  1. My first SB cruise is next month and I think we are on the same cruise.  Trying to approach this issue from another direction, if you know or can determine the brand of tv in the cabin, you might be able to download the associated app for your smart phone and have the control you need.

  2. My first Seabourn cruise is in about 4 weeks, so can't answer many questions, but can point you to the cabin setup page.  Scroll to the bottom of the main SB web page and click on "Check In" in the middle column at the bottom of the page.  Enter booking/confirmation number and last name, then Continue button.  Select "All Guests" and Continue.  Select Prefs and enter login information (email/Seabourn club number) and password.  Select booking number.  At this point, you should have page allowing you to select items for cabin bar, pillow types, celebrations, etc.

I am ASSUMING SB will be the same as on our other cruise lines.  You can do what you want (within reason) and the cruise line doesn't care.  You are not required to use SB shore excursions, if that is what you are asking.  Also, at least some shipboard facilities will be open.  Again, on other cruise lines, spa prices tended to be lower on port days.  I do NOT know that is the case on SB.  Happy sailing!

  3. D-33 days until our first Seabourn cruise!!  I haven't been able to find specifics on the wifi package in terms of where/when to purchase a package.  I've found pricing.  Is there a difference in pricing in purchasing before boarding vs after boarding?  Is it only available after boarding?  Thanks!

  4. At the risk of not doing it justice, a person that has previously sailed on Seabourn and planning/scheduled for an additional cruise, requests/gets a coupon from Seabourn.  This person convinces a "friend" to sail on Seabourn and enters the friend's residence and cruise booking information on the coupon and submits it to Seabourn.  The friend then gets a $400 (not sure it is always USD or not) in onboard credit (OBC) when s/he takes the cruise.  The original passenger gets $400 OBC after the friend completes his/her cruise and the original passenger takes her/his cruise.

  5. SKP946 - NOT directed at you, only relaying what I consider sage advise my wife and I received on our first cruise in 1989.  If you are one to partake in adult beverages, an older couple told us "youngsters" to combat the effects of sea sickness, skip the patches, etc. and maintain a constant "low" level of adult beverage in you system at all times.

  6. I just go to the Seabourn web site and work through the process as though I was booking a cruise.  I generally do this while sitting front of the tv going mind numb anyways.  It is a bit time consuming, but after a few times it gets to be quicker.  I select the different level of cabins (er, suites) and count how many are still showing as available.  As AnnieO pointed out, they may be available because "lots" of folks are playing suite roulette and not picking a suite until it gets assigned.

  7. Hey MJN1 - a bit of a diversion off topic.  when did you do the 14 day r/t Athens trip?  We are scheduled for July and wonder how much things could have changed since your trip in terms of needs of excursions.  I am thinking there might be one or two ports where I might want to do an excursion (on our own) and then the balance roaming around on our own.

  8. It is a single 14 night sailing.  I have received the preliminary travel planner.  I can't find anything specific on which days are elegant vs formal.  Only that after 6 pm, dress shall be either elegant or formal.  Nights 2 thru 4 depart at 8, 6, and 4, respectively.  I am going to assume night 3 will be formal.

  9. Off the TK theme a bit.  We are on 14 night Greek island cruse.  Nights 6 and 10 are sea days.  (That sounds strange!)  Are those two nights likely to be the formal nights?  If not, is there a pattern as to which nights are formal?  Getting back on TK theme, looking to book TK reservation on non-formal night.

  10. efromwoodland, i just sent you an email about your offer.  As I look at this thread, again, I am confused.  In the post immediately above, it appears you are looking to provide a new Seabourn passenger your referral coupon, but two posts above you appear to be asking for a coupon for your new travel partners.  Are you looking to share one or do you need one for your travel partners?

  11. Trying not to create more confusion than I already have, let me ask these questions: what is Seabourn's process for trying to fill a ship?  Do they try to upsell the folks (early, late, or all booked passengers) in the lower categories (Ocean View, guarantee, confirmed V1 thru V4, V5 & 6) to the penthouse and above suites; then resell the lower categories?  I am not looking to play suite roulette any further than I already have.  I started with a guarantee V1 and have already selected what I hope is a good higher level verandah suite.  I'll find out how good a suite roulette player I am in July!

  12. That is why I am not in charge of anything/anyone, including myself!  Didn't think of that.  I was going by experience with another line where the guaranteed cabin was provided within a week of booking, several months out from the cruise.  I should have read the BIG PRINT on the web pages where you can select a guarantee or specific suite.  I am still looking forward to the cruise in 73 days.  YES!  I am counting.

  13. Might be a bit off topic, but ...  July's Greek island cruise is about 20% empty for the Ocean View and Veranda suites (vs total suite inventory).  I haven't looked at the other categories.  This being my first Seabourn cruise, I am looking forward to the enhanced service.  I guess I am going to be spoiled even more than I initially anticipated, if the occupancy rate stays where it is today!

They have extend the sale I think three times now.  I wonder if they will be going for four with all the empty suites.

  14. Sorry folks, back to ask a couple of questions on the referral coupon program.  Not sure if I misunderstood what I thought I heard from Seabourn or I am being cautious on sharing data.  Taking a theme from my previous post on this subject, this is not directed at anyone.  I understood from Seabourn to use the program I need to provide my last name and booking confirmation number for my upcoming cruise.  Using these two pieces of data, I can log into my reservation and see a bunch of personal information, address, phone, emergency contract info, etc.  So my questions: (1) did I misunderstand the process for "redeeming" the coupon or (2) am I just trading the coupon value for trying to not release "too much" personal information?  Thanks for putting up with my obnoxious questions.
