  1. The facebook post from John Heald about favorite embarkation day drinks was really interesting for me to look over. But--so many were drinks I haven't had or have no clue what they have in them. So, I thought I'd ask here what your favorite "kick-off" drink is and WHY you like it (what's in it, etc etc). I know I could go around looking up drink menus but I thought this would be more fun.

  2. We ordered one of the Rainleaf ones to try at home. I'm not concerned about whether they get "Washed" before we get home. They're only going to be used for beach and excursion towels. Which can shake/dry on the balcony for all I care. Our Carnival blue towel the last cruise hung all over our cabin without being swapped out. I just want to not haul everything and its brother on an excursion.

  3. We last cruised on the Vista in October. We were cruising with family in the next cabin (non-connecting). Our room steward took care of getting the balcony opened for us. It didn't happen the first day but he was happy to do it (and we were happy to tip to get to all be connected out there). It felt HUGE

  4. The problem with the ship's towels is that they are too big and bulky for us to haul four with us. My kids are too little to haul their own so they end up taking up a lot of space in our beach bag or backpack. I've seen people who do the microfiber ones that pack down to nothing....we all have the full face snorkel masks this trip, I'm trying to find ways to port smarter.

We never travel without these: https://www.amazon.com/Rainleaf-Microfiber-Towel-Inches-Green/dp/B01A4ZXX6S/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1548549617&sr=8-3&keywords=microfiber+beach+towel

The Carnival towels are huge and cumbersome, 2 towels take up your whole beach bag. The microfiber dry super fast, especially if you have a balcony.  As you can see they fold up into the size of a big napkin. We use Carnival towels for the ship and microfiber for ports.

That's our big issue too. There just seem to be SO many microfiber towels out there that I wanted to see which ones people LOVED and knew held up.

  6. Questions on Doctor's Cave beach...

    1) How long of a taxi cab ride is it from the Carnival port (and are they easy to find)?

    2) What are the entrance prices, umbrella etc prices?

    3) I know everything is a la carte basically...but does anyone have places they'd recommend to eat or drink at?

  7. Share with me your real experiences with the different wi-fi packages on the ship. I've read all the descriptions and I know IF we purchase, we will choose one of the top 2 packages. But, I'm not sure if the 3x faster aspect is worth the added cough. My husband is up long before us all and loves to grab coffee and hang out on various areas of the ship. He'd like to expand to be able to do more on his phone/tablet during these times especially.

    Thank you! :classic_biggrin:

  8. Thinking about doing USS Kittiwake Sunken Ship and Reef snorkel excursion (thru Carnival) this spring---the reviews are great but they seem to be mixed about whether beginning snorkelers would be okay with it. I understand that the wreck is deep and that my kids (6 & 8--who have done a little snorkeling in Mexico) won't be able to dive down to it. But--would we/they still enjoy snorkeling around?  I'd appreciate any recommendations or thoughts people have on it.

    Thank you!

  9. We've talked about going to Doctor's Cave beach...just don't like the ala carte aspect of it. But, we're used to to going to all inclusive beach experiences so that may be our own personal hang up.

Here's one we're thinking about...but I don't know how I feel about the second half at Margaritaville with a 6 & 8 year old. Anyone been on it? https://www.carnival.com/shore-excursions/montego-bay-jamaica/catamaran-sail-and-snorkel-423134?b=385762696C4B714F514D4D68385A3446776771376A513D3D

  10. If I could find a phrase or design I loved that felt unique, I would totally go with a place like CafePress. I've used them before for other things. I do have some friends who make shirts as well. For me, it's more about find the right balance of uniqueness....pun....and fun. Not what everyone has or wears.

  11. We’re looking at trying to come up with some fun(ny) shirts for our next cruise that are also kid friendly (or at least a kid version can be come up with). Looking on amazon and Etsy seems to come up with the same old things. I wish I’d taken photos of fantastic, creative punny ones I saw on our last one.

  12. Thoughts on the best excursions (through Carnival or not) in Montego Bay? We'll have a 6 and 8 year old with us. So many seem to have a) far travel  b) bad reviews or  c) not very exciting events. I'd love to hear what excursions you've done and/or would/not recommend!

    Thank you!
