  1. I'm not running a business here ... just a floating trivia game. (Unlike the one in the Floataway Lounge, this one actually floats from forum to forum.)

And you get no points for not responding in the form of a question! But I appreciate your spirit. :)

    ======

    Scoreboard:

    gnomie1 +200

    ijkh + 200

drib -50 (I'll take the hit for the extra s in the first sentence. Not sure what CBWIR thinks is the other error, but keep in mind that sometimes when I use "description," it's as a column in a database.)

    ======

You missed the two missing s's. Hint. Reflect hard and don't prevent yourself from discerning the answer.

  2. Oh no! A good cruise descriptions is like the plating of a great meal. Removing the plating element, and the server might as well just lob a hunk of meat on the tablecloth. Who wants that!

However, anything that goes out under the company's name should make sense and be spelled correctly because such carelessness reflect poorly on the company.

Note that unlike Regent, Oceania descriptions have a one-to-one relationship to the itinerary. The same sequence of ports in Alaska have the same description. In the new release of itineraries, Regent has three identical itineraries around Polynesia, each has a different description. What would happen if Regent called each of those itineraries Papeete Round Trip?

    ======

Here are some description names from past Regent cruises. You get 20 points for each one where you can identify the embarkation port and debarkation port. And, as always, and for no apparent reason, please respond in the form of a question.

    1. Summer Night, Winter Palace

    2. Lochs & Legends

    3. Artisans and Aristocrats

    4. Scenic Havens

    5. Pearls of Peloponnesia

    6. Autumn Gold

    7. Red Sea Odyssey

    8. Chilean Fjord Escapade

    9. Three Seas Adventure

    10. Eastern Seaboard Sojourn

Note that although Jason O might have an advantage here, there is nothing in the rules that prevent him from playing.

Find the grammatical errors. Two missing an s. 50 points per error. Pot calling the kettle.....

  3. If you are in a concierge or above suite, your Regent transportation is included - both to the hotel from the airport and the hotel to the ship and then back to the airport.

Didn't know that transportation back to the airport is included with concierge booking. Are you sure? Didn't find it on Regent website but may have missed it.

  4. Does anyone know if we can purchase air transfers upon disembarkation from the ship to the airport if we are NOT using Regent’s air package? Specifically, we’re disembarking in Seward after an Alaska voyage (embarking in Vancouver), and flying out of Anchorage. I’m planning to make our own air arrangements, with a combination of miles and purchasing, primarily because I’m doing a complicated routing on the return to avoid a red eye back to the east coast. So, given that it’s a long distance from Seward to Anchorage, I’d prefer to utilize Regent transfers rather than doing the one-way car rental - (bus and train schedules don’t work). I can’t find anything specifically about this on Regent’s website, and can’t talk to my agent for a couple of days, so thought I’d shoot it out there and see if one of the resident Regent experts might know the answer. Thanks in advance!

Shouldn't be a problem so long as your schedule has enough flexibility to match the Regent time frame.

  5. Sorry to have confused you.

Maybe I should have said “...... guidance / rules / policy on not reserving sun loungers ......”

I understood what you were saying. Didn't think it was that complicated. Hope all is well with you.

  6. Howling with laughter.

I never realised you knew my scililian friends so well. What a shame the damm thing ship fixers didn’t use mamas pasta to fix the bellassimo signora and instead just take your magnifico lira and spit on your honour. ( I do actually have connections that are that way inclined) and will be treated like a king any time I visit Cagliari)

So mamma decides she like a Bigga ship. So I open a big jar of dolmio and pour it over the pasta. Soon after, I realise I couldn’t pay for the extra jar of dolmio that I had poured over the pasta. When I realised I couldn’t pay for this extra jar I decided to sell the bowl of pasta. It is a very good bowl of pasta, it is more expensive pasta than any other pasta makers can make. Maybe it’s only pasta but it’s very expensive pasta. My papas dream was to serve the most expensive pasta and serve it in a dozen expensive pasta restaurants. We managed to get away with this for a while until those picky Europeans realised that the very expensive pasta came with no sauce.

Luckily our American friends decided that even though our pasta had no sauce they wanted to buy our pasta anyway. It was not important to them that our pasta tasted of nothing and had no sauce but it was very expensive pasta. So now that I have nothing important to do anymore I will dedicate my time and my billion dollars to finding a more honest dentist.

I'm sure all Italians and Americans appreciate your perspective. For such a friendly forum, surprised no one else has commented.

  7. Rather off topic but did want to say that if you haven't read my other posts on the subject, my last post likely would not make sense. One topic on the luxury boards has been comparing luxury cruise lines and "luxury" portion of a mainstream cruise line. (where there is a bar, restaurant and other amenities that are not available to most guests). In any case, let's not get this thread off topic as it is an interesting subject.

I didn't bring up the free three day cruise on the Bliss. You did.

  8. Good idea. Having sailed on Oceania, I can see some of their customers giving Regent a try. Not sure if NCL passengers would be a good fit - depends upon the person. I will post more when I am on NCL later this week (will post on the luxury board) but from what I've read on the NCL board, they have issues of people taking food and towels into the Observation Lounge and hogging the chairs with their stuff - lying down and taking naps there, etc. And, apparently their Passages equivalent this past week included a reminder about putting feet or themselves on tables. Not sure if these particular individuals would be a good fit for Regent.

Do you really believe this free travel agent, corporate officer, special guest three day cruise will be reflective of the typical NCL cruise?

Why would you post on the "luxury" board when you have repeatedly reminded people that there are only a few luxury lines and NCL is clearly not one of them.

  9. He (me) is here!!!

Actually what I meant was ATN. ATA was a typo.

CruiseCritic site does not allow for editing/correcting after post has been has up for more than a few minutes. (Anyone know why?)

    J

Just to clarify, FlyerTalker was correct on two things --your sex and your typo. Despite what was alleged on another post. Am I correct? Just curious.

  10. Wow, some people really read into things negatively! Why make up stories when you don't know background (and in no way my post would insinuate)? I see that time after time on threads on this board and it is just unnecessary!

To those who defended me, thank you.

I clearly stated that my son most likely will spend most of the time with us! Yes, this is a luxury cruise. It is great that the cruiseline offers kids programs during the cruise, but it absolutely does not replace family time! I also am well aware that most likely the kids are in make-shift kids rooms. The kids program was not the selling point of the ship. Like the OP, I like to plan things out and it was great to see what kind of itinerary is there. Also, please don't feel the need to shame those who take advantage of the kids club. It is there for a reason and some kids really enjoy it!

Another note, that "Somewhere" I was talking about was in the kids club. I don't plan on letting him roam the ship. Regardless of what he chooses to do, we are going on this cruise as a family and have amazing excursions on this port-heavy cruise. I have never heard of leaving a kid on a boat while you left the ship - would never think of that!

Regarding communication, we will be traveling in a party of 7 family members. I was just asking for how large parties keep in contact as well.

Let's turn this kid conversation around. Going forward, if you see a post regarding kids (and there will be posts), look at it in a different light. Look at kids being on this ship with their family, including Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles. I think everyone who has researched this line is very clear that there are other lines that have amazing activities for kids where you can sign the kids in for the whole day. We are looking forward to enjoying a luxury cruise with family. My son is well traveled and appreciates the great experiences we will have!

Now let's all play nice, okay? We are all planning amazing trips!

Thank you for clarifying what was obvious to most. Have a great cruise.(y)

  11. Thanks for posting the schedules! We'll be on the late July Alaskan cruise with my 12 yr old. So, do they blend all of the 5-12 yr olds in the same activities? I'm hoping my son will be comfortable "hanging out" at some of these activities, but I can see him spending more time with us (which we are totally ok with too).

Kind of an off, but not off question. Is there a way to communicate with people on the ship. Maybe an app through wifi (say if I leave him somewhere and want to check in). Is there any use in bringing walkie-talkies? We're used to bigger ships, so not sure how much a need this will be.

Looking forward to following the summer Alaskan itineraries!

It clearly says communicating with "people ON the ship"

  12. The clearly wanted to know if they could contact her child when they was not on the ship. There are no children programs when the ship is in port.

Are you just trying to create an argument on this thread? Sorry but I won't argue about what "any rational person" would do.

"When they was not on the ship" ?

  13. To be honest (and not trying to be mean), even if Regent did have a program on port days, it is concerning that parents would want to leave a 12 year old on the ship while they go off and see amazing things (things that children would appreciate so much). If parents do not want to spend time with their children, perhaps they should have left them with a grandparent or someone that cares about them. I was upset when the poster mentioned leaving their 12 year old "somewhere" and being able to contact them with walkie-talkies.

Not trying to be mean but you certainly accomplished it. Any rational person would realize that they were saying they wanted to be able to contact the child when he or she was participating in ship supervised activities.
