  1. Just so everyone is aware, I was able to check in 16 days prior with the Platinum and Diamond guests! I would suggest if yours is not showing the 16 days prior on your carnival manager page, call carnival. I would also send John Heald a quick message with your booking number and names on the booking. I would also send carnival a message on the messenger on FB. All of these helped and it was taken care of for me. Happy cruising to all of us!!

The unvaccinated that demand they be able to cruise are making it a lot harder on the cruiselines. As far as kids .....mine ALWAYS sail with the wife and I but this time they stay with Grandma this early on in the game. Some parents need to get more common sense.

Exactly. Our 3 teens will be platinum in 2 more cruises, but we are leaving them with grandma this time also.

Thanks!  I plan on checking in right after midnight and will select the earliest time.   Even my husband is excited about reaching platinum.  I think the people turning platinum on their next cruise probably just fell through the cracks of whatever program the IT people used to change the check in dates because it does show platinum on my documents.  It's not a huge deal.  I am just happy my cruise is sailing and will definitely not let little things affect my excitement.

Yes, me too! Nobody knows how to handle this situation at all, sadly. I have tried reaching out to John Heald, Carnival on Facebook and they all say they will check into it and we should be able to check-in with Platinum guests, but mine still says 14 day prior on my manager page. I pretty much give up trying at this point.

I have read that before. I am not concerned about me testing positive. My concern is what happens (to me) if too many other people test positive.

If you read it, it states they will take care of the POSITIVE cases.

The CDC Guidance says you do NOT need to quarantine if you have come in contact with a covid + person and you are vaccinated. That is their own guidance. It would not change on sea.

I would prefer to hear that from Mr. Fain or Mr. Beylay than from you.

I believe if one wants to challenge an assertion they should be the one to provide the contradicting evidence.

"Without a problem" by the OP would suggest without an 'outbreak event causing drastic results (aka Princess in February of 2020).

I have not read about such, but if you have and can provide the link  I'd sure like to see the details.

Look up Main Schiff, Mein Schiff 2, and Aida. MSC Virtuosa has been going from UK now, also, the newest one. You can look up yourutbe videos and vloggers about it. None have had an outbreak. I wish everyone would quit it with the March 2020 stuff. We are 16 MONTHS beyond that.

You are correct. The only issue is that the CDC has treated the cruise industry differently than the rest of the universe. Hopefully, things will be handled at sea as they are on land.

If you go, for instance, to Royal they now have this:

the CDC and Royal have said if a certain % of passengers test positive on board the ship will return to homeport.    this is why they have to have port agreements in place.      But nowhere have I heard or read what that % is.     Earlier this year  I recall reading CSO from CDC and I believe it said 1.5% of passengers, has that changed?    What is the actual %.

Most travel insurances will cover for covid issues for medical but they will not reimburse you the expense of your flight, hotel, food, car transportation to and from airport, cruise terminal, etc. if a cruise is cut short.    At least I have not found one that will cover all of that.    I believe I read Royal will reimburse you cruise fare if a cruise is cut short.

Have you read their protocols recently. I could have sworn they said they will take care of that passenger at their expense. Please go, for instance, to Royal Caribbean Protocols.

so you are okay with a cruise possibly being cut short because a % of unvaccinated passengers get or have covid onboard?    that is our concern, not catching covid, but being sent back home after paying all the money to get on the ship (flights, transportation, hotel, etc)  and have only 3 or 4 days on a ship that was supposed to be 7 or 14 days.

It won't be. The CDC has guidance and they say if vaccinated, you do not need to even quarantine if you come in contact with a covid + person. Gosh, guys, you need to calm down. Cancel if you are afraid. There was a ship full of crew and 5 tested +. They then removed those 5 and kept on going. No one else got it, but they ended up testing negative a little bit later on. They won't stop the ship, they won't quarantine everyone. They will make sure that one person is taken care of. This is not March 2020 anymore.

Can you produce any actual data to substantiate this claim?

Yes, follow many youtubers who are in UK and Germany and they have been cruising all year. The Very Unofficial Travel Guides with Morgan, he is from Hamburg and has videos of his Mein Schiff and Mein Shiff 2  and also Aida cruises he has taken all this year. Also, Emmacruises and there are a few more! No problems.

Maybe I should have worded my post better. I’m not worried about catching Covid (already had it earlier this year). Also not worried about my family getting sick. Really not a health issue for me.

I am worried that unvaccinated people will be on the ship/coco cay and some will test positive during the cruise which will cause the cruise to immediately go back to port and vacation over. Royal states this on their website if a percentage test positive then they have to end the cruise. Many of use don’t want our vacation ended early….

There is something we are all forgetting. The CDC has guidance and in that guidance they state if you are vaccinated you do not need to quarantine even if you have come in contact with a covid positive person. Only those who are not vaccinated would need to. That was the last I have read, unless they updated it further. I believe a large % on the ship will have been vaccinated so I don't think it will be an issue. Just think, cruising has gone on for months in Europe, without a problem. The unknown and what ifs are scary, but we will get though it. I think if the cruiselines would just come out with their protocols, we would all feel better. I cruise in 34 days and have no idea what is required of me.
