  1. Soooo....I just had to look this up....RCCL wants to bring water slides to all Oasis class ships and maybe Quantum...but its not clear to me if they mean the Abyss or the 3 other ones...Typhoon, Cyclone and Supercell....anyone know?...I found this article on the royal Caribbean blog siite

  2. Hi everyone....so we have booked a cruise for 2017 while we were onboard Freedom a few weeks ago...and have since booked another for 2018 but both were booked directly thru RCCL.

Do any of you book thru the cruiseline and then transfer the booking to a TA?

If so, is it because they can offer additional perks or discounts?...or do you just like having that same person to call if you need something?

This last cruise we booked online and kept the reservation thru RCCL...?...just wondering your thoughts.

    Thanks everyone.

  3. We "always" bring a case of water in a duffle bag and only had an issue once. They asked me to go to the "bad" room. I did; he asked me to open the bag. I showed him the case of water that still had the shrink wrap around it and off I went. That duffle bag now get's to carry my dirty laundry off the ship.

We did the same exact thing a few weeks ago on Freedom...minus getting called to the bad room. Our duffle bag made it to our room with the luggage. On another note I totally forgot and put our 2 bottles of wine in that duffle bag too...meant to take it out when we got to the port but forgot...the wine somehow survived getting tossed around and was safe with the water...I don't know how the bottles didn't break...lol....ohh and we used the duffle bag for dirty laundry too

  4. I was just looking at my bookings at a price per day just before I read this....lol...I like thinking of it that way too.

We are booked on Freedom the week after, which is the 8 day.

We have an aft D1 balcony that we booked on board and we are at approx. $155 p/p....I think that may be high but we like the ship, like having the extra night, love the balcony location and like the itinerary...so I guess for us its worth it.

  5. We are trying a Central Park view on our fist Oasis cruise in November. I'm really excited about this as it IS a change from our norm. I figure, how will I know if I like it if I don't even try. I'm on the ship so it can't 'ruin' my vacation. Its just something new. Also, they obviously sell so they must not be that bad.

Give it a try and make your own decision. If you find its not your cup of tea you will know for next time. If you don't try, you will never know.

    Have a great cruise.

We just booked our first Oasis class ship this week and have the last Boardwalk aft cabin on deck 12. I have the same attitude...this is a change for us also...we have always had an ocean view balcony. I can and have read Boardwalk/Central Park reviews until I am blue in the face but the only ones that will know if we like it is us....so we are gonna give it a shot. Like you said...how can it ruin your vacation right...Plus starting with the Nov 2016 sailings for get the free Eat, Drink, Play package so that's alittle extra perk.

  6. Thank you ADPMOM...great pics btw.

This will be our first non ocean balcony...and we love the aft balcony on the Freedom class ships as well as the ocean sounds but I am curious and excited to try this room/view....Plus you get the free Eat, Drink, Play package as a perk.

The one thing I did realize looking at the deck plans is that with 3 of us in a room, not all of the end Boardwalk rooms accommodate 3 people...so I think that almost locks me in to one end room each on decks 9, 10 and 12.

Thank you again everyone for chiming in.

  7. It came out a few months ago. :) Supposed to be standard for Boardwalk Balcony's now. There were also some perks (a bit different) for Central Park Balcony's.

Here is pretty much the same info from the RCCL site...just pan down alittle on this page when it opens.

Even though the link is for Harmony, note the astrek that says OA Class Ships.

  8. Thanks everyone....so we booked 12729...it was the only end room available until I got to deck 9....9729.

Now comes the time when I over analyze my selection...lol..We just came off our first aft balcony on Freedom and I know Oasis is a totally different ship.

I know its all personal preference but I truly value everyones opinions here on.

Do you think being alittle lower may increase the ocean views?

I know 12729 offers more cover from the weather.

any thoughts/opinions between deck 12 and deck 9?

Thanks again for the help...you all are awesome.

    Eric

  9. Note that the overhang/super structure covers the whole balcony for 12329, just like it does for our 12729 starboard side:

Thank you for posting the pics...what is that glass area to the left of room 12329?...is that another room?...does that get in the way of your view?

Also the rock wall is close to the balcony?...if so, did you find that to be a problem with privacy?

Thanks to all for the info.

    Eric

  10. We had 12729 on Oasis. Great views but if I had to do it over again I would have gone with deck 11 but still was neat to just go out on your balcony and see the show, the ocean and the rock climbers.

Hi...just curious...why would you take deck 11 over deck 12..we are looking to book for 2018...thanks for your thoughts.

    Eric

  11. Main shows change every 5 to 6 years +.

Drew Thomas seems to be glued to the Freedom.

Ice show, same as main stage shows.

Guest entertainers like comedians, jugglers, aerialists, etc., change from cruise to cruise.

Schooner bar pianists come and go, varying with the lengths of their contracts.

I was hoping you weren't going to say that...my wife may kill me for booking the same ship...but I really wanted the extra day...lol

  12. We have our first aft on Freedom (Deck 10) in a couple weeks and are looking forward to the huge balcony...but have already booked 1700 for Liberty in 2018. We saw that 1400/1700 cabins are a lot larger too but have some concerns now about the balcony being too closed in for that cabin.

That being said, we are considering switching to the aft 7408/7708 for Liberty because the balconys are larger and more open.

Anyone here in 1400/1700 or 7408/7708 for the April 17 Freedom sailing?...would love to take a quick peek.

  13. thanks for posting such a great review with photos.

Now I am really confused...lol...we will be in 1702 on Freedom in a couple weeks but have booked 1700 for Liberty in 2018. While I loooove the extra room size of 1700, I am not sure I like that closed off balcony area of 1700 but I am in love with the balcony's of the 7408/7708...what to do, what to do...
Maybe I can get a look at 1700 while we are on Freedom to better help our decision. If I do, I will report back.

    Thanks again
