I'll be going on my first Oasis class this summer and I'm sure I'll enjoy it but I'm hoping the crowds/lines I read about a aren't too bad.
Dining and entertainment on Oasis class are nice. Crowds in some areas can be bad at times. On Symphony last year we never set foot in Windjammer, it was awful. And elevators were a nightmare most of the time. We use the stairs a lot, but when going up many flights it would be nice to use an elevator without waiting forever or squeezing in like sardines. We'll be on smaller ships next winter except for a week on Wonder. And that's only because it's free through the casino 🙂

While my wife and I prefer Freedom (and Voyager) Class over Oasis Class, we are in the minority among the cruising couples we know.
It’s really an apples to oranges comparison, and I believe someone who really enjoys all that the Oasis Class has to offer will generally be disappointed on a smaller class of ship.Agree. It seems people are split 50/50 now, either hopelessly in love with Oasis+ class, or enjoy the "smaller" ones. We've sailed Allure and Symphony. Next winter it will be Grandeur/Explorer/Serenade for the most part. Since the casino is giving us one, we'll go on Wonder just to shake it up 🙂

I saw him on Anthem and thought he was rude and quite insulting with backhanded comments to some in the audience, I'm sure I heard his contract was not renewed on here shortly after.
We also watched him in 270 doing a sound check one afternoon and he was talking into an open mike to the tech guys upstairs, he was err blunt and annoyed to say the least with them. I'm not surprised he's not on RCL at the moment with his attitude.
He is on RCCL, saw him a couple months ago. You might not like his show, and we're not fans. But he has MANY fans on RCCL. Believe it or not some book cruises just because he is there.

Saw him a couple months ago on Explorer. He has a lot of avid fans!

What is the point of paying with gift cards?

Since being Prime at the casino a few years ago we pretty much book and organize everything through them. Their phone reps are amazing and always pick up quick. Of course it's also nice that most of the cruises are now "free" 🙂
That said, we've never had any issues with the normal RCCL phone line and staff, once they pick up.....

I've never put my tablet in the safe and never worried about anything happening to it. And.... nothing has ever happened to it.
Yep!

I would be hesitant if I were you using a voucher in the MDR. It is hit and miss as to whether they charge you or not. If you don't mind standing in line at Guest Services to get it changed, go for it. I personally bring a drink to dinner these days to avoid the issue.
6 cruises on 4 ships last winter, never any issues using D+ drink vouchers in MDR or specialty restaurants.

Yep, we've never even thought about putting laptops or tablets in the safe. Leave them on the desk or wherever they may be 🙂

I know suites have been non-refundable for a while. Which would be a huge hit to the pocketbook.
Only if you cancel?

No interest whatsoever in Icon. Looking forward to Grandeur, Explorer and Serenade next winter. Not only do we like the "smaller ships", almost all comped thru the casino and we still won 🙂

We bring a liquid hand soap dispenser each cruise. They're cheap and it's nice to have onboard.

People, you DO realize that when you are up for another crystal block the LA will send you a card asking if you want the block or prefer to decline it? You check the choice and then you simply drop the card off to the LA's desk. There is also a drop box there if the LA is not present.
Well our block showed up in the room no questions asked, no card in the room asking if we wanted it. This was 6 weeks ago.

Yes, but it's a tiny cheap piece of plastic. Lapel pins are meaningless unless you're Pinnacle
Pinnacle pins meaningless also, except in the eye of the Pinnacles who proudly wear them 24/7.

Odyssey is our favorite ship. We love everything about it. I’m sorry it’s going to NJ and leaving Florida.
Agree. First time on Odyssey was last March and we loved it. Beautiful ship. FYI OP, lots of "cheap" pay dining also - namely the Pub, Playmakers and Giovanni's wine bar. All are inexpensive and a nice way to shake things up.

When I was on Adventure several months ago they did not allow you to use Diamond Plus drinks on debarkation morning. There have been numerous posts about this issue. From my experience and from what I have heard getting loyalty level drinks on debarkation morning varies from ship to ship and sometimes from cruise to cruise. And we used Diamond + vouchers last morning on Adventure 2 months ago. I guess it doesn't matter much "which ship", just "which day"........ 🙂

If I was to pick one restaurant on Symphony it would be Hooked. Second would be 150 Central Park. I would pick Chops from the three you mentioned. As others have stated, food is very subjective and ultimately you know what kind of food you like best.
Agree, we would choose Hooked. Chops would be second but we had no complaints about Jamies.

Oh my! WOW, I wouldn't have thought that the 3 day would go so quickly, the sailing is next April.
I will buy the next time I see it, if it comes up, and then watch prices.
I will also just buy the UDP and cancel if the 3 day comes up.
Thank you so much.FYI Odyssey also has some great, cheap pay dining too. Namely the Pub, Playmakers, and Giovanni's wine bar. I highly recommend the bbq nacho's and chocolate desert at the pub 🙂

I assume El Loco Fresh replaced JR's and Playmakers replaced the Pub next to Sorrento's.
There is a pub on Odyssey. Some decent food for 4.00 each 🙂

Agreed! Two70 theater is not my favorite. It’s a cool and unique place but horrible for shows. We tried to get seating upstairs but it was packed, nothing available. I think those might be the best seats as you can see everything from up there. I didn’t care for the story on both the book and the effectors but the tech, the acrobats, the performances on both I appreciate.
Agree with all you said. 2nd level seating is best for Two70. As you said it's cool and unique, but odd in a way. D+ seats there were perfect. Last month was our first time on Odyssey and we loved the ship overall. Wish it was going to be in Florida next year. The nachos and chocolate desert at the pub are well worth 4.00 each! 🙂

Nowadays (in the US anyway) the historical plantation is losing popularity due to a more modern gaze.
What is that even supposed to mean? Modern gaze?????

Congrats and enjoy your new cabin. Not sure of the norms, but $1400 seems like a high bid to me. Is the cruise longer than a week?
M
Yeah that's a high bid, not surprised it was accepted.

His schooner bar set on Explorer in February was 3+ hours. I doubt most people felt an obligation to stay "until it was over".......
