The rest will be coming. I mean New Zealand has had no community spread for months and Australia is doing far better than the United States in managing this (about 50 cases in the past 24 hrs in Australia vs. around 37,000 new cases in the States). If those countries don't allow cruising then how could the U.S. start up again?

Our cruise is Asia ..not US ...but considering Japan aren't even letting tourists in at the moment I don't understand why celebrity don't just cancel the damn thing and put us out of our misery !!

My cruise (Eclipse November 10) has been showing sold out except for suites for a couple of months, and the suites are priced  much, much higher than what we paid for ours.  We have known for awhile that this cruise won’t go since it originates from Singapore and they are nowhere close to lifting restrictions for tourists. My guess is that it’s Celebrity’s way of keeping too many people from just booking because they know it won’t sail and getting the 125%FCC.

have you made your final payment on this cruise??

  3. I was asking if they knew when the next announcement would be made as we were due to make final payment this weekend and they suggested I might want to hold off and ring them if I needed anything on Monday....then hinted we may possibly hear something tomorrow...so I'm reading into that  our cruise is going to be cancelled and they could help me rebook something else 😪😪😪

It has now been officially announced: All October sailings (except three AUS sailings) and three November sailings:

    https://www.celebritycruises.com/travel-alert/voluntary-suspension-of-cruising

The health and safety of our guests, crew, and the communities we visit is our top priority. As we work with the CDC and others toward this shared goal, Royal Caribbean Group will be extending the suspension of sailings to include those departing on or before October 31, 2020, excluding sailings from China and Australia.

    http://www.thecelebritycommitment.com/Voluntary_Suspension_of_Cruising.html

As the world continues to confront the many challenges resulting from COVID19, our top priority continues to be the health and safety of passengers, crew and the communities we visit. In order to ensure the most effective initiatives are in place for a healthy return to service, Celebrity Cruises will be extending the suspension of global operations for all departing on-or-before October 31st, 2020 along with three sailings in November, including the Celebrity Silhouette sailings of 11/8/20, 11/20/20 and Celebrity Infinity 11/16/20.

  6. interesting watch - thanks for that ....not sure theres too much to put me off if im honest....everything will be a lot easier to adhere to with reduced numbers anyway....just not sure who is going to police it all - like who is getting in and out of the pool and hot tub etc...

I am referring to South America and yes they will be cancelled. South America is not open to cruises. But even if it was, my point is why would you want to go there in the next 18 months. With unstable government, crime, extreme poverty, financial meltdowns. Ok I think I have overstated my case no need to keep hammering the nail.

your earlier post actually implied that you had it on good authority that these sailing were to be cancelled - someone was just asking what your source for this information was? now you seem to be saying  its just that you have it on good authority that no one will want to travel there which you can not possibly be sure of - in any way !

does anyone know why the sailings to South AMERICA ON DEC.6,DEC20 AND JAN.3 2021 SHOW NO CABINS AVIABLE  EXCEOTFOR RETRAT SUITES,I DOUBT ALL OTHER CABINS ARE SOLD OUT ON 3 SAILING DATES ?COULD THER BE PLANNING TO CANCEL THE CRUISES?

several threads on this issue - it appears to be common for a lot of cruises at the moment - even that far out - a lot of people saying its an indication of cancellation - personally im not convinced and think its hopefully to do with limiting numbers on cruises which may still sail

The cruise the OP is asking about is on 10/11 not in November.  Unless things have changed, currently both Vietnam & Singapore both are not allowing visitors.  When it becomes clear that a cruise can't go Celebrity has cancelled,.  That was the case when  Canada announced that would would not allow cruise ships with over 100 passengers until 10/31, Celebrity cancelled all impacted cruises on 6/2 which for the TP sailings and others was over 90 before final payment.

I didn't realise Vietnam and Singapore had announced no cruises till after the OPs cruise...

Where has the hypothesis that only selling the expensive suites means cancellations come from?

A lot of people have said they have seen the same situation shortly before the cruise is cancelled....this is too far in advance of the cruise though I think...they are November and december cruises...cant see why they would cancel them this far out really

The only thing I don't get is that you even questioning why. Sounds like Celebrity is doing the right thing. No complaints from me. Glad Celebrity canceled our  8 September 2020 cruise at the end of May before our final payment was due 13 June. Requested our non refundable deposit on 24 May and received it on 23 June.

I wasnt questioning "why they were doing it"...obviously the moral thing to do is not allow more people to book or it's not going ahead....just dont think it sounds like something they would do. Do you get it now?

We're on the Japan cruise (on Millennium) starting Oct 25, only the retreat is not sold out and of course, price is rather high for that..

Also for the same cruise but starting Oct 11, you can only book retreat class, but about $ 3500 cheaper...

So if high prices might indicate that cruises are cancelled, you would expect higher prices for the first cruise, not for the later one...

Also, the reposition cruise of the Millennium is cancelled and if the web info I found is correct it should be somewhere West Coast Canada...

i was kind of hoping they had blocked off all the other cabins on these cruises as they were planning on using the Millenium  for guinea pig cruises with reduced numbers just being those who had already booked - and therefore didnt want anyone else to book .....that hope is fading fast as more people seem to think its a sign of cancellation 😞

  13. The only thing i dont get about it being for  them preparing to cancel - is would they not prefer to get peoples cash in before cancelling the cruise? if so-  removing the cabins doesnt seem to make sense - surely they would rather have peoples money - then cancel and hold onto the cash for 90 odd days???

Let me ask this:  To those of you who got FCC and immediately booked or had an already booked cruise, were you able to apply that FCC "the moment" you got that cancellation notice or did you need to wait?

you cant apply the FCC until you have received your FCC certificate with a code that you need to enter - we re-booked in march as soon as our May cruise was cancelled but we didnt receive the FCC until 2 weeks ago so werent able to apply the FCC until then obviously

  15. i messaged the celebrity uk facebook people to ask why all cabins had been removed from availaiblty and was told it is because the cruise is sold out - as if !!!  no way that in the space of 3 days they have sold that many cabins in this environment...

Has anyone else noticed that a lot of Asia cruise are list as sold out from September to March?

yes - i posted about our november japan cruise on another thread - it cant be sold out as there were loads of cabins available just 3 days ago...only ones showing now are retreat at £7,000 pp - wondering why theyve removed all cabins from availability though??/
