I’m with you, up to a point.
But having very recently had to accept several days without the advertised TV channels (entire ship), a shower that wouldn’t drain, and an unreliable supply of hot water, along with an epilepsy inducing flickering bathroom light, maybe my view’s a bit affected by all that - and this was in a suite.
They do what they can, but sometimes, as here, the problem’s too great for a repair person.
docco why don’t you start a thread up with your complaints and leave this thread for the purpose It was created for.

You'd have been happy with this a couple of weeks ago in a suite, then?
"Five days into this cruise and none of the TV channels are working. They haven't worked since day one, and they're still using the excuse that it's satellite interference.
No hot water last night, bathroom lights flickering and can't be fixed, shower doesn't drain, front of drawer falling off - and this is in a suite costing a fair bit of money."
All of those problems remained throughout the 13 days - apart from the TV, which was working for about half of the time spent on the ship. The CSM was contactable only via the Carnival CEO because the reception people were refusing to allow access to him - saying it 'wasn't the protocol'.
So docco you had the worst holiday you ever experienced and you want to drag this thread down because of the problems you experienced, but like you said your never going to cruise with them again so seek compensation them move on.

Only two positives, I'm afraid (having just returned from 12 nights on Azura):
1 It's probably cheaper than a lot of other better companies.
2 The food's varied and good.
I'm not allowed to mention the many reasons for it's being cheaper in this thread, so I'll leave it at that.
So there was absolutely nothing else good about your 12day cruise which is a pity I am sure we would have liked reading the positives.

The range of drinks packages has now been adopted permanently. The full package is £49.95 per person per day :-0.
This conversation should really be on its own thread

We would never fly without prebooking our seats I have seen too many families split up and the arguments it caused.

A typical personal and rather pointless post, which is in no way useful to other members of the forum, whereas I trust my experiences are helpful to other cruisers.
But to answer your question, yes there is nearly always something to discuss with passenger services during a cruise, generally a minor cabin issue but sometimes these can go unresolved and need escalating.
However as I have also said a P&O cruise is in general a very enjoyable and reasonably priced holiday, and the minor issues with passenger services whilst annoying, do not stop us from enjoying ourselves.
Thank you for the second half of the post which was useful and answered my post now I know why you cruise with p&o,unlike the first half which did not answer my post but was rather condescending but each there own.

That's not my experience I am always polite whenever I need to contact any firm with any problem, whether major or minor, and normally I enjoy a very friendly discussion and nearly always a very successful outcome. The one major and regular exception is the onboard customer service staff at P&O. My approach to them is always polite and friendly, but whenever it involves a difficult to resolve problem their response changes and they become defensive and unwilling even to pass my request higher up their chain of command.
My experiences on RCI, Celebrity and to a lesser extent on Princess have been totally different, keen to help or to pass it up to senior mmanagement if they could not provide the answer themselves, and then lots of follow ups to make sure everything was now satisfactory.
Now if only P&O was like that.
Do you have many complaints with p&o if so why keep going with them when you know you will have unresolved problems, personally I no longer fly with Delta my last reply to them was you keep your flights I will keep my money.

Well I have found their telephone and email ceo service awful.
I feel like they are not bothered about returning customers at all. All they seem to want is to mess you about and more money.
I supose I am jaded though as when I have needed them to be helpful and be understand I have found them to be blaise about everything. Even going through ceo email and they are not bothered.
To be honest if I was you I would steer clear of p&o,your impressions are now so bad if any minor thing goes wrong whilst on holiday it will spoil it for you.

I wonder how many of your wife’s friends have tried any other cruise lines in order to make a comparison? I think P&O rely on customers who don’t want to risk trying other cruise lines. We cruise with P&O because they have the best choice sailing out of Southampton. We also find them pretty good value. However, we have also found the service on Celebrity and RCI to be much better if you do have a problem. I just think P&O need to up their game in this respect.
The reply to you question 2 of them have thirty plus years experience of cruising, the rest it varies they have all tried various cruise lines most chose p&o for price and convenience and they all told my wife to ignore this site because of the general attitude to p&o.

Well done a bit of positivity for a change and my better half told me we are going cruising and with p&o so here I am or will be soon.

Until you experience the "can do" service that the RCI group passenger service teams provide then you don't realise just how inferior P&O are.
The obvious question is why go with them because after reading some of the criticism on here I thought you would steer clear of them,my wife who’s friends at her work swear by p&o most are seasoned cruisers.

Is it just the tv not working now or are the other problems still unresolved
-
The lack of a tv to me would not be the make or break of a holiday, but the lack of hot water would get me annoyed.
i think I read that p&o does not do announcements in the cabin you must have your tv on to get them is that correct.

Sorry docco was replying to another poster L751 like you said yours is a different problem.
-
L751 sorry the original poster did not mention missing ports because of wind is that just p&o or does any other cruise line do that,I have read about the tax thing but I thought a few other lines did the same thing as for the cost again is p&o overly expensive.
the £5000 is a lot but to put it in context I spent twice that for my family to come with us to Florida than to be hit with an hurricane where we was put on lockdown for two days, and we recived no compensation but we lived with it and enjoyed what little of our holiday that was left.

Thanks for the advice Britboys I have read about the possibility of not going ashore,to be honest I go a bit overboard (not literally)about reading up about every aspect including YouTube.

Opps forget Arcadia followed by Explorer 2
-
Our first cruise is a taster to Guernsey for my sixtieth we also booked a cruise with Marella so hoping we enjoy them if not the first will be a birthday to forget.
-
Going on our first cruise soon and it’s with P&O have we made a mistake or is it the case of people want a champagne lifestyle on beer money.
Good points of P&O

I cannot claim to be a fanboy or have any connection with p&o as I have yet to take a cruise, but I have noticed your need to be the centre of attention I have mentioned previously that you should seek compensation from p&o assuming you have a genuine complaint.
I have also mentioned previously that I was told to ignore this site because of people like yourself with an axe to grind against p&o and make my own judgement which we have done,we have now booked a third cruise for next year on Ventura because of the positive comments and watching some videos from obvious happy patrons of p&o.
