Thank you for taking the time to post your photos. I appreciate the time you took to give a description too, especially for someone who has never been (like myself). The lack of crowds really allows one to enjoy the wonderful scenery. Were you out early in the morning or is it due to the time of the year? I know many places Northern Europe have later starts. Is it the same throughout Europe?

Thanks for the list Patti.
I just realized we didn't get a gift while on the Liberty last week. We did get our preselected item (bottle of beer for DH, water for me). Do you have to call before each cruise to get the D+ Amenity?
Guess I was so happy to be on the ship I forgot all about it.

Thanks Al,
The buses to Londonviadukten are our back-up plan in case we run out of time for that scenic walk from the Tjarhovsplan bus stop .

One more question about the buses. If we want to take the bus from Slussen back to Stad 167, could we take any of these buses 409, 410,442, 448, 449?
I just want to be sure that I understand the bus routes & schedules. :)

Thanks Northbound,
Herman's restaurant just happens to be where I got "lost" on my walk from the ship to the bus stop. When I did a "fly-by" this morning I saw where the stairs should be.

I can definitely recommend the walk from the bus stop at Tjärhovsplan down to the ship at Stadsgården.
From the bus stop cross the street and walk a few steps back towards the sea. There is a small staircase up to Fjällgatan, one of the most charming streets we have in Stockholm. On one side there are very nice old houses and on the other a great view over Stockholm. At the end of Fjällgatan turn right down Erstagatan to Folkungagatan, where you turn left. This street will take you down towards the ship.
Here is a map of the recommended walk down: http://maps.google.se/maps/ms?client=firefox-a&hl=sv&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=100446628536787947860.000486f302393ee8c6554&t=h&z=15
Is the staircase you refer to the one that is across the street from the bus stop with the bikes parked below, near Jimmy's steakhouse? I'm having a tough time "seeing" the staircase in the map.
If my in-laws are not up to walking and we decide to get the bus at "Londonviadukten", could you tell me how often the buses run to Slussen and how many minutes to Slussen. Where do we have to stand? I see the shelter and bikes lined up, will the red and white bus stop signs be easy to spot?
BTW, your detailed maps are great. I love "walking" the routes.

Just back from the 12 day Jewel of the Seas cruise. Warning! This ship seems to change piers quite often. Instead of Frihamnen it docked at the pier near the center of town. I prepared for Frihamnen and that was a mistake. Actually this ship docked at many different piers from the cruise one week before. So prepare for Stockholm with both piers in mind, just in case.
Luckily, I remembered that the Hop on Hop off boat goes directly to the closer pier. Thanks to the help on this thread.
If you are doing a baltic cruise soon, prepare for different piers in each port!
Good Luck......
Can someone tell me what pier RC's Jewel might use beside Frihamnen. This scenario happened to me on another cruise. I would like to be prepared for wherever RC drops us in Stockholm.
Thanks,
Sheal
P.S. Al, I printed out the Taxi tutorial just in case. I already had the reputable companies in my notes but this will be perfect for my "lets just grab this taxi" father-in-law. "One picture is worth more..."

Yes Ultime Thule is right. You don't have to go back to the main road, you can walk along the water.
To quote, just press the "quote" button at the bottom of the post you want to quote.
Great news, I'm sure either walk will be nice.:)
Thanks for help on the quote thing too.

"I think it should be possible to turn right when coming out from Vasa and then follow the side of museum to the small boat harbor and then along the harbour out to Alkärret road and follow the tram tracks along Falkenbergsgatan to Allmänna Gränd but I have never walked the middle part of the route myself, so I would like some with local knowledge to confirm."
Yes, I was wondering if there was a short-cut.:p
Wish I could figure out that quote thing!

Hi again,
With respect to the walk from Vasa to the ferry:
The walk takes about 10 minutes. Do we walk back out to the main road and walk to Allmanna Grand? The ferry stop is before we get to Grona Lund. Is this correct?
Bus #76 form Gamla Stan back to Frihamnen:
I believe there are 2 stops, Rantmastartruppan and Slottsbacken.
Is Rantmastartruppan where we will have come off the ferry? I am confused as I thought the ferry stop was Slussen terminalen.
Is Slottsbacken right near the Palace. I thought it was referred to as "Palace Hill".
Are there any other bus stops in Gamla Stan? Trip from these two stops to Frihamnen will take 15-20 minutes.
Thanks again,

Thank you north-bound,
I wanted to be sure we didn't miss the ceremony.

Hi,
I have 4 people in our group. Rather than purchasing 4 travelcards (400 SEK) could we just purchase a strip of 16 (180 SEK)to cover the following trips? Can the tickets be used for the ferry?
Our plans are bus 76 from Frihamnen to Vasa, ferry from Vasa to Slussen and then bus 76 back to pier. I'm guessing this would be 12 tickets?
If I can use the individual tickets, can these strips be purchased at the info shop or at the ticket machine at the bus stop?
Thanks so much,

Hi,
My understanding is that it starts at Nybroplan at 11:45, guards cross over Noorbro Bridge, ending at the palace. I read that the guards arrive at the Palace at 12:15 (1:15 on Sundays and Holidays)? When does the ceremony end?
Thank you very much,

I agree, I haven't heard of a bad review of Trunk Bay or Cinnamon Bay. We have visited both and enjoyed each one.

We went to Coki based on the many positive reviews. Our experience was not good. We were very disappointed with snorkeling and the bathrooms were disgusting the day we visited.
What really scared us and ultimately caused us to leave was when a fight broke out between two locals. They tumbled out onto the beach falling on a woman. Then one returned with a bat, right out on the beach. We, along with a few others, packed up at that point.
We will be visiting Sapphire or Megan's beach next time.

Flow rider and the rock wall are free. RC does offer private lessons on the flow rider, which would then be extra.
As to the kids activities (Adventure Ocean) there is no charge unless you leave them after hours (10 PM to 1AM).
