  1. I'm sorry, but no one ever gave me candy at work.  Hey look, I got candy for you.  Getting candy would be really an insult.....like why do you think I can't buy candy that I like?  Just give me money.  Let my adult mind make my own decision what I will buy.  It's only cute when giving it to kids.  Adults want money.  It's not even a nice gesture.  I think more of an insult treating a person like a child.

Yes, and I do a lot of cruises across the world.  The difference here is that comedy shows, announcements, etc will only be in Mandarin.  As a solo cruiser I like to meet and communicate with others, and my Mandarin is a little rusty.  Royal tells me about 90% of the people on the cruise I had originally booked will only speak Mandarin.  Likewise they have replaced all staff for this particular cruise with Mandariin speaking staff.

My question really wasn’t if this will be a good or bad cruise but rather if more cruises will be released for next year.  That’s it.

Even if more cruises released it will be Asian

Wil my GPS apps on my phone work if I don’t have wi fi?

If I understand correctly, you want to use Apps that use GPS for location, such as a map.  The answer is no, it won't work.  Although the phone continuously pings for towers, if you have the internet turned off, it won't do anything. (note wifi is the internet, and is only an avenue to get to the internet)  So if your data is turned off, airplane mode, and you don't subscribe to the ships internet through wifi, than nothing.

  4. Once you book the tax and fees stay the same

Taxes are each individual country, not the USA.  It is not a fixed percentage either.  It is entirely controlled by the country.

Fees are docking fees per passenger.  Again, this can change based on the country that is creating the fees.

If the ship collects in excess of the fees they are charged you might get an OBC for it.  It might only be a dollar or two.

You are assuming that taxes are a fixed percent so when the trip goes down, the tax goes down.  This is not that kind of tax.

Best thing to do, is not look at it since you can't control it.

That's not likely to be a bank ATM in the hotel.  The ATM is going to charge you a minimum of $3 and your bank $5. There is no conversion fee if you use an ATM card.

Poster afraid of doing ATM by herself so one in a very public place like her hotel a a second choice.  I personally don’t worry about the fee.  I only take around $200 for small items

I have a PIN attached to my credit card, only for emergencies as it would be considered a cash advance at an ATM and interest would start the day of transaction.

Online banking you can literally pay the credit card same day so no interest

I see you have the UDP and paid the 18%. Issue is that the waiters in the Specialty restaurants only receive a dollar or so out of that amount. The reminder of the 18% goes into the general tip pool.  Nothing extra goes to the bartenders, they get 0 from a voucher drink. As a side note the room service runners are volunteers who work for the extra anticipated tip.

I pay the cruise customary tip only.  How it’s split or what they get paid is not my concern

I got free cocktails for me and my wife from North Star Bar bartender.

He said the cocktail is on the house because only me that always tips him when I ordered drinks.

The sailing is on East Asia, tipping culture is not well known there.

This makes no sense to me.  On the ship, if you pay for it, you pay 18%.  If you are tipping more than 18% that is not normal.  Plus, it is not tipping culture, it is customary tipping, which is 18%.  So, everyone tips him, 18%.

  9. Many people buy things that are not needed for convenience.  However, you already paid for it, so need to double the price.  But it is your choice, not ours.  For anyone that doesn't like room temperature water, all water out of the tap, at home, or most places is warm, until it has ice in it, or chilled.  Even if you carry water off the ship, most likely it is not cold.  Personally, I don't care, what temp it is.
