  1. WE are using FF miies, so booked way in advance for June 2014-PDX to LGA, had booked same flight # with stop in DFW.

Have been changed to PDX-ORD-LGA, layover in ORD is 45 min., even on website , on the bottom of that selection, states Note: flight time connection.

Is this very doable? We may have one checked bag.

This is the second trip we have planned for 2014 that we got changed to very short connections times- the first one being in Feb that I did call and get changed, it also had the little caveat "Note connection time", that was PDX-DFW-FLL.

Have not been to Chicago in 20 yrs. does American use only one terminal?

Is it customary for FF users to get put on the short connections when change in schedules occur? Just curious.

  2. Attended the Q&A session recently on the Jewell about laundry services. I learned that your bag of laundry, regardless of colors are washed together in a laundry bag marked with your cabin #. Just for info- whites wash with black, etc. Previous poster stated whites came back real white- well ours did not and above explains this. We are platinum, in the future we will use one free bag for whites and one free bag for colors.

  3. FYI- we just called reception on numerous occassions and requested an iron and board- did the ironing- left it in the hallway to be picked up- after we called and said we were done. Just in case you do another NCL.

Very much enjoying you review- we will be on the Jewell, in 25 days!!

  4. Please tell me what kind of coffee maker you had in your suite?? Was it a Lavazza coffee/espresso maker?

We will be in an SF other side from yours in Sept. for a Panama Canal Cruise, how was your Butler, did he/she mention they were onboard for the next few months?

Looking forward to your review, any tips for Suite Passengers on the Jewell?

    Many thanks

  5. Any flushable wipe is is not compatible with a Ships flushing system! that is why there is a sign do not flush Anything other than the TP provided. At some point this could cause a major back up, We had a flood in our suite cabin a few years ago, it is not nice to wake up to, our Suite never completely dried out (carpet) for the rest of the Cruise. Flushable at home is not the same Onboard!

  6. Called prior to our cruise on theDawn Oct-Nov Cruise- none of my little requests were taken care of, no big deal, Butler and Room Attendant took care of them ASAP.

The Conciergne on the Dawn at that time was Virginia (very good service and nice lady).

Our Butler was Lazarro (second time with him) he is a very dedicated employee and his service was the best.

We were in an AFT Penthouse.

  7. We were on the Star Panama Canal Cruise with you, what a great job you did as "traffic director" on our cabin crawl! Your thanksgiving decorations on your door always directed me the right direction to our cabin. great you are going in a SUITE this time.

Would like to request ahead of time to have mini fridge emptied out, no biggie but one less request to make when we get onboard, we are low maintenance when it comes to Butler requests but have a few things we want the space for.

Still have tshirt from the cruise, it was awesome. Met you first at the Doubletree in San Pedro as you were arriving.

  8. What is the current price for a taxi from LAX to San Pedro (Doubletree)?

This would be on a Sat. evening about 8pm, if that matters, hopefully traffic would be light?

    an approximate would be appreciated.

Have done sS before but would like to get to the Hotel at a reasoable hour.

    thanks

  9. Thank you Videotech! I have always wanted to respond to Butler, Concierge tipping but felt my opinion was in the minority, but for others out there booking a suite; we can afford the first category of a "real suite", we pay for this knowing what NCL has included in their pricing regarding the services of a butler and concierge. If you are low maintenance like us, no in room meals, no reservations the tipping (which we do, not sure why) I feel is really a feel good experience if you can afford it. The cabin steward which we see several times a day and I feel dependent on for a good cruise always gets a good tip. Last cruise, May 2011, did not personally see the Butler until day 3, but did contact him through notes left in the cabin, and he did bring ice in!
