OP, you don't sound pretentious but just wondering what your cabin # is.  Someone seems to think you were upgraded to a Mini suite, is this correct or were upgraded to a PH suite (SF) on the Dawn.

If it's a real suite, you'll get Butler and Concierge. You'll have dining privileges in MOderno/Cagneys and all the other suite priviledges.

Thank you so much, All-ready2cruise.  Yes, we were upgraded to a SF on Deck 9.  I was just curious about what's included because in the past, many people that did an exchange said that many suite perks were not included.  I'm especially interested in the embarking and disembarking and the dining.  Thank you so much for your reply!

  2. Just wondering what's included in the upgrade.  I booked through the big box store and the agent said we would keep the original "pick two" add-ons and would get the butler service.  We are departing from Manhattan next month, (to NE), and I'm wondering if we get suite check-in, concierge, Moderno's lunch, and/or anything else.  Sorry if I sound pretentious, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

  3. I absolutely recommend sailing in the Yacht Club on MSC.  A mile high better and a mile low cheaper (?) than the Haven on NCL.  We’ll probably never do the Haven again.

Our last cruise was on the Star to the Mexican Riviera last December, (in a mini suite), and my favorite food choice was the soup and bread assortment in the buffet.  Cagney’s just plain sucked socks.  Chewy, inedible filet and a bewildered staff.  Le Bistro was a little bit better, just due to our waiter who wrapped up a cheese plate for me to take back to our cabin.  It’s amazing how far the food quality and preparation have fallen on NCL.

  4. Thank you so much, njhorseman.  As usual, you are extremely gracious and helpful.

We we will be arriving at EWR at approx 4pm on a Thurs in May after a 5 hour direct flight from SNA, and have a hotel in midtown Manhattan.  My question, if I may, is how bad is/will be rush hour @ 5pm and how bad would Uber/Lyft spike pricing be?  (We’ve tried the ‘limo’ guys before and didn’t care for them.). Thank you!

I believe he's referring to the Broadway Lounge on the 8th Floor of the Marquis Marriott in Times Square. It's a drink and "snack" option in the middle of the theater district, with a view of Times Square.

Which show are you seeing and which theater? Apologies if you've said, I just don't remember!

Sorry, off topic, but just wanted to tell you I LOVE your signature photo.  DH and I are huge fans.  😎😎

  6. There is an outdoor shower on the path from the beach up to the restrooms where you can rinse the nitty-gritty off, then go to the restroom up the stone staircase, peel off your wet swimsuit, and try to dry off and put on dry clothes.  (And try not to take too long as others will be waiting.)  Do it- you'll have a blast- it's a great excursion!

If you look at how much Bird Travels said they also give to the stewards/bartenders also you are looking at how much some people pay for their cruises.   Ridiculous amounts, if true.

    But hey...it's their money.

Yep... And a write off for travel agents.  😏😏😏

  8. I don’t know about the least favorite, but the ham and cheese sandwiches at the lunchtime buffet are stupendous!

Wow, a "stupendous" ham and cheese sandwich? What was so special about it, if I may ask?

I agree with the opinions re: the powdered eggs...yuck!

I think all of the desserts in the buffet are my least favorite things, after the eggs. They look gorgeous and yet there's no flavor whatsoever.
