Thanks. I am mostly concerned about touring Harvard and MIT on that Saturday, and the availability of seats getting back on the trolley.
-
We will be staying in Boston Oct. 21-23 before our cruise and planning on using Upper Deck Trolley Tours HOHO all day on the 22nd to visit downtown, Harvard, and MIT. Wondering if we will encounter any problems with excessive crowds on that day? I would expect that anyone there for the event will be at the event, but it did just occur to me that there might be some issues.

I have a reservation with Enterprise which indicates that I just need to call them at least 24 hours in advance of my pickup time to arrange for them to pick me up. We have never rented a car while on a cruise but I am looking forward to exploring the lighthouses and other sights around Portland on our own.

So are you saying that the prices always come out the same regardless? This current offer seems a little better than most I have seen and I am trying to decide when to book. They keep coming up with new fake sales, there's really nothing to watch for. -
So what is the best "sale" to watch for, or do they all pretty much come out the same bottom line?

Thank you, very helpful!

Paraveina - on my day high tide is at 09:37 and low tide at 15:50. What would be the best time to see the reversing falls? I had hoped to be able to walk out to the caves but it looks like the tides are not working out for us that day.

I can't post the link right now but if you go to that board and scroll down to April 2 you will see my thread and why I chose Seaport.
-
Thanks 138east and PNW for the tips! I saw that earlier and it was now down to $216 so I booked it and got Seaport, $542 with taxes for 2 nights. Still a lot of money (for me) but happy with the choice and the price, considering!
-
Hey PNW! We are on your cruise and I booked directly with Seaport ($700 for 2 nights ) based on your posts. I will take a look at Hotwire and see what I can do.

I decided not to stay near the airport so am thinking downtown or seaport areas, and hoping for under $250. I have found some closer to $300 and so that is what we might have to do. Trying Priceline right now in those areas. We just booked this cruise so that is why so late in the game, plus of course I did not think to check what might be going on at that time!
I think we will just take a cab from the airport and to the cruise so just need something convenient to getting downtown. Thank you for your help! :)
Thinking about the Seaport Hotel; thoughts?

Oct. 21-23. I know we will have to take taxis at some point but I am just trying to minimize it. Looking at the map, maybe downtown, the North End/Waterfront area or the the Seaport/Convention Center area?

Oh, and affordable :p I know that's a lot to ask but I am trying to avoid racking up tons of taxi fares. We are staying 2 nights pre-cruise in October and don't mind public transportation; just want to do a little sightseeing including the Freedom Trail. We have never been anywhere back east so any help is appreciated!

What tour did you take? I have decided on Glory Tours but there are so many, I can't decide which one.

Jet Blue just released dates through Feb. 28. I have been waiting FOREVER and now it shows no flights available on the day we fly down and $600pp for the flight back! I wish I had booked a few months ago when the other carriers had fares for $458 rt! Now they are all $550-600. All that just to try to save checked bag fees. I will never wait on Jet Blue again. I am going to wait to see if the major carrier fares go down again, hopefully they will 3-4 months before our trip.

The tours listed above do not include the Railway. The tour that includes the Railway and Brimstone Hill is $110 per person; I think without Brimstone it is $90. The St. Kitts Tour Store sent me an e-mail including a form to complete and fax back including payment information as well as hotel or cruise ship information. Interesting that some people are being told that they have to book through the cruise line.
-
Did you go through stkittstourstore.com? On the website, click "How to Book" and fill out the information. They should e-mail you a confirmation form to fill out and fax back.I recently Emailed the St. Kitts store, and their reply to me was , "Book it through the cruise line."Hmm....

So, when you say quickly, how far in advance are you thinking? Our visit is over 7 months away and I am considering this, but wondering how far in advance I need to book it. Ours will be the only cruise ship in port that day. I am looking at the tour that includes Brimstone through the Tour Store.

Date: 02/10/2011 - 02/12/2011
# of nights: 2 (pre cruise)
Hotel: Marriott Stellaris Resort and Casino
Area: San Juan, PR
Site: Priceline
Winning bid: $110/night
Over the past couple of days I had bid $90-$100 with no luck so today just decided to go for $110 since so many people seem to be getting resorts for that. I was actually hoping for Caribe Hilton but I am sure all of the resorts are great.
