  1. We haven't done Emerald but my youngest, no 11, loves Princess. That's basically a beach days cruise and a nice get away - GT is one of our favorite ports and it is worth a walk down the main beach off the port property to take the island tram tour. As for FLL, if you have a car you could spend a day going over to the everglades. I would also recommend the Miami zoo. TA website will give you some other great options.

Thanks for your informative response! Greatly appreciated!

  2. Anyone have any experience flying into FLL and renting a car to drive to Port Canaveral? I am thinking about doing this in March. Would be doing one night pre and post cruise so would have lots of time. Had planned to cruised RCL Navigator of the Seas so have flights purchased into FLL but now considering switching to the Carnival Sunshine (kids really want water slides). Any recommendations of hotels in a safe area along the way? May stop half way for the night?

  3. Anyone have experience with MSC and how they handle food allergies onboard? Contemplating a MSC Divina cruise with two kids who are highly allergic to nuts. Would appreciate hearing about anyone's experience with this type of situation. Thanks.

  4. Thanks!! We went to Paradise Beach years ago. I believe it has been upgrade significantly since then. Our friends love to go there. We just have a hard time giving up Nachi.

    Hope you enjoy Indy!

Loved your review! We are cruising for the first time on the Indy in March with our two boys, ages 6 and 9. Which beach excursion would you recommend in Cozumel (and/or Costa Maya)? We are a little nervous about eating any food off the ship as both boys have severe nut allergies. Would love to hear any tips/recommendations you may have:)

  5. Could you provide more details? Exact date? How many kids and what are their ages? Are you staying overnight at the airport or in Manhattan? Hotel budget? Hotel bed configuration?

The answers to ALL these questions affect the cost of your various options.

If we are flying into Newark we will stay there overnight. 2 adults, 2 kids under 10. Looking to spend less than $500 for hotel and transportation.

  6. We are booked on the Breakaway in March and now starting to look at some transportation options to/from the port and airport. Will be flying in the evening prior to embarkation day. Looks like Newark might have the cheaper flights (compared to LGA) but honestly don't know where to start with getting to/from the port since NCL does not offer transfers from there. Any tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We will be travelling with kids so if the extra costs would be worth it for the convenience from LGA would like to know that as well. Thanks all!

  7. Looking for a nice family cruise for March 2016. Booked on the Breakaway with Norwegian's beverage promo. But now second guessing my decision based on temperature in NYC during that time of year. Is the Carnival Dream a better option? My kids really want water slides. Flights to Florida are very expensive so these may be the only options. I would appreciate any feedback, especially from those who have sailed on these ships. Thanks :)

  8. I am considering cruising on the Breakaway for March Break 2016. Although the ship looks great and the price is decent (better than flights to FLA) I'm a little concerned about the temperature/weather sailing from NY at that time of year. Does anyone have any experience with this that you can share to help me make the decision?

  9. Age of the kids?

Mine were 11-15 and we've been on both ships. We all prefer the Sunshine....but...it isn't for everyone.

Sunshine has better waterworks and sports deck, Dream has better pools.

Sunshine has better choices for food, Dream does have Oceanside BBQ

Sunshine in areas appears to be a newer ship but in other areas shows it's age

Dream has a much better set up for Comedy Club.

BTW - For whatever reason, Sunshine takes at beating here on CC, almost cult like.

Thanks for your reply! Boys are ages 6 and 9. This would be our first Carnival cruise.
