  1. We are planning to book a cruise for our daughters graduation in May 2018. She is allowed to bring a friend, however, she doesn't know which friend yet (since it is so far away). In addition, she will still be 17 when we sail. Any suggestions on how to book the two cabins? Will they even let us book if we don't know the name of the undecided person yet? Thanks!

  2. I posted earlier in this thread about our disappointing thoughts on our prior two Paradise cruises. We took our third trip on the Paradise in October and enjoyed it so much we booked our fourth and fifth Paradise cruise :). Our cabin steward was phenomenal as was the rest of the staff. Food was decent and entertainment (comedy...music...piano bar) was really good. In Cozumel, we went on the Cozumel Bar Hop and would highly recommend it to anyone.

I did, however, see more intoxicated people on this cruise than ever before. A couple of examples...One older woman was so drunk in the casino. She fell onto my husband's back and then plopped on the stool next to him. I asked her if she needed help but she her speech was incomprehensible. Then she started to cry. I went to get her some assistance and just as the casino host and I were rounding the corner...she tried to stand up...fell and hit her head hard on the machine. Not sure what ultimately happened to her.

Then we left the casino and went to the Leonardo Lounge next door. As we were walking in, and almost to the bar, we witnessed a girl fall backwards off the barstool and smack her head hard on the floor. It made quite the sound...so bad that the girl signing in the band stopped and went to see if she was ok. Then her and her friends got back up at the bar and continued to drink. She couldn't even hold a glass without knocking it over. I couldn't figure out why the bartenders were letting her continue to drink and then in walks security :). They took her key and escorted her back to her room. So kudos to Carnival for handling that quickly!

Overall it was a great trip! We booked a surprise (Christmas gift) cruise in January for our daughter. Then booked another one at the end of the school year. Looking forward to sailing on the Paradise again.

  3. Totally depends on what GTY you book. On every fare I have price checked recently the 1A's are in a different selection. The common fare is a 4A GTY which means 4A is the base.

For example...go look at the Fantasy right now. The 1A upper/lower are there own selection, you must upgrade to the Interior category at a slightly higher rate per day before the GTY option is presented.

Thanks. It's for the Valor, December 8.

The options are interior, porthole, and interior with window (walkway). For this sailing there is no mention of the 1A. However, I checked the next sailing and they do list the 1A as an option.

  4. We have been on the Paradise twice and it's probably our least favorite ship. We still had a good time but we were disappointed in a lot of areas. Admittedly, we aren't fans of the small size. However, both times we had a very unfriendly cabin steward, we thought it was odd how the piano bar closed so early, and we weren't impressed with most of the food(and we are far from being foodies!). It was all little details, but the little things add up.

After the last Paradise cruise, my husband said, "We are never going on that ship again". Now, having said that, we are going on her again in October. Lol. Why? Well, we live super close to the port and it's cheaper than driving over to the beach for four nights. Plus, we both absolutely love Cozumel. Maybe third time will be a charm and change our thoughts on the ship.

If you found a great rate and since your daughter lives in Tampa...I would say to give it a try!

  5. Did you eat in the main dining room? If you did MyTime Dining, what time did you go and how were the lines?

We did My Time Dining for the first three nights. We made reservations around 5:30 each night. No wait at all but there were long lines in the "no reservations" line. Not sure how long they waited.

Service in the dining room was great - we just tired of the menu and ate elsewhere the last four nights.

  6. How would you rate the rocking? We had a trip to norway where we could barely stand and people were holding onto the walls as they walked the corridors (and I was pitched from side to side in bed)...

No where near that level of rocking! I've experienced much worse. It didn't make me sick, but others we spoke to said it was too much for them at times. It was just never-ending.

  7. Midweek there will be a laundry bag placed in your cabin.

I would place only underwear and socks here, they will only be folded, no pressing and can look wrinkled.

Would not use for shirts or shorts.

They do provide for other items to be washed and pressed but $$

    Good luck.

    Thank you!
