Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Both loving this thread and feeling nervous. I usually plan far ahead, but not this far ahead. DH and I were hoping to do a diy land tour and southbound cruise June/July 2024, but haven't been able to nail down dates yet- eek! If we can nail dates down this weekend I'll enjoy using your insight on this thread and start booking.
  2. Do you know if the conference rooms on Vista class ships were turned into non smoking casinos?
  3. We were fortunate that a stateroom in the same category opened up for less than $200 per person
  4. Thank you for all your previous suggestions and answers! I've read the pertinent posts on the last 5 pages to choose which port would be the best for a beach day for my mom. We going on a family cruise with all 5 of her children, their spouses and most of her grands. We are not all doing the same excursions, but may combine activities at times. She does not use a mobility device, but can't walk long distances without a break. So far I'm considering taking a taxi or maybe a pulmonia to a resort beach in PV or a pulmonia to the ferry to Stone Island in Mazatlan and probably another pulmonia to the beach. Other family members are going to Stone Island, so that is preferred, but I'm not sure of the transportation and walking involved and the availability of beach chairs and umbrellas. Which would you recommend and why? TIA
  5. Thank you all so much for your helpful suggestions! After a couple of calls to Carnival an available state room was found and booked 😃 I agree that both the online agent and ourselves were at fault. I was under so much stress at the time of the booking my DH set it all up to take something off my plate. Somehow his old Hotmail email was used for one of the cabins, maybe from when we booked directly with Carnival 15 years ago? For our cruises the past 15 years we worked with a dear friend and travel agent, but she is no longer in the business. We were frustrated that the online agent did not use the correct phone number to alert us of the balance due. It was on us for not putting the payment deadlines on our calendar and not noticing that the payment was half of what was expected. Lesson definitely learned! We'll work directly with the cruise company or a TA that we can speak to for future cruises.
  6. At check in for our July 15th departure on The Panorama we were informed that our online booking agent used a defunct email address for one of our 2 state rooms, the one for our 2 adult kids. My husband got a reminder email on a functioning email and thought he paid the balance for both of our rooms. The online agent canceled one reservation and is not working with us to reinstate the reservation. The cruise is sold out. It was suggested that we "check back" to see if a cabin becomes available when a passenger uses their travel insurance and cancels their reservation. Is that even a thing? How do you "check back"? This is a large family cruise for my Mom, all of her 5 kids, their spouses and most of the grand kids, so we can't just pick another cruise. Could we just show up with my daughters and hope for a cancellation? Any other ideas or suggestions would be great! TIA
