Hello!
I live near Prince Rupert....
It is quite a small town, but right where the ship docks is called Cow Bay and has some lovely shops. There are also amazing seafood restaurants (Dolly's is our fave) and a new brewery that's just opened. There is a canning museum in Port Edward that is interesting and tells a lot about the history of the area. You can do whale watching and bear watching excursions. If you like hiking, there are some beautiful trails in the area, two are Butze falls/ Butze rapids if you like waterfalls. Of you are able to hire a car, 2 hours drive from Rupert up the Nass Valley are some tourist stops- The Peeing Tree (haha) Lava Lake, Nass Hot Springs, Nass Valley Lava Beds, and Rosswood General Store. Lots of hiking in that area as well. Hope that helps a bit???
Cheers

Thanks for your answers everyone!

Sorry I should have been more specific, I used to be able to get on Carnival ships in Vancouver and sail to Alaska and Hawaii, but that's stopped since covid. Is that no longer going to happen?
-
Hi everyone,
Sorry if this question has been asked before and I missed it...
Is Carnival planning on using Canada as a port again or not? And if no, does anyone know the reason?
Thanks!

Hi, we were on a b2b on radiance in June and they had regular hours in the solarium morning and afternoon for kids to use the pool in the solarium, they were not allowed to use the hot tub,
That's really helpful, thank you!

Which ship? Ovation and Quantum have indoor pools that is not the Solarium.
Brilliance

Hello all!
We are headed to Alaska end of May with our kids, and I know the Solarium opens for kids during some Alaska cruises, would anyone know if end of May would have this? Otherwise do we brave the outdoor pool? 😄

Cruise is May 21, kids are 6,7,9
Thinking i will send them off this week

I'd get their passports done - I recently landed an appointment at Surrey passport office and was in and out in 40 minutes for the drop off. Pickup took 90 minutes - but if you're far enough out you can get them mailed to you.
I think I will get them just to be sure! I wish I lived in the lower mainland again, I'm more North and will need to send away, so hoping it doesn't take too long

Royal can set higher restrictions than what the government mandates.
Ah! That's probably why it's been so confusing. Thanks!

Passports..
Only US citizens on a closed loop cruise can sail with birth certificates
You have done this with your children? For some reason the U.S. government website says Canadian citizens 15 and under can enter the U.S. by sea with a birth certificate
-
Hello!
Have any Canadians with children sailed to Alaska? I'm trying to find passport information but have been getting conflicting answers so I'm confused. We are Canadian citizens from Vancouver. We are sailing from Vancouver to Alaska and back to Vancouver. Will my children (7,8,9) need passports or birth certificates? Some RCI agents say passports, some say birth certificates, and the government websites say birth certificates. I am hoping to find a family that has done this trip and get some solid answers! Thanks in advance ☺️
-
Thank you! I also found the information confusing because every government website said only a birth certificate was necessary but the agent I spoke with from Royal Caribbean said they needed a passport so I really wasn't sure!

Hello fellow Canadians!
I just booked a cruise for my family to Alaska and just need to know if my kids will need passports? We live in Vancouver, going on a cruise to Alaska and back to Vancouver. Thanks for your help!

All I gotta say is "ugh".
Personally I would have poked at it a bit more, but hopefully they at least allowed you to get out without losing your deposit.
I tried my best but I think I'm too nice... I will get you to help me next time 😄

Next time try to use a travel agent. Most of them are free of charge and can always help resolve this issue a little easier for you.
Ok! Thanks for the suggestion!

***UPDATE***
I was on the phone with Resolutions for 2 hours. They couldn't find a solution for me that didn't involve paying at least $4000 extra than I had already paid. I said that was a bit unfair seeing as Royal switched ships on us and was supposed to find us a new cabin for the same rate. So in the end I had to cancel and I'm super bummed because it was going to be my kids first cruise 😭 I'm going to keep looking for something that works for us. Thanks so much for your help and support, you are all very sweet!

Thanks for all your help and suggestions!! You guys are the best. I'm going to call and see what I can do. I'm pretty easy going, but I don't think my 5 year old wants to be in steerage alone 😅

Are you sure your five year old didn't call up Royal and arranged his own cabin. Those little guys are wanting to be pretty independent at that age. 😁
Like others have said get on the phone with Royal first thing in the morning. Just be sure to make an extra large pot of coffee (or tea) - you might be on the line for quite a while.
Pssst, some Baileys in your coffee this morning might help too! Good Luck!
Love this suggestion! 😀

Hoping you get a NICE HELPFUL person!!!
What date is the cruise & for how many nights? Have you tried to make a dummy booking to see what cabins are available? Maybe I can look for you.
I did look to see what's open and seems like they do still have connecting rooms left, not sure why they didn't choose to put us in there

Sounds like complete BS they are doing to you!! You better make a call ASAP.....they wont even notice til right b4 the cruise & then will deny you boarding!!!! And they will blame it on you and try to keep your deposits. Happened to me 10 years ago and I "boycotted" RC for years. Princess, Holland, Viking have never done me wrong like that!! What are the ages of the kids?
Its a pain in the butt that's for sure. My kids are 5,6,8. I was hoping to be switched to a spacious Oceanview but that didn't happen, and I'm definitely not paying $7000 more 😅 I will call them tomorrow

Hello everyone!
So... I waited very patiently for Royal to swap my cabin from Enchantment to Brilliance. Originally on Enchantment I booked a spacious interior for my family of 5, however, Brilliance does not have this category. So I waited to see what would happen.
Well... I just got our new room assignment, they put 4 of us in a balcony cabin (nice!) But my 5 year old is on deck 3 by himself. Also, our remaining balance owed is now $7000, instead of the $1000 we actually had left. What....?!
Will the price adjust itself or should I make a call?

Have you tried Villa Maria? Kim Crawford is good, but, I think somewhat overpriced. For my palate, Villa Maria is better and at a slightly better price.
No I haven't tried it, thanks for the suggestion! I will check and see if I can get it in my small town 😄

Check in?

Posted
My RC app has been saying that my check in is April 5 (today) but when I went onto my app, it said check in was closed? So I tried to find check in on the Royal website but can't seem to find it... any tips?
