Can you make private lessons for the Flowrider prior to your cruise? Or do you do it when you get onboard?

Pre-covid I was able to book a full hour which included private instruction if needed.   You could also book into group lessons (which filled up very fast) which is why I ended up just renting the whole darn thing for an hour.  All through cruise planner

  2. She's worn it at school....so she can do it....she doesn't like it.  And it isn't going to go over well when her 14 yr old brother (and his friend that we are taking with us) isn't wearing one 😉

At least she can sit in the room and play the piano to her hearts content if it too much of a big deal for her.  Again.....the biggest problem is the singing she is planning on doing....I'm not going to tell her....hopefully this will all work itself out by August.

Think about this. If you are vaccinated for COVID, your chances of dying from norovirus are greater than your chances of getting COVID, never mind dying from it.

People forget that we now have good treatment options for COVID.

They don't forget, they aren't told by the news sources they use and/or have their eyes and ears closed to prevent covid from entering through those orifices 😉

  4. I am hoping for more cruises with no vaccine requirements and no mask mandates.  Then I can sit around and people watch and see who pays attention and who doesn't based on their facial attire onboard.

We have no mask mandate in MD anymore.....finally was able to go back to the casino when my folks drive up from Florida to celebrate my birthday....was amusing watching 1/4 of the people at the casino walking around with single and double masks and complaining that people were at the slot machine next to them or sitting too close at the table games.....

#3 could split off into a 4th. Sure internet people love to draw their lines in the stand and take their moral stances. If the scenario happens where cruises allow people to sail without vaccinations and virtually nothing happens as a result, I'd like to revisit where those "absolutely not" people stand.

Yeah.....I have no doubt RCCL has taken into account that in my group 3 of loud voices saying "nononononooono we won't go" there will be defectors who decided f-it I'm going anyway 😉  They will either blame RCCL refund policies forcing them to go, work PTO schedules couldn't be changed, the only time the whole family could do it for another 4 yrs, etc......

And now with the Delta variant from India has moved from the UK to the USA and is infecting the younger age ranges.

This is called fun with statistics

ANY variant will infect the younger age ranges as a larger % (the measures they are publicizing) because the older at risk age groups are the most vaccinated, so they are getting infected at a much lower rate.

I pretty much refuse to click links.

Plus for many, adding links to external sites also sometimes triggers auto moderation on your post, so then it never shows up (or at least not until a mod reviews and approves it, which if it does happen, happens so long after the fact that the discussion has moved on and the point being made and supported with facts from places like CDC and WHO raw data pages are lost to time)

I beg to differ. While the poll created on this forum asking "Would You Get a COVID Vaccine in order to Sail"? represents just a small sample it is clear that the majority of cruisers are opting for vaccinations 794 to 220.

    Jonathan

This is the problem with polls and pollsters.  Its all in the phrasing of the question and then interpretation of the result set....often extrapolating into areas beyond the scope of the question asked.  The question has nothing to do with "would you NOT cruise if others on the ship were unvaccinated".

We're sailing out of Bahamas in August, so you know what we have to do to be on that boat.  So my answer to that question was "yes, I would in order to sail" while at the same time, I would sail without it and/or with passengers who don't have it.  Because 1. I have super low risk profile with covid and actually have INCREASED my risk by exposing myself and family to the vaccine and 2. Once I have a vaccine and didn't have a serious medical issue from getting it, my then new risk profile is lower than before and if someone near me on a boat doesn't have the vaccine and somehow also manages to get an infection, the only impact to me is negligible based on the rules/reg in place.

There is far too much emotion tied up in this whole thing thanks to the major overdose of fear mongering we've been subjected to over the course of 17 months.......we can debate the nefarious or virtuous machinations behind it all over beers sometimes, but not here lest another thread go poof.

That is not the impression I'm getting from reading these cruise forums unless I'm misunderstanding what you are saying.

    Small Vocal Minority

There are 3 types of cruisers

    1. Will cruise without a vaccine (because they either had Covid, had medical tings preventing it, have religious objects to the aborted fetal tissue in it, are too young, or generally speaking just don't want it because they evaluated their personal risk profile and there is nothing in it for them.

    2. Will cruise with a vaccine and don't care about anybody else because, well, they have the vaccine.

    3. Will cruise, but only if everyone on the boat has it too and will NOT get on a boat otherwise

If you think group 3 is larger than group 1 and 2.....I have a nice bridge for sale that you may be interested in 😉

In case you didn't see this, per CC News at 11:45am today:

"Carnival Clarifies Vaccination Requirements for Galveston Cruises, Allows Small Number of Unvaccinated Children"

    <and>

"The news is a reversal of an announcement Monday when the line indicated its cruises would sail with fully vaccinated passengers only."

    https://www.cruisecritic.com/news/6178/

    Quick...let's all act surprised ;).

    Again....I kid....I kid.

However.....to be blunt.  The market of people WITH a vaccine who are willing to cruise with unvaccinated passengers is significantly larger than the market of people with a vaccine only willing to cruise if everyone is vaccinated 😉 😉 😉

CHILDREN have died and are still dying from COVID-19...where have you been hiding. Heaven forbid it should ever be a child in your family and I bet you would sing a different song....so sad to have read your comment.

Yup..... 314 of them.  Less than half the amount that died from flu

    https://data.cdc.gov/NCHS/Provisional-COVID-19-Deaths-by-Sex-and-Age/9bhg-hcku

Also Less than half the amount that die from Drowning

    https://www.safekids.org/press-release/almost-800-kids-drown-each-year-more-half-are-under-age-5

Death has always been a part of our lives.  But in the last 14 months we seem to have all forgotten how to properly assess risk profiles.

I'm sure we are 1 step closer to locking/deleting now 😉

That may be medical or religious exemptions which would need to be documented.  That is not children. There is no legal obligation to board children not eligible for a vaccine.

Unless they are religious children right?  😉 😉

I kid, I kid.....It's just so easy to poke holes in policies that are so utterly silly as to be nothing more than amusement for me.

Actually......before you can conclude that....I think you need to also see the * call out that would be in the footer somewhere and see what qualifiers they are attaching.

  14. Only caveat is the L&S for these specific types of cruises only allows 1 week flexibility.  So it is a little more stringent then the first program.  I had Serenade out of Vancouver in 2020 first week in August, then shifted it to last week of July into August 2021, and now am back to first week of August 2022......I had really wanted to move it to 2 week of July 2022 but could not.

    54 days out from sailing.

Everything is full price in cruise planner.

    Check-in not available.

Have a secondary date that would work in September but we are getting strung along waiting for a July announcement.

I am sailing out of Nassua in August and in the old world would have been able to check in already as well....but check in is not open yet.  I 'suspect' one of the reasons for later than normal check in process is two fold issue of

    1. Actually needing to figure out a way to have time enforced boarding windows/process and messaging around it

    2. Updates/tweaks/changes to the sailing T&C that we will need to agree to (and the situation is very fluid)

Doesn't excuse the LACK of update/cancellations for US based starts that I think we all feel like are going to happen to July, but could be part of the reason.  As I said before, the lack of certainty is why I moved my Late July Oasis to Early August Adventure.  The ship is cheaper to sail on and the price difference covered airfare and also a small refund over all......and it remains an option for all those on pins and needles for Oasis in July to just lift and shift it now.

I built a covid pool 😉 got through about 85% of the final landscaping last weekend.  I've still got some bare spots that I can't do anything with until after the fence guy does his thing.

Ohh wait....are we supposed to be talking about cruising 😉

RCL should be soon or next. Been seeing carnival posts all day. Carnival site says their cruise is cancelled, emails yet? Not yet.

Carnival has done a press release to restart. Maybe they presume the fl hearing tomorrow will go their way.

This is just more PR campaign to try and get stock price above $30 and pass the buck/point the finger so everyone know who is at fault when it doesn't happen 😉

I never booked a royal suite but had drinks in one, I thought they looked cool.

We never cruised....we never took vacations....then 3 years ago stress levels were just so high.....we booked a last minute cruise on Granduer......and they had the RS available so I just said F it and booked it.  We've been spoiled ever since.....it's become an expensive indulgence  ;).  On the flip side....we had a 'keyboard' for our daughter....but she brought all her books on the cruise and played all her best during the trip.....we came home and bought a baby grand because of it.......and she plays it EVERY day.

You will know if she/we are on the boat with you too......just go to Karaoke she's the one singing everything Queen ;).
