Hello again
Still wondering if anyone has any information for me eg would March be a good month for the Alpine section of the extension?
As I have had no replies I wonder if I am on the wrong part of the site or is this extension not popular.
Perhaps I will need to ask on board Viking Sea in September.

Just signed up for our excursions a few days ago. Can confirm you will both be on same booking sheet in My Viking Journey, so you can both sign up or only one of you if you want to split up to do separate excursions. You do need to book all excursions even the included ones.
Incidentally we are in a V guarantee cabin, as we were on a waitlist for the cruise we wanted which was originally fully booked. As a result we were last category to be able to book.
We got all the included excursions we wanted ( although not necessarily the times we would have preferred) bar one which was sold out. We rang the office in London and were reassured that we would get an included excursion in that port and to watch out over the next two weeks for more to appear. Sure enough within 2 days slots were available.

Hi all
We are considering this river cruise with Viking in 2020. The extension is of particular interest. We would appreciate any feedback on the cruise, train travel, places visited and especially the alpine section from people who have done this itinerary.
Many thanks

Hi
We booked an Ocean cruise one year and two cruises one River and one Ocean the next time each time while on board, as we were impressed by the offers. There were greater discounts the more cruises (or possibly longer ones) you booked. We were also offered OBC for the new bookings AND the cruise we were already on. The future cruise director is the one to go to. We have met Michael, Jared and Nathan and all three were really knowledgeable and helpful. They have 1 or 2 promotional talks (depending on length of cruise). We always go to these..You can then book an appointment with him to discuss your options. Your country of origin prices and rules are applied then the discounts We are from the UK.
Historically we have bought future cruise vouchers on Viking River. These are not available on VO. They were worth double the face value. However I think that these have been discontinued, perhaps someone else can advise on this.

We had very nice weather overall. It rained in Bergen and in Newfoundland, but not in torrents. We had a few sprinkles in the Faroes. Iceland was gorgeous, sunny but cool enough we were able to walk back to the ship from downtown Reykjavik (about 2 miles) without getting overheated. It was the same in Greenland, bright and chilly. Sagenuay and Quebec were so sunny and warm we walked around in shirtsleeves.
I took along some cotton turtlenecks, a cotton sweater and a wool sweater, a pair of gloves, and a raincoat with a hood. I also had a scarf for my neck and head when it was damp, and a cotton hat for the sun. I never had any trouble with my umbrella blowing away. Maybe we were just lucky!
I would recommend more than one pair of walking shoes, ones with non-slip soles. Sometimes the paths are wet even if the sky isn't, and it's always good to let your shoes dry out between wearings.
We are booked on In the Wake of the Vikings in Sept 2019 the only sailing that year and it is already sold out. Many people have expressed envy that we have booked as they left it too late!
Any reviews from this year would be appreciated.
Thanks

Does anybody know what the draft is for the Viking cruise ships, specifically the Viking Tor? How deep does the Danube need to be for the Tor to make it through. I have found a website that shows the river depth so I can monitor the levels.
https://www.hnd.bayern.de/pegel/donau_bis_passau/tabellen?days=&hours=17
I have searched the web and cannot find any info on Viking cruise ship draft details.
We think we were told 1.7 metres.

Just checking again......any cruises able to go from Bucharest through to Budapest? Our trip starts on the Danube on 9/27 and water looks critically low. Thanks for any info, hate coach trips . (Wish some of Florence would mysteriously fill up the Danube.)
Hi We've just completed this On Viking Aegir. Ship could not get to Giurgiu for us to board, so we had a 3 hour drive to Turnu Magurele but the rest was as scheduled.

Doing pre cruise extension in Transylvania now, and have arrived in Bucharest before joining Viking Aegir on Friday 7th. We have been told today that Aegir can't reach Giurgiu where we should have been boarding and so have a 3 hour drive to board the ship before sailing 'Passage to Eastern Europe' towards Budapest. Hope this is our only restriction!

Hi all
We've been tracking Viking Aegir's progress and it appears to be stationary at Mohaks. Is there a problem with the Danube towards the Black Sea as well as near Passau? We are due to board in Bucharest on September 6th and keeping our fingers crossed for sailing.

Hello All
Sorry this may be in the wrong place but not being a regular poster I couldn't find how to post, so I've done a reply.
My question is 'does anyone know which Viking ships are 'out of place' on the Danube because of the low water especially between Bucharest and Budapest?'
Thanks

I have had liver on two different cruises. It was cooked to perfection. I know liver is not to everyone's taste. It did not appear on our third Viking cruise even though I looked out for it. My husband doesn't like it and it's not worth cooking just for me.

Just returned from latest Viking Ocean cruise and only gained 1lb in weight despite enjoying lots of wonderful food! Came up with idea of zig-zag walking up to stateroom on deck 8, by alternating fore and aft stairs and walking the length of the ship to get breath back. Stairs down always.
Can't wait for next wonderful trip with Viking!

I'm from UK and buy Hotter shoes and use Blis-sox if any danger of blisters. Hotter do width fittings so best to try on in shop rather than buy online. Well trained staff who will advise. The trainers I buy are Asics Gel, good support and padding.

Thanks for this, I don't usually bother with anything as alcohol does not agree with my medication. I thought the mocktails might be an alternative to water but I have no idea of a suitable alternative.

Hello fellow Viking cruisers
This is my first post and I wondered if anyone had any info about Mocktails on Viking and if any are suitable for someone who is prediabetic. Most non alcohol drinks are very sweet and boring. Also I don't like sparkling/fizz so I'm difficult to cater for.
Thanks for your attention
New Rules for WiFi

Hello All
I’ve just spotted something about Viking restricting WiFi to one appliance. Could anyone elaborate?
Is this per person or per cabin? How does it work?
Thanks
