  1. The service by everybody in the crew (maybe with one exception, one of the coffee bar girls hates her job) was cheerful, extremely friendly and they never said no. Even with the grumpy passengers they tried to do their best. But our cruise was only 2/3 full. Don't know how it is on a full boat. However, you could really talk to anyone and they will talk to you: captain, hotman, reception, etc etc. Really one of the friendliest, proactive crews I have ever had !

  2. As the WS ships are significantly smaller than today's cruise ships normally are you WILL feel motion even in moderate seas. For me it's no problem but I saw quite a number of passengers with patches behind their ears ;)

  3. Just got off Wind Surf. There were two glass bottles of still water in the room. When we asked for sparkling water instead on the first night we got our fridge filled with San Pellegrino every day. No problem at all and nice service by the room stewardess.

  4. Hey RMS,

just got off Windsurf from the Canaries. You can check out my review which is coming up in the next few days. After the cruise we spent 3 day on Tenerife. It's a lovely island with the best and quieter hotels in CALETA or ADEJE. Check out the Sheraton or RIU Palace. We loved it! Flights are no problem at all.

    Cheers, P

  5. We are booked on the Quest next April in a V2 and have similar concerns about the metal railing blocking the view, but really wanted to get as close to mid as possible and this is the only option within our budget. Much as I would like all glass I expect that the barrier should not be a significant issue. When sitting at the table we will still be able to see over the rail. Since we will be in Northern Europe the weather is likely to be crummy anyhow.

You won't be disappointed! And if the weather isn't warm enough there will always be enough booze on board to keep you warm ;)

  6. I know this has been asked in other threads but I still can't definitively find a photo of the half metal railing on the balconies of cabins in V1 V2. Does anyone have any photos of one of those railings (photo taken inside the room) of Seabourn Quest V1 or v2? If you do have a photo, would you please post and tell me the room number. Do you know how high the metal railing is? Thanks!

    Hey folks,

the V1&V2 are great. I was afraid that the metal railing would somehow block the view or the like but it was just perfect and the cabin was very quiet with very little movement. I attached a few photos.

Hope this helps for decision making ;-)

  7. I was on the Kiel to Southampton from July11 until July14.

It's not that I don't like Cunard - I was on QM2 before, so I am myself a returning customer. But I just have the feeling that they could do better. It's sad because the ship itself is very nice.

The main problem onboard was the staff attitude and missing attention to detail. They seemed tired and bored (especially in Lido, in Housekeeping and at the bars, not so much in the Britannia). So either the crew managers are giving them a hard time or they are understaffed. And it comes to a point where the customer notices it. I could give you a number of examples.

Then the food: London has the most wonderful restaurants. On QE the Verandah food was totally boring, the service really really really bad.

The food in Lido was the worst I have ever had on a cruise ship. Have you seen the canned fruit or the very few fresh items they offer? Even the deep fried food they serve in the Golden Lion Pub was better.

Also the ship needs a spruce up on the outside. On Oceanias new ships for example they are working on the outside every day - and the ship looks like a gem in all areas. Do you want to see a few photos of our balcony handrails and outside painting on QE? It's a pars pro toto.

And to be honest I am not surprised that Cunard has gone advertising in low scale magazines and newspapers (e.g. HAPAG LLOYD - Europa 2) is never seen there. Again, it's really sad because I like all the Englishness about it, but all in all I would not recommend it to anyone when I look closely on value for money.

  8. Well, I find it hard to believe that any of the Cunard ships will not have new returning customers .....

I wasn't talking about "any" ship but the specific ship on a specific cruise! I have been talking to a number of first-time passengers and all said that it wasn't worth the money. Also why don't you read another review (other than mine) about that specific cruise?

If I had been in charge of the organisation of that mini-cruise I would have made my ship shine for the three or four days because those who were first-time cruisers on a short voyage will come back - IF THEY REALLY LIKED what they have seen.
