How is the new internet aboard? I hear mixed reviews; some amazing, some very poor.

The  basic Internet included for us last week was fine for browsing.. checking emails...WhatsApp messaging. Couldn't send or receive WhatsApp photos...or Snapchat photos to/from my girls...but was able to send and receive photos by facebook messenger and i-message. I certainly wouldnt bother paying for faster internet personally.

  3. We too are just back from this cruise and can only echo everything the OP said about the ship. We were lucky enough to be in a SV and the balcony was huge. Fortunately we got this when the cruise was first released and paid a very good price...still not convinced about going in an IV having seen them from the outside but maybe they'd be ok going by this topic. Service on board was by far the best we've received in our 6 celebrity cruises so far...never had to wait longer than a minute or 2 for waiter service and didn't queue once in any of the 4 MDRs at around 8.30. Gobsmacked by the amount of seating areas dotted around and couldn't believe how unused the sunset bar seemed to be as this was a  brillaint area. Favourite place was rooftop garden where we spent a lot of time watching the world cup...again...constant waiter service up there..only used ocean view at breakfast and lunch but food was brilliant. Im definately in love with this ship and not sure now how I'll feel when boarding Constellation for the 1st time on our next cruise. Eden is also something else...but did feel like a lot of wasted seats on the upper levels as we very rarely saw anyone sat up there apart from watching the shows late at night...sad to be home .

  4. Currently on beyond and can confirm no fixed dining..we had booked late fixed but in our stateroom was a card inviting us to a specific MDR at between 5.30 and 6.15 or alternatively visit any other MDR at any time. We have attended all 4 around 8.30 so far and have not had to wait behind anyone when we got there.

    Hi

I have got 10% discount on our upcoming cruise using blue light card just had to book with Celebrity direct and scan over proof after booking ..

Can you enter the details online and see what the price is with the discount or do you have to ring celebrity?

  6. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the "price promise" but I read that as relating to instances when you could get the same cruise booked via someone else at a cheaper price rather than direct with celebrity....hence the reason for funding it on the same day. I can't imagine there's many,if any, instances that you book a cruise direct and that the price changes the same day....might be wrong but that's how I understand the price promise.

I think this is one of those times where we see the price change in the UK, but don't get the offer...

We saw similar changes in our Australia cruise where the prices dropped when the Memorial Day weekend sale started in the US, and then went up when their 'BOGO 60% off' sale started.

It is irritating, but so very normal sadly. Not like we are actually missing much this time though.

Surely they cant charge that price for a 2 week cruise - never seen those prices before !! this is only for a lowest category verandah as well.....price is almost £4,000 less for the similar cruise on Princess so looks like i might be trying another princess cruise 😊

  8. ha ha - i just came on here to ask the question about whether another flash sale was imminent as i priced up a Panama Canal in April 2023 yesterday - was just over £6,000 which i though was too expensive...checked this morning and its gone up to almost £9,000 !!!!! I'm guessing there's some sort of offer going to come on to bring it back down - annoying as hell !!

  9. we've just returned from 7 days on Eclipse in a FV  on deck 8 - just the two of us - it was massive - the balcony was larger too. i dont normally feel the movement on the ship as we normally go for midship but i took advantage of a glitch/error on the celebrity uk website one morning and got this cabin for an absolutely ridiculous price - however i could definitely feel the movement on the first morning - it was so bad that i didnt think i was going to be able to last the week - but then it wasnt as rough after that and i hardly felt it. it is a long walk to the MDR or Ocean View end of the ship, didn't bother my hubby but i started to get fed up of having to traipse through the ship each time. If you can get it at a good price then its probably worth it for the extra space, but think we will go back to midship for next cruises. Didnt hear any noise though- except when the captain was sounding the fog horn all through the night - not sure whether everyone heard this as much as us as i dont know where it is 🙂

  10. apologies - didnt mean to confuse anyone 🤣 to be honest - my question to Celebrity UK was more just out of concern for being identified as a close contact of a covid case on our first cruise say in the MDR - departing 3rd May - and then being denied boarding on the next cruise because we had been in contact within 14 days etc-  I asked about refunds due to the covid assistance program finishing 30.04.22 - he responded saying it was being extended, so because this thread was all about it finishing i thought id let you all know what he had said - be it right or wrong 🤷‍♀️ Im not even sure if the covid assistance program would cover that scenario anyway as i havent actually read up on it - but our insurance wouldnt cover it either i dont believe..so i was panicking a bit. I'm not sure what happens if you answer the health questionnaire truthfully and say you have been in close contact with covid ?? would that normally mean you couldnt go - or just warrant a test? which we will be doing anyway as we have to

I would assume Celebrity US would follow. Did they say extended thru what date?

No - i just asked what would happen to us regarding covid exposure when we are doing a sort of b2b - 2 days apart - as i was concerned that being identified as close contact on cruise 1, would stop up boarding cruise 2, and that as the covid assistance finished 30.04.22 then would we still get refunded etc, and he just replies to tell me the covid assistance program was being extended and as long as we tested negative in the 2 days between cruises we wouldnt be denied boarding...

  12. not sure what celebritys contact tracing is like - but my husband was contacted by phone on a princess cruise at the end of last year to tell him he had been in contact with a positive case on board. they asked if he felt ok - had he made any friends who he had sat close to regularly - answered no on both counts - thats fine they said - end of contact tracing situation.

Celebrity Silhouette departing Vancouver roundtrip on 15 May 2022.

Embarkation requires antigen test within 2 days beforehand. Cruise is part of multistage trip, so will be in Vancouver hotel (near Canada Place departure terminal) for three days prior to boarding.

Any recommendations on cheapest/most convenient private testing location would be appreciated.

(Information from Celebrity suggests that pre-arrival testing can be done by purchasing the following:

    MONITORED SELF-TEST KIT -
    ABBOTT BINAXNOWTM COVID-19 AG CARD

When I pursued this option, I found that it is biased towards US travellers - seems to ship only to US addresses, and accepts US based payment methods).

Has anyone tried to do this?

sorry - assumed it was eclipse you were on as we sail same day from vancouver but just re-read and see its silhouette - my question is still the same though 🙂

have you considered buying a supervised test kit from the uk before you travel - taking it with you  and scheduling an appointment to be tested by teams/zoom whilst in canada the day before boarding eclipse??? only asking because its what we are thinking of doing and wanted input from someone else on whether it was feasible....
