Sadly Son in Law has it. As a family we have been so careful. I haven't seen them, close up for months and months.
He works indirectly for Border Force, so had to drive , often with a Police Escort, around where the Dover 'lorry stack' was.
Its a shame when they were so careful indoors, even their teenage daughter took herself up into the loft extension for 7 days when someone in another part of her sixth form got it.
Luckily he isn't too bad. They followed every rule they could but having to work is probably what got him.
So sorry to hear about your Son-in-law. He’s doing such an important job.
And I echo what Kalos said - his teenage daughter is a shining example of how to be careful and be mindful of those around.

No snow here just very icy so I think we will have a day at home.
Sitting in bed eating breakfast. just had a phone appointment with my doctor.
How lovely to have breakfast in bed. Pauline spoils you 🤣
No snow here in West Sussex and I am just grateful my morning walkies with Freddie was, for once lately, not in the rain.

I’ve had some lovely cruises to the Med at the beginning of October. I wouldn’t worry about the Bay of Biscay as it can be like glass or lumpy at any time of the year.
The plus side of cruising at that time of year is that the ports tend to be quieter and with slightly cooler temperatures it makes exploring much more comfortable.
The only downside IMO is the sun disappears a bit earlier than in high summer......
Enjoy......

That was the one that Michael Fish said wasn't going to happen!!!

He was never allowed to forget that was he!
I so remember that storm and all the trees that came down. I recall driving into Epsom, Surrey where I worked and had to drive under a tree that had fallen across the main road. How daft was that. Certainly would not do that now!- 4

I hope everyone is ok after such a stormy night. The wind and the heavy rain here in West Sussex was pretty awful. Thankfully it does seem to be subsiding slightly now.

The estimated dates on the calculator have already changed by 9-10 days since this time last week so it might be even longer than we originally thought.
I’ve just checked and I’ve slipped about 3 weeks to now being around mid May......(my age group is 60-65).

Thank you for all you do and allowing all the various discussions.
I would also echo all that Avril said above.
Best wishes.

Still had no dinner, went to the Daughter in laws for a lunchtime buffet.
Found that the Cat was very unwell, ended up making a trip to the emergency vet in York.
The Cat has passed away, nobody feels like dinner now, will make do with a Chicken sandwich, what a year.
I’m so sorry Bloodaxe. Our pets are so precious and have kept us sane this year. Your daughter-in-law must be so upset......

Happy Christmas one and all, got a calendar from our grandson with a gorgeous picture of him for each month! Lovely. We also seem to have quite a few chocolates and wine as presents!
Eagerly waiting for a video call later from son and grandson. How lovely to have a different photo of your grandson each month.
I have been given 2 x litres of Courvoisier Brandy from friends and family. They know me well.

Gill, take care. Sorry you are on your own. xx
Thanks Jean. It’s a shame Covid has ruined this Christmas, but I count my blessings as I have a lovely warm house, enough food, good friends whom I will be talking to tomorrow and of course my dog. I am a lot luckier than many this year......

Well we didn't last long in Tier 2 - we are Tier 4 from Boxing Day
West Sussex is the same. Straight from Tier 2 to Tier 4. 😢

I’ve just had the confirmation email from Waitrose for my evening delivery tonight. All items except one are on the list. A few substitutions but mostly bigger sizes for the price of the smaller size. For example I’m getting 500ml of brandy cream instead of 250ml. What a shame!!
With Waitrose you pay 40p if you want your food delivered in plastic bags

Not sure. Asda, Tesco, Waitrose and Ocado have all been cancelling turkey orders due to a '' technical glitch'' One poor woman had her turkey substituted with a large pack of stuffing. How insulting was that?
Avril
My Waitrose order (and small turkey) is due tomorrow evening. I’m not optimistic about what will actually be delivered. They are normally very good, but these are unusual times.

Wasn’t it Grant Shapps who mentioned the number of lorries?
Both Boris and Grant mentioned the figure of 170 lorries...... Perhaps someone missed a zero off when typing up their notes?
Just said on news that a lot of fish is in the lorries waiting to go over to Calais. There’ll be a fishy pong before too long....🤣

I hope that they don't head in your direction but watching the way in which everyone seems to be trying to get out of London I think that yo may be unlucky. Given that no one is supposed to go to a lower tier the crowds should be stopped at the railway stations and all public transport should be stopped from leaving the tier 4 areas.
There will be lots heading to Cornwall and the Isle of Wight I bet....!

I guess it is inevitable that it will spread across the country. Slowing it down will only work if folk follow the rules. Any bets on that happening?
No bets at all..... Most sensible people will obey the rules but unfortunately there is the minority that don’t believe this is serious - and will cause the inevitable damage for January.

Couldn’t agree more about the fireworks. My poor dog shakes with the loud explosions and will wake anyone in the neighbourhood that hasn’t already been disturbed with his howling!
