If they are not cruising a year from now, the industry will be on life support. 15+ months of extremely limited revenue could have devastating results.

I completely agree. That’s why I also canceled a 2022 cruise and sold my Carnival stock. I’m trying to limit any potential losses, while maintaining hope that my 2021 cruise sails.

  2. On March 15th, I submitted the cancellation form Carnival sent to me (I chose the OBC option). This was for our March 19th cruise. My daughter also submitted her form the same day.  Two days later, I cancelled two other cruises. And on April 12th, I cancelled the Cheers package for a 2021 cruise that I still have booked.

On Wednesday April 29, my daughter received her money back for the March 19th cruise but I did not.

So I called Carnival and the rep told me they had no record of any form that I had submitted on March 15th but she would complete it now. 🙄 How convenient for Carnival.

She also said she could see that I cancelled two other cruises but they had not been processed so she would process them too (whatever that means).  She indicated that there is no set timeline to receive the money back. (Yes, I’m aware that Carnival is saying 90 days...I’m just sharing)

She also said I should get emails, confirming all of this, within a couple of days. Those haven’t arrived either.

As of today, I haven’t been refunded any of the $2,869.75  I am owed. And there seems to be no system in place to how people are getting their refunds.

  3. My daughter and I did this cruise in June of 2019. It was my third time on the Epic but first time sailing the Mediterranean. It was an amazing cruise!

We embarked in Barcelona...if you sail from there, I definitely recommend spending a few days before your cruise touring this fabulous city.

It’s nothing like sailing in the Caribbean...the port days are VERY long and the weather, even in June, was not warm enough for the pool (although the pool was packed on the one sea day...but we are Floridians...so our idea of pool weather is different!).

If you decide to book...take a look at italytours.eu they have cheaper excursions than the ship with considerably less people.

Do you mind sharing what cabin you had? We were just assigned balcony on deck 11 3 cabins from the aft. The reviews from deck 11 seem to indicate very little noice and a decent view of the ocean. I’m wondering if you were lower and closer to the carousal? Do you think being higher and aft will help to negate the issues?

We were in cabin 11729. You could definitely hear noise when the shows were going on (even with the door closed), but it didn’t bother us.

Hubs and I did a month in Europe with just a carry on each.  We were on trains all the time, so we needed more mobility.  You can easily do it.  Take clothes that dry quickly.  Rayon and nylon is good for that.   I did a lot of laundry in the sink.  Take the travel Tide or equivalent.  It will save you money and time.  I did not want to spend my time in laundromats, especially in a foreign country.  We always felt fresh and clean.  www.travelsmith.com is a good resource site.

Thanks for the resource and the tips!

  6. Yes, I believe it’s possible!

My daughter and I are going on a 15 day trip to Europe (including a 7 day cruise) this summer. We each plan to only take a carry-on and a backpack. For us, it’s about the simplicity of traveling without heavy, bulky bags.

As someone else said, it’s all about prioritizing what you really need and getting rid of the luxuries. I find that rolling your clothes really helps too.

I am concerned about not having enough clean clothes but the fact that I know I have the option to send a bag out to be laundered helped us make our decision to travel light.

We too we on this sailing and got the same response.  So we dined in Gioviannis both nights, after talking to the staff  they let me know I could order something off the Chops menu for night 2, since they had time to prepare for it.  I ordered the filet both nights.  I will say the Giovianni's filet is hands down a better filet, so tender.  The chef came out and spoke with us and said the Gio Filet is marinated for a couple days before cooking where as the Chops filet is not.  They also on the 2nd day brought us the shrimp app and the Red velvet cake from Chops.  They where very understanding since I think they get an ear full about the BOGO on Allure.

My husband had the fillet at Giovanni’s the first night. Our server told us the same thing about how they marinate it and that their fillet was better than Chops fillet. But to be honest, we just thought it was “good but not great”. That’s why we didn’t return the second night and chose Samba instead. The meats at Samba weren’t excellent either but the overall experience was.
