Does anyone know how much the cabanas rent for? How far are cabanas from the pool?
I think the price can vary but we paid $159. Worth every penny IMO :). The cabanas are directly around the pool area.

If you haven’t been to Grand Turk lately, things changed this year for the negative in my opinion .
First off, the chairs surrounding are now $35pp to rent for the day (new from this year).
Secondly the blue chairs in the beach are free but they are now in the back. You can rent chairs by the beach now for $25pp (used to be free). To me this makes this already throw away port stop even less desireable. Carnival greed strikes again

Just some clarification. :)
We were just there about 10 days ago. They do not charge for chairs around the pool. They have a handful of special chairs (with safes and umbrellas) that can be rented. Plenty of free chairs directly around the pool.
The beach chairs- a Carnival rep was standing on the dock warning about the ones that cost money. Carnival provides the free chairs....locals provide and charge for the others.

Horrible. Absolutely horrible. We were on the Sunshine last week and we paid for the “premium” package (two packages actually). My husband needed to be able to check email and send emails for work. My daughter and her friend had to submit some assignments for college. The internet was useless unless it was 4:00 -7:00 in the morning. Even at those times it was slow. It was very frustrating. They did refund us for both packages, as they should have.

We just got off the Horizon June 15th with our room being in Havana section. We found that it was much more crowded than when we sailed the Havana section last year on the Vista. It was very easy for us to compare the two ships Havana area as we sailed Vista the same week in June as we sailed the Horizon this year. Two sea days we could not find a chair/lounger out on the pool deck. Maybe it was just a different crowd this time. We sailed out of NYC (last year we sailed out of Miami).
Thank you for sharing this. We are booked on the Horizon next year and are concerned about over-crowding in the Havana area.

There is a spiked coffee special each day as well.
The bucket of beers discount is $2 per bucket.
Great! We love the spiked coffee for breakfast :).

Hi
Purchasing a bottle or two for your cabin would save you some. Bring on your own soda for mix, or whatever they have on board.
If you enjoy wine, there are wine packages available, as well as being allowed to bring one bottle of wine per adult on board at embarkation. Also you can get 1/2 price wine in the steak house if you book for the first night.
If you are a beer drinker, I believe you can save a few dollars by purchasing buckets of beer.
They usually have a $1 discount for their drink of the day, but if you purchased a bottle for your cabin you would be much better off.
Of course if you are big gambler, you might qualify for the "drinks on us" card, but that is only good in the casino, and it might cost more than the drinks are worth. :)
hope this helps
have a great cruise
Very helpful! Thanks :).
We have done the bottle to the room before. I think we will skip it this time as we realized we like a variety of drinks.
Today, I went and bought our wine to carry on and we do have steakhouse reservations the first night!

Thank you everyone for the confirmation of the $3 double and the other tips!

We get the Cheers package for the shorter cruises that we sail on but, for us, it loses its value on a longer cruise. So we will be paying as we go when we sail this week.
I’m hoping to confirm that Carnival still offers a double shot for $3 more.
Are there any other available discounts on drinks?
Thanks.

IMO, that’s way too much in one day. We have done both the Amazing Race and swam with the dolphins (on different days) and I can’t imagine doing both excursions the same day.

IMO, spend your $444 on something better. I think it’s way too much for 5 nights...ask if they have a better offer available. We recently upgraded on the Sunshine from an ocean view to a balcony for $40...and that was for an 8 night cruise.
On another note, we’ve sailed the Paradise 5 times...it’s a great ship! Enjoy!

Ok, I know what you mean to say, but the doors are "NOT" magnetic. The doors are metal that magnets will stick to. If they were magnetic, it would be real hard to open them since they would stick to the metal frames.
So magents will stick to them, but it is better just to bring tape or these. Command strips.

As you said, you knew what I meant. :).
Thanks for the answer but, unfortunately, it sounds like magnets won’t stick to all the doors. Guess I’ll be using Command strips.

Magnets don't stick to the door on floor 10. they stick to the bathroom door only. I used command strips on my door to hang something .....I was just on the sunshine. The spa rooms on the 10th floor have different doors then the rest of the ship so I'm not sure they could be metal.

Are the doors on the Carnival Sunshine magnetic and if not...what are we allowed to use to secure the signs?
We are going on a cruise for my daughter's graduation and I would like to be able to put a sign out on the door.
Thanks!

I’ve sailed both and I would pick the Victory. Larger ship and almost always cheaper. Both are great ships though!

True, but is it worth 1,400.00-1,600.00 more for Havana , to miss chair hogs?
I agree, it definitely would not be worth that much. However, it’s not that big of a difference. I think it is $150 pp difference for our 8 night summer cruise in an interior. Now that’s definitely worth it...IMO.

Thanks everyone :). From what I am reading, it seems that the rule is to sail within four years. However, it “may” be possible to get an extension.

Do I have to just book the cruise within four years or actually take the cruise within the 4 years?
Thanks :).

Silly question time.
If I want to tip extra on Cheers drinks is it better to hand them cash or add to the check?
We tip $1 extra (for the two of us) each round and just add it to the bill. They appreciate either way...it’s all the same.

Thanks for sharing your comments!
Do you know why the couple complained to the manager about at Teppanayki?
Yes :). Our table had dinner reservations at 6:00. They had booked a show that started at 7:00. They were upset that they missed their show. Now...at the beginning of the dinner everyone was asked if they had been to Teppanyaki before and they said yes. So they understood that dinner normally takes more than an hour.
They first complained to the server. Then they complained to the manager. Then eventually he brought them a bottle of wine. [emoji57]

We just got off the Epic this morning. It was a four night cruise to Nassau and GSC.
A little background info. This was our third NCL cruise and our 15th cruise in total. I booked this cruise way back in November of 2016. The reason I booked this particular cruise was because we had sailed the Epic before and really enjoyed her and it was a week I knew I would be off of work.
I suspected that this sailing would have a lot more spring breakers, due to the timing and length of the cruise. However, when I booked, the price was only $299 per person for an inside cabin, including the drink package. I couldn’t pass it up. I’ll be honest though...after reading the reviews from last weeks 4-night Epic cruise, I was a little nervous that it might be a little too much of a party cruise!
The ports.
GSC - We did not get off at GSC because of the crowds. Which meant a very enjoyable, and crowd-free time on the pool deck :).
Nassau - Been there three other times so we just got off and walked around for about an hour. Weather wasn’t the best so we headed back to the ship.
——-
The great.
Teppanyaki - The meal was fantastic, the pacing was great, the chef was fabulous. It was a great experience. Sadly, there was a couple seated at our table who complained to the manager so they could get a free bottle of wine. They were ridiculous. [emoji849]
Debarkation - We self-disembarked today. We were in our car by 7:30 this morning and back at our house by 10 AM. It was the fastest time for us to ever get off of any ship.
Howl at the Moon - We love dueling piano bars and this did not disappoint. It was very entertaining.
Cirque - We had the standard seating in a booth. It was not sold out so we did not have to share a table. The artists were amazing and it was super enjoyable.
Our cabin - The last time we stayed in an inside cabin was 2013. I was a little concerned that we would not like it. But we LOVED our cabin. Having already sailed the Epic, I was aware of the weird bathrooms. And while I do not like the bathroom set up (and I would not share a cabin like this with anyone but my husband!) I was OK with it. We found there to be more than enough storage for the two of us and we absolutely LOVED how dark it was...we slept in every day!
Cabin Steward - He was friendly and kept the cabin very clean.
Internet - Worked great!
——-
The Good.
Embarkation - Walked right in and we were assigned zone 4 - on the ship by 11:45. My only complaint was that it was hard to hear what zone they were calling. Which caused lots of people to crowd around.
Cagney’s - We have eaten there three other times and it’s always been great. This time it was good...but not “wow”. And the service was very, very slow.
Le Bistro - It was delicious, but again, slow service.
Maltings - This was our go-to bar the last time we were on the Epic. This time we also found it was a great bar to spend time at. Our server was super fabulous. But it was often very crowded.
———
The ridiculous.
Drinks - Come on NCL...if you are going to include the drink package for all your cruises then double the bartenders and servers. The wait times were insane at times. 20-30 minutes. And while we didn’t go to GSC, we heard from several others that the wait time there was closer to 45 minutes. Many of these people were first time NCL cruises and said they would never sail on NCL again due to the slow service.
Napkins - This may be trivial to some, but I found it annoying. Drinks were not served with napkins. Not at one single bar.
——-
Overall thoughts.
Overall, the cruise was wonderful. It was exactly what we needed, lots of rest and relaxation. And probably too much drinking and eating!
As for all of those spring-breakers (and there were a ton!), I have to say that most were very well-behaved and we only encountered a few (aren’t there always!) that were a little obnoxious.
Should We Accept Sunshine Upgrade?
in Carnival Cruise Lines
Posted
If you want to stay on deck 5, just keep your cabin. For me, it would depend on the amount they wanted to upgrade. We also received an upgrade offer on our 8 night Sunshine in June - oceanview to a balcony - and we took it.
