  1. The worst experience on a cruise was on my most recent cruise. Cabin 8416, right underneath the Lido deck. At night, or frankly throughout the day, there was a large door over the cabin, which when sliding created this "bowling-ball" type sound that was very rattling, and woke my family out of their sleep on numerous occasions.

We are just starting to look at what our next cruise will be, and looking for May-July 2021. There are 2 that particularly interest me, so I'm wondering what your thoughts are between them.

Option 1- Panama cruise, leaves May 2 from Port Canaveral on Radiance, does Aruba, Curacao, Cartagena, the Canal, Limon, Cozumel, ends at Galveston (we would then fly home to Florida)- 2 cabins, prices range from 5130 for 2 of the 4k, to 6410 in 2 balconies.

Option 2- San Juan Fascination, leaves 5/30, does St Thomas, St Maarten, St Kitts, St Lucia and Barbados, back to San Juan. Prices are less, 3-5k total, but would be round trip airfare for 4, vs the 1 way flight, plus would likely add a couple ground days in San Juan on the front or back, so that would make costs roughly equal.

This would be first cruise for my girls, who would be 23 and 20 for the Panama, youngest turns 21 on 5/30 of that year. Second cruise for hubby and I, we did Eastern 7 day on Breeze this past year, so only ports anyone has seen on either are St Thomas and San Juan.

I would chose the Panama cruise. Not only is the ship newer, and refurbed, but you would be going to the ABCs, South America AND transiting the Panama Canal, all for around the price of a 7-day Southern Caribbean cruise. Seems like a no-brainer to me!

If you look on the Carnival web site, you should also notice the prices dropping pretty significantly when the schools start.

Keep in mind, though, that Panorama is very much aimed for families with kids. If you want a hassle-free cruise vacation, that is.

I do notice that. Between the August 8th and the August 15th sailing, there is a $200 price differential between balconies.

Well, if it is an option, I would wait to go after November. Much better weather, and less chance of having your cruise ruined by a Pacific hurricane. August would be a good time to go to Alaska out of Seattle or Vancouver.

I appreciate your expertise. Here is the problem: Vacation days are limited, so June-August is the best time for us. Thanksgiving days would work too, but those are far more expensive than August. Also, we would like to Celebrate a birthday onboard, so August is only month we could do so. Carnival doesn't have any ships comparable to the Panorama sailing to Alaska, and Royal and NCL are far too expensive for a 7-day cruise. If were were to cruise Royal or NCL, it would be out of NYC or Florida.

Where are you cruising to in August out of LA? Beastly hot on the Mexican Riviera at that time, and it is also the peak of the Pacific hurricane season.

Mexican Riviera. I really want to go on the Panorama as I've been on the Horizon, and to date, is my favorite ship.

ok.... I was discussing this in another thread (somewhere) and I want to verify that I can do this without issue... I want to pay our gratuities once we get onboard, using a few gift cards that I have....this is ok,correct? what do I need to do?-thanks

Yes. All you have to do is apply the gift cards to your sail & sign (I believe by going down to Guest Services) and your gratuities will applied to your account, and covered by the gift cards.

We are sailing Oasis of the Seas out of Cape Liberty on August 1, 2020.  Ports of call include Port Canaveral, Miami, Perfect Day at Coco Cay, and Nassau.  This is an 8 day cruise - all others out of Bayonne all summer seem to be only 7 days and NOT including a stop at Miami.  Does anyone know why this week is different and including Miami?  Is anything going on special in Miami?  It just seems odd, but we selected this date to have one extra day on the Oasis.

It's because the Celebrity Summit will be repositioning to Boston after two TA cruises (one leaving from Cape Liberty on Sunday August 2nd) and not returning to Cape Liberty. Oasis will then switch over to a Sunday-Sunday schedule, as stated in post #2.
