  1. I just rechecked my itinerary and it was:

Miami, at sea, Key West, Nassau, Miami

Chic night was the 2nd night on a sea day.

you can always go into the Celebrity app and check the daily planner. Around 5 pm it will say if formal photos will be held and that’ll let you know if it’s chic night.

  2. Quite an interesting post. Imo, I don’t think that the cruise lines want to keep and/or publicize Covid Data anymore than data on norovirus, flu or a common cold. If they did and you were able to access it, wouldn’t it cause you to reconsider the trip if the data was high?  Once you decide to cruise, reality, for many, steps to the side.  Cruising, as being marketed, leaves the real world behind and it becomes sun, sea, tropical/other worldly breezes, good food and drink. Communicable diseases would surely put a damper on that scenario and ultimately hurt the business model.

Although I mentioned that reality may take a holiday on a cruise, common sense, kindness and good manners should not. We are currently finishing our 2nd leg of the Silhouette B2B. I have terminal cancer and we have found our comfort level so that we can assume a new normal for us and that is the following: we mask every time we leave the room. I will not take the elevator and my DH has let many go by when they are too crowded for him to feel comfortable. We dine early and ask for a table as private as possible. We do not attend crowded events and steer clear of shore excursions that have too many participants in enclosed spaces. For the most part, we have thoroughly enjoyed our voyages and will continue to cruise in this manner for the foreseeable future.

We respect our fellow cruisers choices and wish them a wonderful trip. be safe and cruise wonderfully 😁

Unlike Jim, In recent years our requests have gone through. However, we always take a copy of the email of our requests with us to give to the butler on boarding just in case and always ask him to confirm our speciality dining requests.

Re spirits, basically you can request anything on the premium package list. We invariably ask for cognac, not on the list the shoreside concierge sends you, and never had a problem. If there is a particular brand you want simply ask. If on boarding they don’t stock it ask what they can provide. Friends of ours requested some quality wines instead, it wasn’t a problem.

    Other items on our list…

    Beers, soda and water.

    Sliced lemon and lime.

    A real fruit bowl.

    Pillow preference

Tea tray and kettle (yes, we are English)

A detailed list of specialty dining bookings

Date and time of any get togethers pre arranged when cruising with friends.

To make the most of your butler keep talking once on board. Think of things you would like daily. We do not request coffee each morning as we don’t know what time we will be getting up but on port days we may pre arrange with the butler  in suite breakfast. We do ask for a daily in suite afternoon tea selection of mini sandwiches and cakes instead of the usual daily snack delivery. This usually takes us a day or two to get right as invariably we are provided with far too much.

If we do decide to dine in suite for dinner or to host a party we always give the butler 24 hours notice. We also try to avoid times when we know they have duties elsewhere (afternoon tea time in the retreat lounge, chic night theatre times…).

Remember the Retreat concierge can add to the RS experience too. If you want a bridge tour, galley tour etc let them know.

Sincere best wishes for a fantastic cruise!

We followed Chemmo’s suggestions almost to the letter and found that the requests we emailed (and subsequently s/w) to the shoreside concierge were mostly completed when we boarded. I actually took 2 hard copies of the request letter with me. One to hand to the butler (who very much appreciated it) and 1 to keep on the dining room table for reference. As Chemmo has said, it does make a difference for everyone involved.

Happy sailing and enjoy every moment.

  4. We are docked in Antigua today. Since the ship was mostly empty we spent an hour at the pool and then decided to go up to the Retreat Sundeck at 10am. It was deserted except for 1 other couple!  We had the covered lounger—not a chair/lounge piggy 🐷 in sight!  We canceled our Porch lunch reservations b/c it was just so perfect on the Sundeck and had lunch there. Contrary to previous posts, our turkey wrap and chicken sandwich came with potato chips and not fries.  By the time we left an hour or so ago, maybe 8 more guests showed up.  We are so surprised at how quiet and peaceful it was and will try again tomorrow.

  5. Currently on the Silhouette now. The Retreat Sundeck does have a small bar on the top deck and a hot tub on the bottom deck. No pay-for cabanas but there are some covered loungers. There is limited menu service, as well. In the event you would like a drink that the Retreat Sundeck bar does not have, they will do there best to have someone get it for you.
