Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Yes- our 7 reservations were part of group reservation. It didn't seem that being part of a group played a part in being able to make the above change, but perhaps it did.
  2. We were on the Joy in August to Bermuda. We had 4 balcony rooms (and 3 inside cabins)- and for one of the balcony rooms we were able to not book the drink package (1 adult and 1 child) or the specialty dining (2 meals each for 2 people) and instead received the $100 on board credit and the 10 8x10 photos. We booked through NCL- and we did the above change through their representatives. I called multiple times and not all the representatives were aware of it. After I heard about it from NCL, sometimes on a different call, I had to inform other representatives about this offer and they were able to look it up.
  3. Not sure if it worth it- but if you cancel the Beverage Package and the Specialty Dining, you can receive a $100 on board credit and 10 8x10 prints from the regular photo store.
  4. Room service is a flat fee for breakfast, $4.95 (+20% i think) Pay attention to the hours Savor and Taste are open for each meal. One morning, we arrived 9:31 am, and were not seated as their hours that morning were 8:00- 9:30.
  5. They should have communicated what the actual policy is- instead of telling us continuously for 5 months incorrect information that 1 adult per room is just for booking purposes and that it will be no problem for some people to get 1 extra room key for a different room.
  6. Just got off the Joy this morning after the Aug 13-20th NYC /Bermuda Cruise. All in all we had a great time. I just want to point out that as an extended family of 2 grandparents- 5 parents and 9 teenage grandchildren- we booked 7 rooms with 1 adult in each room and a combination of kids in the rooms. The plan was to shift everyone's rooms around on the ship so that the 7 adults would be with spouses in 4 rooms (with 1 single parent) and the 9 teenagers would split up in 3 rooms on the cruise based on 2 male rooms of 3 and 1 female room of 3. Starting 5 months ago, dealing with our NCL group contact as well as other NCL representatives. we were told multiple times this would not be an issue and we could get additional room key cards on board and we may sleep how we please. Turns out when we boarded last Sunday and tried to get these room cards from Guest Services, we were told NCL changed the process. They do not provide additional room access cards anymore. What they now do is assign reciprocal access to 2 rooms on your ID/Room key. So this works well if you are a family of 4 and request 2 rooms. All 4 key cards will have access to both rooms. However if you are a bigger group and are mixing and matching boys and girls, this can potentially be a problem as you may be limited in which rooms your ID card opens. For us- we had to spend 90+ minutes with multiple Guest Services representatives and managers (after a 60 minute wait on the guest services line) - and re-assign the original bookings of the rooms- and then grant reciprocal access for 3 sets of 2 rooms. A stressful start to trip- but for us we were able to make it work out so everyone could access the room they slept in. And most everything after that was enjoyable. The only related point- is that communication/information between the booking agents and the ship (and even different areas of the ship) is inconsistent and not great.
  7. We called NCL and they completed the check-in without the picture saying you can take the picture at the dock. They also said that the way they finalize the check-in - and how one can do it at home, is that if you try 2 times and the picture upload doesn't work, on the 3rd time, the system will complete your check-in with the message to take a picture at the dock. We had people in our group able to use that little hack and complete the online check-in with no acceptable picture and we had some people who did not have success and just called NCL to complete their check-in with no picture.
  8. Ok, thank you. I don't think the Consent Form is needed for us, as the children will check in/board with their respective parents.
  9. what form? can something be filled out beforehand as part of the check-in process online?
  10. Does anyone know if the Beverage Package Service Charge and the Daily Service Charge go into the same overall pool of money- or does the beverage package Service Charge go directly to the bar staff?
  11. Hi T Byrd Welcome home. Looking forward to having a great time on the Joy in 3 weeks' time. Did you go to any of the comedy shows and how does that work with reserving in advance? Thank you
  12. Thank you! Did you make it on to the ship - and then you had to return to the check in area when the grandchildren arrived? Or were you in the check-in area the whole time? I assume it doesn't matter whether the grandchildren are all teenagers as opposed to younger.
  13. Looks great! What nights are Footloose and Elements?
  14. Do you reserve the latest port check in time? is that the best time to go to avoid the rush?
  15. What are the disadvantages of having a late port check in time? Thank you
