  1. I am very sorry that this was your experience when you were hoping for so much better.

You mention that you wore your mask "only when required", so we can assume that it was off more than on?  I am not trying to be sarcastic, I am only looking for more clarification.  I know that tone doesn't come across on posting so please don't take this in any other form than just trying to get information.

Also, even though a person may test negative, as you said regarding the passengers boarding on the 1st day, there may still be some (or many) who are actually positive but the viral load is not strong enough to come through at that moment when the testing is performed.  The virus may also be incubating and come forth later on.  It is a difficult time for all.

  2. I am very sorry that this wasn't the cruise you had hoped for but glad that you made the best of it and still enjoyed the trip.

I just have a few questions for clarification:

    1. what type of stateroom were you in?

    2. where exactly were the onion rings?  I just love onion rings and don't want to miss finding them when I am on the Equinox in the fall.

    3. did you test Covid positive at the end of the cruise when you disembarked or on the ship?

    Ice Cream, free:

    1) OV Cafe, both hard and softserve

    2) MDR and specialty restaurants

    3) Room service

    Gelato, free if:

    1)  You're an Elite (or higher) CC member

    2)  You have the drink package and order an Affogato (Espresso, chocolate syrup, served over one scoop of gelato)

Just to clarify, free and unlimited gelato if you meet the following?

    1. You are Elite, or higher, CC member and/or,

    2. You are in a RS/PH/Iconic Suite with unlimited specialty dining

  4. I, too, will be a B2B 1st timer and have a question.  On the day of turnaround, can you order room service for lunch to avoid the crush at the limited dining venues?

We were in a Royal suite last week and didn't manage to make it to Luminae. Not tried sushi for room service but certainly you can collect to go. Remember Sushi for lunch, or the porch depending on the ship also Murano, Tuscan and Lawnclub often open for lunch once per cruise depending on the ship of course. Don't forget Gelato is include for Royal suites too.

Don't for get to start with the eggs benedict and a bloody mary for beakfast in your room too

I thought that it was just 1 scoop of free gelato?  Is it unlimited for the RS?

  6. Please see below.  I made a hard copy for the very reason the OP is having the issue.

There was a sail away party from the Retraet Sun deck ( There was also a Concierge Sail away on the Helipad). It was a bit grey but we stayed for half an hour or so. With cocktails and blankets we were quite comfee😎

Bye bye Norway... well until October any way . We are on The Queen Victoria for a slightly longer cruise to the Northern lights then . We're in a Q2 so the Cunard equivalent of a Royal suite  so I will have to post a comparison. Not sure whether here or on the Cunard boards?

So enjoying your posts.  Please compare the 2 cruise lines here.

  8. Dear OP...I am so sorry that this is happening to you.  Bear in mind, you are not alone!  We are here to talk and laugh with you anytime day or night.  What a tough time you are having now but you sound like a strong, intelligent and fierce individual.  Continue to fly!

  9. I, too, am in shock about the way things have turned out.  On the plus side, you are both fully vaccinated  and boosted which can reduce symptoms and possible hospitalization (but you already know this).  This is surely one for the memory book.  Hoping that it is just a false positive and you can now enjoy your land touring.  There will be more cruises down the road/ocean.

Thank you for taking us along your journeys and hope to continue traveling with you in the future.

  10. I'm in a similar boat, Cruiselvr04.  I have terminal lymphoma that is inactive and will never go into remission.  As soon as we get the OK from my oncologist I am back on board!  I am now working P/T to secure my present (and somewhat good insurance--because, as you know, health insurance is only good as long as you don't need it😁) and that should be in the next couple of months.  I do love my work (I am a healthcare provider) and feel bittersweet about the thought of leaving my current (and future) patients in a rural government facility.  I don't plan on being the wealthiest person in the cemetery and want to enjoy now!

    Jim,

I am surprised that you did not order something from room service.  On our cruise Hilario, our Personal Retreat Host, delivered us some delicious turkey club sandwiches and fries.  They were so good we asked for them a second time two days later on another in port day.

Of course we had to enjoy them from our balcony since we did not have the luxury of a dining room, but our balcony was comfortable.

Hilario?!  I thought that he was promoted to Administration about a year ago.  Maybe it's a common name?  What ship were you on with Hilario?  If it's the same person I am thinking of (not tall, slightly stocky and always bubbly) he is wonderful.

While I have never experienced it myself, we are very cautious as we do multi consecutive cruises.    If you get contact traced regardless if Negative you can not continue on to next cruise.

As explained to us by multiple sources including the hotel Director, Retreat Hosts etc.   If you are within 6 feet for 10 minutes or more of a person that has tested positive you are considered close contact.    They do it in a number of ways.    In the restaurants there is a record of where you are seated.    Other places on the ship they use video surveillance after interview with a positive passenger as to where they were and activities.   The security department uses facial recognition to also help identify.     If you ever walk around the ship you will see cameras everywhere.

I was a little surprised that you and Iain continued with your whale watching shore excursion when you saw that the shuttle bus was full.  If you had decided not to go on the excursion b/c of the amount of passengers in close proximity on the bus, would you have been given a refund?

So sorry to hear that you’re going through this on your birthday JetBlue 💕 I am on celebrity equinox and I just tested positive for Covid yesterday. And my friend that I am with tested for it five days ago. We are both in our own quarantine cabins, her on 3 me on 6.  Our cruise ends tomorrow. We do know that when we are travelling during a pandemic that there’s a chance that we can contact Covid and that has always been understood. Our problem is we’re having trouble with communication we cannot get through to room service we keep getting disconnected and when we phone guest relations we’re on hold for approximately an hour or more. I have not received a lot of information what will be happening when I get off the ship in Fort Lauderdale, I do know I have to quarantine for nine more days because I’m Canadian and cannot fly home to Canada. We have decided to find our own hotel and they will reimburse us for the hotel and the food we spend during our time there we are hoping it all goes well 🤞I hope you have a very Happy Birthday 🎈

I hope that things turn around for you and you are able to establish communication with the powers that be.  Good luck and a speedy  recovery.

I forgot to add, we booked this cruise almost at the last minute (Thursday afternoon to be exact).  So our check in time was 2:30 but we arrived at the terminal at 11:15 hoping we would not have to wait, and we walked right on, was eating on the back of the Cafe at 12:00 and had our bags in the room when we finished.  Unpacked and got the room sorted and the. Hit the deck chairs and of course the bars.  Hopefully with a low passenger count the chair hogs will not have to make their usual appearance.

Just out of curiosity, when you book last minute is there any type of discount?  Do they lower the prices to just get more passengers?  Or, like an airline, do you pay more at the last minute?
