I cruised the PANORAMA a couple of weeks before shutdown, had another cruise in October cancelled on her, took the refund forfeiting the $600 OBC and then recently booked the PANORAMA for Nov2021. I frequently take my ex wife with me on cruises, but my ex has said she's not going to get vaccinated (thinks there is some plot to alter our DNA, which the vaccine does, incidentally). I point out the Saulk, measles, Rubella vaccines, but seemingly no avail. It's idiotic, IMHO, I'm 81 and she's 70, but won't budge. My question is, will Carnival allow me to cancel her because she doesn't want to take the vaccine without penalizing me ?

I wish people would stop spreading the false information that this vaccine alters our DNA. It does not!

This type of information keeps some people from getting the vaccination and may cost lives.

From what I understand (not much) the decline in antibodies doesn't necessarily imply a decline in immunity:

By measuring antibody titres, these studies do not capture the matter of immunological memory at both a B cell and T cell level. The adaptive immune system works by building a memory that determines how rapidly your body can respond to an invading pathogen upon second exposure. So while antibodies do wane over time, which is not unexpected, this memory aspect of the immune response does not.

    https://www.biospace.com/article/do-waning-covid-19-antibodies-mean-loss-of-immunity-/

I had it in April and got a positive test for antibodies in May. I tried to give plasma, but my iron was too low. Tried again in July and they said that my antibody count was too low, not that I didn't have any antibodies. My brother was a cellular biology professor and he told me that I probably still had T cells that would protect me.

If you keep up with it, you will find that very very few contract it a second time.

Since your B2B is against the rules until November 1, 2021 with the CDC, how can Carnival possibly charge you a cancellation fee if you comply with the CDC and cancel the first leg?

So, we have a 15 day cruise leaving 04/05/21 with final payment due 01/05.  You're saying we won't lose the deposit if we cancel before final payment? Just quote the CDC rule to Carnival?

  5. If Carnival says it is cancelling all cruises over 7 days from American ports until next November, why haven't they notified me that my 15 day April Hawaii cruise out of San Diego is canceled?

I am going on the premise that it will definitely be canceled, but it continues showing my countdown to my my cruise and payment due date.

I had this argument on another board than cc. 90% told newbie cruiser to prepay tips. No one else agreed with me, might have been a rcl board though.

My argument is why give the cruiselines a interest free loan because you cant manage money or afraid of  big bill at the end. I get stockholders credit at the very least  though I do a lot of shopping. Sometimes shopping in ports or private excursions. As a solo my tips are covered by my obc.

I always make sure I leave owing money so I feel I'm wanted back by carnival or whomever.

I spend 1k to 2k as a solo, so it's not like I'm not spending, I just feel I like to leave with a amt charged to my credit card. I lost that argument. No one saw it my way. I think was bad advice to a new cruiser to prepay tips. Unless you are so broke you live paycheck to paycheck how is getting a bill on your credit card such a big surprise.

And I'm not just talking about this time where you have so much obc. I honestly cant understand preparing tips unless you cant manage money. Makes no sense to me. But then i dont budget my spending at home either. I watch sales and buy smart, but I never have budgeted. I manage my spending. Managing your money is different than budgeting.

I prepay gratuities every cruise and I don't live paycheck to paycheck. I also manage money very well. I just like to get it out of the way. And, who cares about giving it to them interest free? If I received a ridiculously high interest rate of 10% on my cash, the interest for the 3 months they have the money is, based on $200 tips, about $3. And way less than 2% interest is about the norm. 2% would be $4 a year, or less than a dollar for the three months. So what if 5000 passengers do it and the cruise line gets $5000 in interest. It still makes no difference to me.

  7. We are somewhat optimistic about the future and have booked an Alaskan cruise in September out of Seattle. IF we are able to sail, do you think we could make a 10:15 flight out of SEA-TAC AP if the ship docks at 7? I know we would probably have to carry our luggage off early. We can change to 12:15, but for hundreds more. I guess others are also optimistic as the flights are filling up fast.

Just returned from our cruise on the Glory and wanted to get a quick review started. 1st off traveling with my wife and 18 year old Stepson for a graduation present for him.

    Pre-Cruise

So we left Saturday morning around 9am for our 5.5 hour drive to new orleans. Traffic was easy and arrived at our hotel away from the Quarter around 4pm. We stayed at Boomtown Casino and left our vehicle there the duration of the cruise.

    Embarkation

We ordered an Uber from the Casino to the pier at approximatly 9:30am and arrived at the terminal at 10:05am. As we were staying in a suite we had priorty and dropped ur bags off and was brought right into the terminal. No lines, seperated screening areas and honestly was a breaze. I travel with a passport, wife and son with birth certificates, and still no issues. Next was brought to the Captains lounge where i fixed a cup of coffea and before i took my forst sip was being escorted onto the ship. Honestly the fastest embarkation i have ever experianced. We were onboard with a drink in hand by 10:30.  Rooms were not ready until 1:30 so we walked around for a but had Guys burger for lunch then sat in the casino bar until our room was ready.

    Stateroom

So we hade an Ocean suite on deck 7 which was perfect location. 2 decks down to promenade and 2 decks up to pool deck. Room was very spaciouse with an insane amount of closet space. Balcony was long that fit two chairs as well as a sunchair. I will add images shortly. The Cabin was perfect for 3 people and we never felt cramped. 1st time in a suite usually do balconies.

    Ship

So the glory is showing her age on the outside but i will say the inside was fantastic. Everything was clean and nothing looked to old or tattered. The Crew was awsome and i will say that this is my favorite class ship. Big enough to feel like you are on a large ship but didnt feel like i was walking a mile to go anywhere.

    To be continued

How are the crash repairs progressing? We're sailing this Sunday.

  9. Our last cruise (last year), which was our first as Platinum, we each got a pretty nice beach bag with a separate insulated compartment in the bottom. We thought it was pretty nice and still use it. Even the couple we gave the extra one to thought it was a great gift. I guess we'll get the photo next month. No comparison!

I never said it was an inconvenience, it was the only difference with the increased amt. of D&P guests.

We're going on a 14 day Journeys cruise next month. I think it's crazy that we get 10 (5 each) free bags of laundry washed. From what I've heard, you don't send anything but undies. That's a lot of undies! Everything is washed in hot water, so you risk discoloration or shrinkage (yes, George Costanza, things shrink in HOT water, too) of other clothes.

And, I've heard that the P&D's are about 1/3 usually, not 1/2 (I may be wrong). We're going with 2 couples that are not.
