Have you ever sailed Quantum class, @KelJ?  That is what Anthem belongs to.

    😊

Yes, Carol, I know. And, yes, I have. I guess Michael has me confused with someone else. (It’s a dig at how “personal” the letter is.)

When you request a refund do you get the insurance costs refunded.

If you opt for a FCC does the insurance carry over.

How is the cruise RCI insurance handled when RCI cancels.

I didn't see this answered and I have the same question. When Royal cancels your cruise do they also refund you the cruise insurance?

Also when they give you the 125% credit, is that 125% of just the cruise fare and the other items are still refunded to credit card? (Taxes, fees, etc)

I read over the first few pages, but not the rest so forgive me if this has been brought up.

Does anyone know what they do with your current OBC that may be applied to your account (not given by cruiseline or TA) if your cruise gets cancelled? I have about $500 of OBC that I purchased using my RC points cc.

We will be playing the waiting game for our cruise...due to we will be the first sailing after they lift the 30 days (if it doesn't increase after that).

We are on the 4-12-20 Anthem transatlantic that hasn't been canceled yet.  I called RCCL Saturday night to book the April 2021 Anthem transatlantic in case our 4-12-20 gets canceled.  The rep told me that the RCI protection plan cost is never refunded after final payment date, even if Royal cancels.  He also told me that any FCC is based on CRUISE FARE ONLY and that my prepaid gratuities, Air2Sea charges, port taxes and cruise planner purchases (internet package, drink packages, dining package) would all be refunded in the form of original payment if I cancel or if Royal cancels.

I also asked about Royal Caribbean Visa OBC, as I have $200 in OBC applied to our 4-12-20 cruise.  He said that thus far the points are being returned to the credit card if Royal cancels but not if the passenger cancels.

We were on the March 30th Brilliance sailing.  Trying to weigh our options to decide if we want the FCC or refund.  I know we will be refunded everything that was prepaid (gratuities, drink package, etc.).  Does anyone know if the travel insurance will also be refunded?

We are booked on 4-12-20 Anthem TA.  I spoke with a Royal rep last night while booking the 4-25-21 Anthem TA.  He told me that we will not be refunded the amount we paid for Cruise Care insurance if the 4-12-20 cruise ends up getting canceled.     Maybe someone who has been canceled and had Royal’s Cruise Care insurance will post to confirm or deny this.

  4. Woo hoo!

    Dear Guest,

    Well, this round’s on us.

On Monday, July 1st, 2019, from 4:00 PM to 1:30 AM EST, we posted incorrect pricing of $18 USD per person, per day, for Deluxe Beverage Packages. Given that we typically price these packages at about $55 USD per person, per day, it was the (messed up) deal of the century.

This was a BIG mistake! It might have been bad code, a random computer glitch — or maybe we just need to reinstate our intern typing test.

Any which way, it was our error, and we’ll own it. Enjoy your deep, deep discount — while we go drown our sorrows.

    Happy 4th of July!

    Sincerely,

Well that is weird Kel. I was away from the computer yesterday and late to the party. I had to cancel our previous drink package purchase in an attempt to purchase the lower price that was showing in the planner. I received an "unable to add to cart" message. So after several attempts I just re-purchased it at the going price.

Normally that would result in a credit/debit to our charge card. Instead...we also received a new guest invoice from RCL last night. Apparently, instead of a refund to my credit card "they" decided to apply my $1625 drink package refund to my total cruise fare for my 2020 Allure sailing. So I will end up paying another $1625  for the drink package on my credit card next month. :classic_rolleyes: Nothing like forced payments.

In the long run, it doesn't really matter. But it seems odd that they decided how they would use my money or apply my refund. I suppose I could make a fuss, but it isn't worth it. :classic_rolleyes::classic_biggrin:

    Wow. Just wow. 😳

Edit to add:  Imagine if they cancel everybody’s $18 drink packages but just apply the credit to cruise fare still owed. I know everyone has to pay the cruise fare sooner or later, but I prefer to decide when.

Just got an email. It’s from Royal Caribbean Cruise Docs, though. It’s an Adventure Confirmation, which seems wrong. And it says, in Norwegian, please download the enclosed PDF of our detailed terms as you as a traveler are obligated to read.

The only thing enclosed is my Guest Copy of my confirmation invoice. Can’t see anything new on it, and it might have come because they took off my C&A number, or because I added it later. Nothing about The Glitch.

My money is still on hold.

I, out of the blue, received a new emailed guest invoice last night (9:51 pm). At first I thought it was going to be a drink package cruise planner cancellation. I printed it off today and compared it to my months-old guest invoice, and there was no change whatsoever, but for the invoice date.  I used OBC toward the drink package, but the OBC was still listed in the invoice.

I’ve read over the last couple days that many C&A members, like you, have had to re-enter their C&A numbers, but I haven’t had to do that.

    Weird coincidence?

Latest on Twitter: I'm so sorry for any miscommunication. We've made sure we're all on the same page so there's no confusion moving forward. Unfortunately, we won't be honoring that price, but we'll be offering 30% off to all sailings impacted by the glitch. -Candy

Thirty percent off of what? The onboard price that almost nobody pays?  The $50 price in my cruise planner is supposedly twenty percent off of the onboard price.

If you can't do them in advance, Coastal Kitchen on Anthem is up by the WJ, left entrance.  There is a podium in the corridor that is always staffed when it is open.  Check out the opening time for lunch on day 1 and go make your reservations as soon as it opens.  That is what we did and got every night booked.  The TA will have much more demand I am sure, but doesn't hurt to be first in line and get what you want. 🙂

Thank you!  I'll certainly try that.

That has been our experience too but many very frequent Anthem cruisers said they have always been able to book Coastal Kitchen through the cruise planner.  We will try again next time we sail Anthem.

Yes, I've read that as well.  I'll keep trying, as I still have lots of time.  This is a TA, so I anticipate lots of pinnacles, so I may not make it in.

Anthem has had the ability to book Coastal Kitchen through the cruise planner on some sailings too.

This is the first time I've ever seen CK in the cruise planner for reservations.  I'm in an L2 for the 9/29 sailing (91 days out).  I thought, YAY... no need to make a bee-line to CK any longer to reserve the days I want to eat there.  Clicking through the usual "Add to Cart", selecting guests (me), and then clicking next to select date and time just pops up a "Selection Not Available" error message.

I'll give it a shot again closer in to my sail date.

We are in a JS in April on Anthem.  Coastal Kitchen has been in our planner for quite a while, but I also get the "selection not available" message when I try to book it.

I bought it st this price and it is already showing cancel in little red letters next to it. 🙁

The red word “cancel” is what you would click to cancel your purchase. It doesn’t mean it’s been canceled. If you click the blue “view order details,” you will see what was purchased and the price paid.

How long do they take to press only. Also, although we're Diamond we are also in a Sky Class suite. Does that make a difference in price as well? On Holland America press only was free for suite guests and took a day to get things back.

Pressing for first formal night is free if you are in a suite.  My husband sent out his tux and shirt, and I sent out a blouse.

I get the Conundrum every now and then, but only as a solo. Laura's preferences over ride mine. 😉

As a result of reading this thread (and mostly the wine thread that was closed), I just bought my first bottle of white Conundrum. My local liquor store doesn’t carry the red but offered to order it for me.

KelJ, Anthem has been having problems with the NorthStar.  I hope that it is corrected by now.  But if it continues to malfunction, they may just throw up their hands and say, "Oh well, we'll fix it when it's in drydock".  I hope not, for your sake!

Carol, I hope not. The other time we sailed Anthem, bad weather forced our Northstar reservation to be canceled. I am hoping to do it in April, but DH won’t be upset if it’s shut down. He doesn’t do heights well and was, I think, secretly happy that we couldn’t ride it!

You might find that they start on some tasks during the TA, i.e., some venues might not be available.

Sounds like I need to work on my "go with the flow" attitude!  Although not having passengers boarding in Southampton as we are disembarking should have a positive impact on travel in the immediate area.

There are some passengers on this cruise who are still bent out of shape about having Halifax removed.  I'm not happy that it was removed, but at least I've been there once before.

    I have Apr 24, 2020 to May 15, 2020, somewhere in Europe.

I'm on the Anthem TA from April 12th to April 24th.  I wonder if there will be things not addressed leading up to our cruise because they'll just be pushed off until dry dock. But, hey, considering the Oasis incident and subsequent TA cancellation, I'll just be happy to sail!

Disembarking and going through customs was smooth and was much quicker than getting on had been. We were back in our car and on the road by 11:00 a.m., and we arrived back home around 5:30 p.m. It was a fantastic week!

Did you do self-carry when disembarking?  We sailed out of Galveston in January, and it seemed like 80 percent of the passengers were doing self-carry, and it was a long, drawn-out nightmare.
