  1. I keep seeing Hyatt place recommended for FLL. Any other good ones near port and/or airport around the same price? Arriving early the day before and want to find a good seafood restaurant and also hit a store to get water & pop to bring on board. Thanks!! Seafood restaurant is more important than the store..can always find a CVS somewhere. LOL :D

  2. Me and my wife will be going on the norwegian breakaway for our honeymoon in September. This will be my first cruise, her 5th. We will be in the haven suites. Room 12904 aft facing balcony. I was wondering if anybody ever experienced feelings of panic knowing you are in the middle of the water with nothing around for miles! How do/did you deal with that feeling. Thanks in advance!!

    I must admit standing on my balcony at night looking and seeing nothing but water sometimes it throws a bit of uneasiness into me..but then..I just have another DRINK and it soon goes away! :D

  3. Sticky notes pad, a pen, bandaids or small first aid kit and EXTRA pair of prescription glasses!! On one cruise I was on my balcony looking over and the lense FELL OUT into the ocean!! I wear bi-focals so reading the menu at dinner was a nightmare and also amusing, (to other people) seeing me try to use one lens to read!! :p

  4. people have reported on here about being put on a wait list for a cabin only to find out that it was available on their own. It does not seem like rci manages wait lists well. Best to keep checking on your own,

    check at 120 days out as that is when ta's have to release back to rci i any unsold inventory and at final payment time.

    thanks ken!!! :d

  5. Going on FOS later this month and stopping at St. Maartin. Want to go to Orient Beach but would rather not do a tour. Does anyone know what the cab fare is from the port to the beach? Are there usually taxis available coming back? Thanks for your help.

    lots of cabs available to Orient. Not sure if this is accurate but I remember paying $6 a piece. Just ask any bartender or server to get you a cab..there are plenty around when ships are in port

  6. We've got 3 people booked in an interior room and would love it if anyone has pictures of what the third bed will look like. Its room 7667 if that helps. A picture of 7636 or similar would be awesome too (one of the balcony rooms on the hump).

    Did a search

    Here is a post from the same exact question I asked, since I too, did not know what a hump was, lol

    There are some nice pictures here:

    Some of us are bringing school supplies on a RCI ship next month. Below is the email that was sent to the passenger who had the idea.

    We appreciate the opportunity to respond to your inquiry about bringing school supplies to children in Haiti and we are honored by your generosity and thoughtfulness. We have included the step by step process for donating supplies to the L'Ecole Nouvelle School in Haiti (ENRC).

    To make any school supply donations please follow the following guidelines.

    Please be aware that we are unable to donate or provide transportation of any goods donated outside of Labadee as we do not have Customs personnel on site to clear the donated goods.

    We ask that you limit the supplies to a maximum of three carry-on suitcases or of boxes similar in size. Once you have collected the supplies being donated please submit a detailed list of what items are being donated. Please include the following:

    -- Ship you are sailing on

    -- Sailing date

    -- Description of item

    -- Total quantity of item

    -- Total number of boxes/suitcases used to pack donated items.

    The list above will need to be submitted to ndiaz@rccl.com no later than one week before your sailing date.

    Upon receiving a detailed list of the goods being donated we will then alert the Labadee Site Manager and your ship's Hotel Director and provide them with the list you created.

    To facilitate a smooth delivery please label each box/suitcase being donated with the following:

    TO: L'Ecole Nouvelle Royal Caribbean

    c/o Hotel Director

    <Ship Name>

    FROM: <First & Last Name>

    <Ship Name>

    <Stateroom Number(s)>

    <e-mail address>

    Upon arriving to your ship's terminal, drop off your boxes or suitcases with the donated items along with your personal luggage. The donated items will be delivered by the luggage team to the Hotel Director, who will then ensure that the items get delivered to our Labadee Site Manager. The Labadee Site Manager will coordinate with the school and deliver your donated goods.

    Both the Hotel Director and the Labadee Site Manager will be notified of the items prior to sailing via e-mail and a reminder e-mail will be sent to them the day before your sailing.

    Attached please find the 2013-2014 School Supply List.

    Again, thank you for your generosity and for making a difference in the lives of these Haitian kids!

    The Crown & Anchor Society was created as a recognition program that offers members-only benefits and valuable rewards. Please look for the paperless Ultimate Value Booklet coupons that will be loaded on to your SeaPass Card, so that you can take advantage of the special discounts available to you onboard.

    As a Crown & Anchor Society member, we thank you for being one of the 50 million guests we have had the pleasure of welcoming onboard! 8. Actually, this is why I LIKE cruising. Ships usually go around bad weather, go to a different port OR you just have fun on board. I booked a week long trip a few years ago to Mexico (to try instead of cruising), and the weather was storms all week!! We were either stuck in our room or in a taxi. Of course the resort is not going to give you your $$ back! It was horrid! I kept thinking..IF I was on a ship I would be able to enjoy this so much more! Just ENJOY your cruise !! :p

  9. Oh, Paul I have one of those ! (Not the 17 yo) Just last night she was crying that she hates her job, (a paid internship working on props for a wonderful theater where her desk by a window overlooks the Atlantic Ocean) and her life (living in a beach house on the Atlantic Ocean) :rolleyes:

    OMG..I LOVE this!! Thanks for sharing. So glad my kids are no longer teenagers! This gave me quite a laugh :D

  10. So for those of you who often cruise in early Dec, between thanksgiving and Christmas and not on - when do you book to get the best deals? We have never booked this time of year but I thought I read what a great time it was for pricing. I'm looking at the Dec 7th allure sailing and pricing is higher than our end of May sailing when I thought pricing was high. Trying to figure out when is the best time to purchase for the best deal. I've got my parents and my sister and her family talked into a family trip instead of everyone traveling for the holidays to each other. BUT I want to steer everyone in the right direction here and get us the best pricing. I use a major online travel agent to get free gratuities, dinner, and OBC and would prefer to still book with them.

    Thanks everyone for your expertise! :)

    I booked a Christmas Cruise on IOS about a month ago because it was the only time my husband will be off with his new job. The price was high but I saw the rooms were filling quickly so I got in. I checked the price yesterday on our balcony cabin and saw a price drop so I called and got $600 off! If you book, just keep checking back on line and get the price drops..Good Luck!:o

  11. Thanks for all of your input. To tell you the truth, the more I think about it, the more I think I would rather cruise with kids then a lot of grumpy older folks I have run into over the years!! LOL I will miss my grandkids so I have to make sure I enjoy the kids on board and not start to become ONE of those grumpy old folks!! You all have given my an new insight!!:D I *might* even bring some small trinkets in my purse to occasionally hand to a child I see behaving . After all, it IS Christmas :p

  12. I sailed on Indy in June last year and May this year and ate in Giovanni's Table on both cruises.

    If you had asked your question earlier in the year I would have been so positive about my dining experience there. The food, staff and ambience were lovely and I couldn't fault it. However, this May the staff were different and had a couldn't care less attitude. The food was only average and what was annoying is that we had a table booked for ages as we were celebrating a birthday in our party and they didn't seem ready for our booking. They showed us to one table, once they made us stand there whilst they put some tables together (there were only five of us) then they moved us, then they wanted to move us again and we said no. All in all not a great experience.

    We are going on Indy again in November....we will not be going back.

    YIKES!! Not good! Thanks for your input and hoping to hear from others :eek:
