jamaica.

However, walking along the street past the colonial Hilton hotel is very safe. Yes there are vendors on the beach, but you can ignore them or simply say no. Most are friendly, none are out to attack you or your family. Just a bit on the aggressive side trying to make a living in a competitive environment.

Oops! That was an oversight on my part! I will move to the correct area. Thanks for your response though.

  2. Should we be concerned about safety when walking to this public beach from the ship? Planning to walk there with our kids but this would be our first time off the ship in Nassau. Have heard some concerns regarding pushy vendors and safety at this port. Any feedback from those who have been there would be appreciated!

  3. As I have not sailed either cruise line, I am looking for some feedback from those of you who have. I am posting this question in both the NCL and Carnival forums.

Trying to decide between these two options for family cruise in March. The Escape is a 7 night Eastern and the Vista 6 night Western.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Kim

  4. I haven't been on Princess yet (two upcoming cruises booked) but I believe it would be similar to Celebrity geared towards a more mature crowed. I have been on Norwegian Escape and if kids are involved I would give the nod to the Norwegian Escape.

Thanks for your response Lou! I have read your review of the Carnival Vista and loved it...Would you say the Escape would be similar to the Vista?

  5. Trying to decide on the best cruise option for a multigenerational family (kids, parents and grandparents) for March? Caribbean Princess with stops in Roatan, Cozumel and Belize or the NCL Escape with stops in Tortola, St. Thomas and Nassau? We don't have a big budget for excursions...

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

  6. We are flying into MIA one night pre-cruise (family of 6 with young children). Safety is our top priority. We are flying in late at night and it would be convenient just to stay near the airport and use an airport shuttle if we can find a safe hotel/area close by. I have been reading that it is generally not recommended to stay near the airport though, which is concerning.

Has anyone stayed at the Hyatt Place Miami Airport East or the Residence Inn Miami Airport West/Doral and would be willing to comment on their experience? I believe they are newer hotels and can accommodate us in a suite. I would really appreciate some advice on choosing the hotel.

    Thank you.

  7. My biggest concern when booking this room over a year ago was to not have those teeny tiny balconies like on the -Away ships. So I booked a large balcony room (9734). It's a good size with one lounger, 2 regular chairs, 2 tables and one rat.

Thinking of booking this category for our next cruise on the Escape. Did you feel a lot of motion being this far forward? Would you recommend this room over a mid ship standard balcony on deck 11?

  8. What time do you sail? What time does check-in finish? (check your cruise documents).

Most ships sail about 4:30-5:00 and stop check in about 3-3:30.

IF your flight is on time, it will still take you 30+ minutes to get off the plane and collect bags and into a cab. WAY TOO CLOSE!

Go back to the airline, tell them the schedule change will not work and fly in earlier in the day or preferably the day before! ;)

Thanks so much for your response!
