I'm sure we have stories about these events.....wow. Like the casket didn't sink once. They took the family to the wardroom for a nice lunch, assuring them it was going down peacefully....meanwhile, a guy we called "Shell shock" made sure the casket sank!
Only did casketed remains once. Had numerous holes cut into the casket and a huge steel plate banded to the bottom to ensure it sank. But cremains???? Blew back onto us every.single.time....

He’s very serious. There are regulations regarding burial at sea and failure to abide by them can incur fines or worse. Never ever try and ‘discreetly ‘ scatter ashes without first getting approval from the line.
Especially loose ashes which inevitably blow back onto you and your surroundings

Navy vet mysel:*, So I've participated in numerous burial at sea details. Yes, ashes do get blown back on you.;p;p

Guys,
DW and I are going on 2nd cruise in Dec. on BOTS. I know the rules against throwing streamers and such from the ship. Was wondering about possibly dropping a small amount of Mom's ashes from the stern at sea. Dad was a navy vet and his ashes scattered at sea from a navy ship. Thought a scattering of hers might be nice.

Not a restaurant, but I'd love to see a micro brewery...

Wife and I took first cruise on Empress in December. My time dining. Your card will show which deck. No wait experienced the one night we ate in MDR. Enjoy!

Which December sailing? DW and I are going on the 15th. Started a roll call for it, but so far it's lonely!

Thanks for the fix Bob. Molly, yeah, that was kinda my impression. Which brings up another question. If I decide to book my next cruise onboard, are the selections similarly restricted?? Obviously beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but it seemed like the third party cabins available were much better locations.

Stateroom....stupid autocorrect

I noticed something about the statereroom selection options when I booked my next cruise. Going directly through the RCI website, I had far fewer options than when I eventually booked through a travel site. Also, it appears there is no cost benefit to book direct through the line. As far as TA's, what would be the advantage of using them? Just getting started with cruises, would like to do two a year if I can swing it. Thanks

Too bad. Not a biggie though. I'll just improvise I guess. Either buy some canned drinks or fill my cup before I turn in....

"Manage your expectations".... Yep. After 20 yrs cruising on grey hulls, my thus far only cruise blew me away. Food, service, scenery, all top notch. Room was a bit warm at first, made a stop at first relations, johnny on the spot they fix the A/C. Some folks just like to fuss. Others, maybe are used to "How it used to be", me? I'm just in the moment!

Just recently booked on Brilliance for the Dec 15 sailing from Tampa with Grand Cayman/Cozumel port visits. Based on my cruise on Empress, Im pretty sure I'll get the drink package. On Empress, with the drink package, customers were also given a coke cup for soft drinks. Same on Brilliance? Does Brilliance have a freestyle machine? I would like to be able to just go get a drink from the dispenser if I get thirsty late in the evening rather than get fully dressed and trudge to a venue for it.

Canaveral has deep sea charter fishing not far from the cruise port. Going during the week in a party boat is relatively inexpensive and generally not crowded. They provide everything and a free lunch. Somewhere around $50 p.p.

Just got off the phone with customer service. Zero problems changing cabin, and was able to change perk from tips to OBC. Very helpful and friendly C.S.R.!

Booked my Dec cruise on Infinity under a promotion. Looking at pics of the ship, saw the cabin I selected, CC class, sky deck, the balcony is directly under one of the projections giving me almost zero overhead visibility. Went to the website to try to move the room assigned. Same exact class, two rooms forward in the gap between projections, 200 required to "upgrade"... What gives? Would it be worth it to request the cabin change with customer service???

THAT is my idea of key lime pie. Looks just like when I make it at home. I know purists will say it should have whipped cream instead of meringue, but I LOVE meringue.
Where is Blue Heaven? Or rather, how do I get there from the port?
Actually, a true KLP purist insists on a baked custard style with meringue. As a salt water conch, I never had no bake cheesecake style with whipped cream until I grew up and moved away.

Grew up there. La Dichosa is a great bakery. I haven't lived there in decades, but my friends that still live there recommend Blue Heaven if you're just looking for a piece of authentic Key Lime pie.

Gonna hit up customer service tomorrow to see about changing perks. Makes sense! Thanks all.

Cruised on Empress this past December, found a new favorite! The Miami Vice! Half Pina Colada, half strawberry daiquiri layered in a glass. Wife also loved the blue margaritas.

Hey All!
Introduction and questions.
Wife Alliecat and I took first cruise in December. My first cruise that wasnt grey and have big numbers on the side:D...RCCL Empress for four nights. We are now officially addicted!
Booked next cruise on Celebrity Infinity for the December 17 sailing. Wish I could go sooner, but alas, no paid time off available until then..
Heard Infinity had to cancel some cruises due to repair issues. Are they still projected to be ready by December?
I booked a CC balcony. Ive read about some of the perks, I get a mixed read about wether CC is worth the extra. Pro and Con?
Selected two perks; Drinks and gratuities. I'm almost certain the gratuities hust cover the automatic tips and that room service gratuities and such will be over and above that. What about the drink package? What level is it? Should I upgrade ?
Infinity specific tips?
Thanks in advance
Cozumel. Ferry travel dangerous?
in Royal Caribbean International
Posted
Saw on another cruise board that Royal and another line are suspending excursions in Coz that require travel via ferry due to security concerns. DW and I are traveling on Brilliance in Dec to Coz and Grand Caymon. Im thinking by then it should be ironed out, but curious as to which excursions are affected?
