  1. If I understand correctly, it seems that in a recent refit they did install a Butcher's Cut on Splendida. What is certain is that the website description of the ship fails to mention that. Also, the last time I was able to access our booking on Splendida for January 2019, there were no dining packages being offered. Who knows what the current situation is as my booking record has once again replaced my future cruise with our previous one! Will they ever get this website working correctly?

Meanwhile, does anyone have the current menu for Butcher's Cut on Splendida please?

    *** UPDATE ***

Well finally I managed to speak to someone who knew what the problem was.

It is all to do with the IP address.

Since MSC changed all the log in credentials a few weeks ago, this has caused an issue with certain countries' IP addresses not being accepted by sites "outside" their IP address.

So as my booking was made in the USA and I am in the UK, that is the reason why I can't access my booking.

And to think all the bloody time I have wasted logging in, logging out, changing passwords, numerous phone calls to the UK MSC and USA MSC offices.

I still cannot get in, obviously, as I am in the UK but nice lady as MSC USA is sending me over all the excursions releevant to my exact sailing and she will add them on for me.

So its all about the country IP address.

    GOOD LUCK PEOPLE x

Have you considered using a VPN to mask your IP address and kid the website that you are connecting to, that you are in a different location? I have found that a good, free VPN is Tunnel Bear. When you open the Bear, just select the US as your destination. Then go to the MSC US website and it will believe that you are in the States.

    Good luck.

  3. That's interesting from Carolina Girl. When I tried to login when this data breach was first reported I was directed to AzureB2C. Now I'm also getting Microsoftonline.

Am I the only one who thinks it is high time that we heard from MSC regarding this?

  4. I wonder if this security breach is larger than they are admitting or we believe.

If this is simply a case of a few tickets being emailed to the wrong people, why are so many of us being told to change our passwords?

We had a booking last February and have another next January, so nothing to do with August /September this year.

I've changed my password and now the only booking showing up is for the cruise that we took 8 months ago! Our cruise for 2019 has disappeared.

  5. geez ! what port was that in ?

Don't know about lazyart but in our case it was Miami. Following advice on here about the extortionate salaries these guys are on, we did not tip this year. One of our bags turned up OK. The other was in the baggage room minus the tag and damaged beyond repair. Coincidence? Who knows.

  6. The first time I went to England I tipped 20% in all of the restaurants and later realized this was probably a huge waste of money; am I correct?

In a word, yes. Many restaurants now include a service charge in your bill anyway. If they haven't deserved it, I will refuse to pay.

In mainland Europe it is also not usual to tip. In a taxi or restaurant I will sometimes round up the bill to the nearest pound or euro, whatever but it is not expected.

  7. Best of luck! Come back and let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the email address Bea. I emailed them this morning and Stuart replied in less than five hours. As if that was not amazing enough, he has gone above and beyond my expectations as far as resolving my issue is concerned.

Poor man as his name is now firmly displayed in my contacts list ready for next time.

    Thanks again. :D

  8. Couldn't agree more, it took 2 weeks and many emails, including one to the CEO plus starting action on Revolver before I received any action - and we are black members with double figures of Msc Cruises !

I've not heard of Revolver so will check that out thanks.

@Beamafar Thanks Bea. That was not the email address that I had, but will give yours a try. Thanks again.

  9. I think MSC has recognized they had some issues with their phone and web site. I think they have and are addressing these and things overall seem to be a bit smoother than they used to be.

It's certainly not the case in the UK. I have emailed three times now and all I get is the automated acknowledgement with a promise to reply in 48 hours. This all started three weeks ago! Useless doesn't begin to describe them.

  10. Thanks, everyone for your helpful advice. If those apes can smell fear, then they will be all over the bus if I chose to stay in it!!:o I will research Gibraltar more thoroughly and decide what to do. One place I'm interested in seeing are St. Michael's Caves. I assume they can't get into the caves.....or can they?? Thanks!

No, you're quite safe down there and they are well worth the visit. Enjoy!

  11. I thought the purpose of those straps were to keep the bag together just in the chance that the bag comes open. Does not seem to do any service if you take them off when you get to the airport checkin.

I guess I just like to have things matching.

And this was not a small crack - 25 inches long is a large crack. And having the wheel cracked on three sides of it, is a big deal to me. Useless bag now.

My husband was just wrapping some wood together with a roll of 5 inch plastic. Wonder if you could do it yourself with that.???

    thanks for the suggestions.

I always pack a roll of clingfilm (Saran wrap) in my case and use it to wrap my bag before the return flight.

  12. I cruised many times ,different lines , and walked off with my bags at whatever time i choose sometimes early or last according to my schedule not theirs .As long as you can handle your own baggage dont put it out and disembark when it suits you

But I wonder if you have ever cruised with a line that says it does not allow self - disembark? Apart from this one agent at Pullmantur saying they do not allow it, have you heard of a line with that policy?

  13. Buried in another thread, we have been discussing self - disembarkation from Pulmantur. To get a definitive answer I called Customer Service who stated that they do not operate a process of self-disembarkation and that cases have to be tagged and left outside the stateroom door the previous night.

This seems a little crazy to me and unenforceable. What if you turn up at the gangway with cases in hand. Do they refuse to let you disembark?

Have you ever self-disembarked from Pullmantur and was the process the same as with other cruise lines?

  14. Thinking about it overnight, I came to a similar conclusion, but with a slightly happier ending.

You turn up at the gangway suitcases in hand and they ban you from landing, forcing you to stay onboard for the rest of your days. I could manage that if they are touring the bill

    It doesn't make much sense.

  15. Thanks so much for your reply and help!

I figured safety regulations are the same, but they question came up in discussing this trip with our friends.

We have not taken ship shore excursions in years. We do a lot of photography, so a Spanish only tour is fine since we busy taking photos rather than listening to the tour leader ;-)

The excursions seem reasonable in price, but it's more about doing what we want...when we want, that makes private or DIY excursions more enjoyable for us. It's can also be more affordable since we have another couple to split the costs.

Yes, I'm curious to hear about the debarkation process if anyone can answer that question?

    :-)

Hi Ilarsen. I've had a word with my contact at Pullmantur and she says that there is no self - disembarkation. You will need to leave your luggage outside the door on the previous evening and collect it from the dockside. Not what you wanted to hear I'm sure
