We've booked Holiday Inn The Rocks - not flashest rooms but reasonably priced, literally walk across the road to the cruise terminal. We're going to be there on a Sunday before cruise and so we can hang out in the markets which are practically next door to the hotel:)

Hey Tony, I didn't know you did all the rowing yourself in your row boat!
I thought you had minions for that:)
-
I lived there for 12 years; lovely place - but if you're looking for culture, its only a short one hour drive across to Rotorua which is the tourism hotspot for Maori culture. There are some amazing places there and I'm sure you would find something that suits you:)
-
That was formerly the Emperor Lounge I believe? Was there before renovations and it was still nice place, and much quieter than being out in the terminal area!
-
We were in an aft suite on Golden, and we had four chairs, table and two loungers.....:)

Thanks for your advice, had a look and I think I would go with Holiday Inn, price is reasonable.....as long as it's clean and the bed is comfortable I'm happy.
Just as a matter of interest, if any of you are using a travel agent, do you just book your cruise and flights with them, or do you get them to book your accommodation as well? I'm inclined towards booking the accommodation myself as I seem to get better rates when booking directly with the hotel....just wondered if that's the best way to go?

Would really like to book into a hotel that's as close as possible to where the cruise ships leave from at Circular Quay; can anyone give me some suggestions please?
Thanks:)

Yeah it's kinda like going away for a long weekend:)

I've been hanging out for the end of 2019 cruise itineraries to be released so I can book a cruise for myself and my aunty. She originally said she's heading downunder in September 2019, now it's November 2019.
That's waaaaaay too long to wait to cruise again (after my Jan 2018 cruise) so thought, oh well, I'll just book a wee cruise inbetween, that will see me through......(sigh).
I can relax now:halo:

Gosh! I wonder whether this means it will finally be updated? Going through there in March, it reminded me of a railway station in the late 60's! Seriously needs updating.........

April always seems to be more settled weather (autumn/fall) than October (spring) :)
-
Hey Tony....do your guys on your row boat get tips? :)
-
Awesome....I went and checked the Aussie website and we can now see them again too!
-
Cool thanks for the info:)

Are you downunder? A few of us Aussies and Kiwis noticed that window suites disappeared as a suite option, but people in North America and Canada could still see them on the website.
I was wondering which ships have them - I know Golden Princess does, but I thought there may be a couple more that offer window suites.....
-
Yeah, right!
Yep - that is right, they were joking about it with us one day and asking where they could buy the Kiwi made chocolate from when the ship docked in Auckland:)
-
Well I agree with Keith:)
Downunder, gratituties are build into cruise fare, but we still gave a cash tip to the room steward and a couple of other staff members..........
But I also gave a small (Kiwi made) chocolate bar each to the room steward and her assistant every day - simply because I wanted to; and I can tell you they really enjoyed them every day, in fact they started fighting between each other as to who was going to have which flavour!

Dined in both speciality restaurants on Golden in March this year. Very happy with both the food and experience in both restaurants:)

My agent for first cruise gave us nothing......then he left and handed us over to another agent at same company.......she gave us plenty......of mistakes........one after another, and we haven't even cruised yet.......then she left and didn't tell us, and didn't pass us on to another agent, I only found out when I wanted to double check amount paid so far for the trip.........so I have no idea if there will be any gift or OBC from the company. It would be a nice surprise, but I'm not holding my breath - I may not survive! LOL!

Oh awesome advice, thank you so much. I have always wanted to visit Adelaide - and getting there by cruise is a even more exciting:)
-
Hi, yes we are staying at Millar Apartments so great to hear you thought it was good:)
Getting in and out of vehicles won't be a problem for my friend it's more manouvering large suitcases and walking distances that I'm concerned about.
We are both excited about our upcoming trip and I want to make sure that we eliminate any potential difficulties:)
-
Hi thanks for your suggestions.
I'm just not sure still as my travelling companion has slight mobility issues, and getting suitcases on/off trains, then probably having to get a taxi when we get to city to our apartment in Hindley Street may be too much for her.
I will give her the options and let her make the decision:)

So if I'm just 'Gold' does this mean I get extra butter or do I have to wait until I'm 'Ruby'......and is it real butter?
What about bacon for 'Gold' - would that be only 2 extra pieces?
What if I wanted to actually put my butter onto my extra bacon?
Is that allowed?
and.....
would it melt?
(just askin'!) :)

Hi I had a link bookmarked for the refer-a-friend page on the Princess website, but now when you click on it, it just goes to the homepage. Can anyone help please by giving me a link to the correct page?
Thanks:)
