  1. I know so many people have issues with the shower curtain but I can HONESTLY put my hand on my heart and say I don't. Bathroom small yes, but with a small frame and 5.2 1/2 I've never had a shower curtain 'stick' to me in 15 cruises. So does it after people with taller, larger builds?. I will take note in the next 5 booked as there's got to be a trick. Bathroom door I've always closed (I know it fogs ups) but a person leaving doors open (including balcony ) will cause a draft? Advance Note - just my experiences and certainly not intended to be taken the wrong way by guests that do experience the shower curtain issues.[emoji924][emoji3][emoji257]my issue is the extra couple of kilos that are gained and need to be lost before the next cruise but that's a whole different story.

I am similar size to you and never had a problem with the shower curtain but I do leave it very slightly open maybe that helps? On our last Azamara cruise my husband opened the cabin door to clear the mirror and set the fire alarm off. Within a few minutes we received a phone call and two of the security guys were knocking on our door!

  2. Thanks for info on the Indian Ocean cruise. We were booked on 2016 but had to cancel two weeks before sailing so naturally I'm very excited to see it back, seems to come up every four years.

This year Madras has been eliminated (saves on the Indian visa for one day) and Maputo (Mozambique) which I heard from those who did it was not fantastic!

With the prices what's the N/A next to $12,849? We had a balcony for just under that price.

  3. So happy to read that as we were booked on the last one in 2016 and after a year's research, joining private tours even meeting up with another couple in Perth etc. we had to cancel two weeks before sailing. Will be on Sea Princess 1st May so I hope that I can book on board and that it doesn't get sold out before then - will have to keep a very close watch!!

  4. When do they go there then? In their winter time? It's all part of the adventure cruising that area in summer and sometimes there has to be a trade off to visit these amazing places. I'd certainly take the risk of this time of year in Oceania over a cruise to the Caribbean during hurricane season.

Cyclones/wet season right across the northern part of Australia is in our summer time - November to April. Last March we were on Journey Sydney to Singapore when Cyclone Debbie struck Queensland and sadly we had to miss four ports (Townsville, Thursday Island, Hamilton Island and because of the delays Celukan Bawang in North Bali to make Singapore in time. We had a second day in Brisbane and a tender stop at a beach area nearby, not much of a trade off. Capt Magnus did a great job keeping us south of rough seas. I think April/May would be a much better time all around this vast country of ours but maybe it's past cruise time in New Zealand? We have a saying - visit the north in a month that doesn't have an 'R' in it - May, June, July, August!

  5. The officers and crew will be posting on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) using the hashtag #worldjourney.

Thanks. Have already been following Heike's FB postings, would also like to read a passenger's blog too! Have cruised with Azamara several times, would love to have done this cruise but I do have my eye on a Pursuit one next year!

  6. We are loving the Circumnavigation of our country on the Regatta, especially showing some of the highlights to our Canadian and U.S. friends. Cynthia is a great blogger and Pete and I are enjoying reading where we have been. Dave takes wonderful photos so if you are enjoying Cynthia's blog, go and see the great photos that he has taken.

    Hi Jennie

Have been following and enjoying this thread and the blog thinking of you on your travels! Hope Perth puts on a nice day for you - Vera

  7. I found that if I was in cruisecritic.com I couldn't see the forum pages just blank, but if I was in cruisecritic.com.au I had no trouble seeing the forum topics. The top of the community page is a bit different.

Maybe Cruise Critic has "regionalized" us Australasians.

Thanks sadly it didn't make any difference however going back to .com if I select cruise line and ship but not the month and eventually scroll down to the month of my cruise (and others I'm interested in) it comes up as it always has - hope this is just a glitch that will be rectified.

  8. Yes, with the roll call tool. If I click on 'view discussion' it comes up as a blank page (this includes the bookmarked one I'm enrolled on now also a blank page). If I go to the title I get the last three entries surrounded by alot of ads. Click on 'more' and again a blank page. Any suggestions to rectify?

  9. I was on the May 13th Caribbean Princess. Passengers started leaving about 7. I wasn't in any rush since we had a 4pm flight. We got off ship about 8:30 and were at the airport by 10ish. I'm from the USA, but no customs at port.

Will be on Caribben Princess in August. Did you use Princess transfer, if so do you know when the last coaches to LHR T3 left? Also do you know what time the last disembarkation off the ship was? Our flight is 5.00 pm and will probably book private car and wondering how late so that I don't have a very long wait before check in.

  10. I think it might depend on the ship...the larger ones yes, the smaller ones maybe a bit earlier, but we are never in a hurry to get off, so tend to hang around until the ship seems to be nearly empty and staff are asking us to go! So even if your debark time is earlier, you dont actually have to go then. And the later you get into the baggage hall, the easier it is to find your luggage....:D It is a bit of a scrum early on!

I would say 11.00 for your taxi is fine, although there is not normally much seating in the debark areas so you wouldn't want to be hanging around there for too long.

    Have a great cruise..

    Thanks for the info

  11. I used to drive Southampton cruise transfer coaches for Princess and other cruise lines.

They all have broadly the same routine for all "London" ports and airports.

A cruise line (or shore agency) rep will wait for passengers at the arrivals barrier in each terminal, and lead them to the coach pick-up point (again at each terminal) when a coach arrives there.

    ;)JB :)

In reverse, what is the latest time Princess coaches leave Southampton? Caribbean Princess Tues 29 August going to T3 flight at 5 pm so don't want to be there too early - thanks.

  12. It is between 8:30am and 10:30am. You get allocated a time, but can ask to change it at Reception which many people do. You are allocated a place to wait in, and only in that place do they announce when you can disembark. There are no ship wide announcements anymore.

Is the last disembarkation always as late as 10.30? So if I book a car to pick us up at 1l.00 would that be ok? Our flight from LHR T3 is 5.00 pm - don't want to get there too early.

  13. The no gambling law was lifted mid last year

"Cruise ships calling in at Western Australia will be able to open their casinos after the state government lifted restrictions.

The move is designed to protect and grow an industry already pumping $275 million into the State’s economy."

I know they were open on Radiance last November. I think it had something to do with the Packer owned casino that had prevented gambling at sea.

As for not getting the passengers in the West, not correct, we are so starved for cruises here that they book out early.

  14. After three days at sea, we are now in Cairns - beautiful day here. We skirted the cyclone so there was no rough weather, sunshine at times as many people managed to use the pool. Haven't heard any complaints everyone including crew are happy. (Happy to have been kept safe by a great captain). Next port Darwin then Benoa (Celukan Bawang scrapped) to get to Singapore on 9th. Debbie was one massive cyclone with huge amount of damage and will still cause problems right across the Tasman to New Zealand.

  15. On Journey's mystery cruise! Itinerary changes every day. We had two days in Brisbane, one lovely day at Mooloolaba. We get to Cairns on Friday after 3 days at sea. Sadly we have to miss Hamilton Is. Thursday Is. & Townsville. Decision yet to be made whether after Darwin Benoa or Celukan Bawang will be scrapped to make Singapore on time. No complaints loving ship in fact some of our friends from Quest fire are on board we had kept in touch since then. Vera

  16. The issue is almost totally economics 101. First, RCL, HAL, Princess and other large ships make numerous stops in SYD during the season. AZ makes maybe a couple; and the same for O. More stops, more preferred dockage. Second, ship size matters. If you were a merchant, tour operator, restaurant owner, etc, would you want a 650 pax ship docking quay side, or one with 3000+- pax? It's all about economic impact.

Yes, you would want a 650 pax ship at OPT when there's NO ship there. The original issue was that Journey was to move from White Bay to OPT the evening of March 21 when the Carnival ship left and remain there till 8.00 pm on the 22nd (the day I sail) as Quest had done last year. Changing plans to stay at White Bay is more of a problem for those staying on board overnight. However for people boarding they could have dropped their luggage off and then enjoyed the city.
