We had friends that were snow birds in Yuma Arizona. They and many other folks crossed the border regularly for prescription drugs, eye glasses and dental work. Most of the pharmacists, optometrists and dentists were educated in the USA.

I like Kipling bags. I have a small one for everyday use and a larger one for travel since I have to also take my camera, packets of sunscreen and bug repellent, and various extra stuff.

For those folks that enjoy walking, I recommend a Fitbit or one of its competitors. It's fun to see how far and the number of steps you've walked

Not windstar but we met a young man of about the same age on HAL who had crossed the Atlantic several times in a 4 person sailboat and loved it. So I think it depends on the child.

I would suggest you google Park West Art Auctions and read the mostly unfavorable reviews. Unless you see something you just love, I wouldn't buy it.

Go to the Dollar store and browse around. I'm sure you'll see a bunch of fun but useless items - lol

When we do a transatlantic, we like to stay a longer time after the cruise and maybe visit a couple of cities. If we do the arrangements ourselves we have more flexibility and it's cheaper.

I think I read somewhere that September and October are the months with the best air quality. I would certainly research that before I planned a trip to Asia.

We enjoy bringing a Fitbit so we can see how much we walked each day. Certainly not an essential item but we enjoy keeping track of our steps and miles walked.

We always bring prescription anti puke and anti diarrhea meds in case we eat something on or off the ship that does not agree with us.
This is especially useful when traveling in third world country areas. We do this on both cruise and land trips and there have been several occasions I have woken up feeling really awful in the middle of the night. Worth their weight in gold especially if you have a sensitive stomach.
DH, the lucky sucker, has never had to use them.

We make shutterfly albums of our trips. Lots of fun to go through them and reminisce.

My fave was the mom who sat her kid up on the counter by the soda machines. The kid proceeded to put his head under one of the spouts press the handle, and drink directly out of the machine. Ewwww. I told the mom that it was disgusting. She glared at me but did remove her son. In hindsight, I probably should have said something to a crew member but I was in utter shock and disbelief!

If we don't have enough, we just ask our room steward for more.

I definitely agree with JohninDC. But before you go read up on Fort Lauderdale and pick out some sights you might enjoy. And if you have a smartphone you have a gps that will give you turn by turn directions.

We've never been double charged by a cruise line but every time we add out of the country phone service and data to our Verizon plan, we get double charged. It usually takes several phone calls to resolve the issue.
However, we are pleased overall with the other services that Verizon offers so we just deal with it. We are traveling again in a couple of weeks and we already have bets going whether or not it will happen again - lol!

We once got on an airline flight, were upgraded to first class and during the flight a birthday cake was brought out and the flight attendants sang happy birthday to DH. We figured it was a friend or family member who arranged this but they never identified themselves and 40 years later we still don't know who arranged the lovely surprise!
Maybe a friend or family member upgraded you?

When we approached the chairlift I realized that my feet would dangle. Oops. I was wearing flip flops. So I took them off and rode up and back barefoot. I saw several flip flops on the ground under the chairlift as I rode up. If I were to ride the chairlift again I would not wear flip flops or backless sandals!!!

the only time we got our room steward a gift was when we were chatting and he mentioned that he was looking for a certain type of doll for his daughter. while we were browsing the market in one port we actually saw what he was looking for so we bought it and gave it to the guy. he was quite pleased.

sorry for all the hassles.
i have no experience with ncl but i have had some success with other companies by calling back and speaking to a different person (at least twice with united airlines).
so my generic suggestion would be to call ncl back, and if the person on the phone can't or won't help you, ask again for a supervisor. good luck!
This is not a joke!

I didn't read it but maybe the person was being sarcastic or wanted to use a title that would catch people's eye??
