  1. We ran up on this offer totally by mistake! Just happened to call our pvp, who was about to call us, & learned we could get a 7 day Western, extended balcony for 2 for $494 including port taxes & fees.....yes for 2...not per person! Also got $100.00 onboard credit!! :D We went ahead & grabbed it! How can we turn down a cruise rate of $120 per person before port fees & taxes?! Averages out to be $17 & some change per person per day! Booked our Tampa hotel last night :D

  2. Just got off of our Fantasy cruise yesterday, & they do offer steakhouse selections for a $20.00 fee. They offer the surf & turf, lobster, a 14oz. steak......prime rib, not the flatiron steak (which I had, & was soooo good!) It's listed on the left side of the dinner menu at the bottom in a square that lists the different things they offer.

  4. Thanks everybody!!..Made it to Charleston safe, beat the holiday traffic!! Shuttle to the port picks us up here at the hotel at 10:45 tomorrow morning. We're in North Charleston, port is about 25 minutes or so away. Already working on my R&R!! :D :D

  5. If you are a Verizon customer just go to MyVerizon and there is a link to redeem your "points". When I joined the VerizonRewards program I immediately had almost 30,000 points. Takes 1,000 points and the cost to redeem. The certificate comes to your inbox almost immediately. I actually paid off a cruise and an excursion (don't usually do a ship one but planned on it for one port) and have more I will put on the S&S account.

These are eCertificates and not the Cruise Cash.

Saving 10% in actual cost plus receiving double points on the Carnival MasterCard made it a no-brainer for me.

How do you get this applied to your S&S account? Not trying to hijack the thread, sorry, just curious.

  6. Ahhh so excited! About a week ago, we got upgraded to a GS (for a smallish fee) and we're not longer wait listed for early dining! It's coming together. We leave tomorrow for the long haul to SC and off we go! :D

When you're getting off after your cruise, we'll be getting on, have an awesome time!!

  7. Depending on the location yes you can get a lot of noise from above. Unfortunately our only experience with a cove was during Hurricane Sandy. They had to close off our balcony and for the rest of the trip we had to listen to the most awful banging that want on 24/7. I know that was an unusual situation but it was enough that we won't be booking another cove balcony.

We can soooo relate Relic!! We had our 1st cove balcony on the Dream, & it was during hurricane Sandy too. They closed it off, & it was the loudest, constant noise!! Reminded me of someone trying to close a door on a rusty, old pickup truck that sticks (noise factor magnified wayy louder)....pop, pop, blam!! It definitely kept us from sleeping!! We had already had trouble sleeping all week because of noise from above all week, & then this was added. We'll never get another cove again either, even though our experience wasn't "the norm", it was enough for us to steer clear.

  8. Can anyone that has been on the Fantasy lately tell me what to expect in the casino as far as what kind of games they have? Do they have any video slot machines? Older games, or a mix of newer & older? What kinds of poker....3 card? Anyone have pics to share? I know it's an older ship, so just wondering if they are trying to keep up with what's current. Any help is much appreciated, we leave week after next!! :D

  9. I personally dont think you will make it. and I cant sit by and let that happen. Since you are not going to make it, please send me the cruise and I will take the unfortunate task of going on the cruise JUST so you will now be able to make it.

with that monkey off your back, you will be able to make it now...

I will be waiting for the details of MY cruise.

I am just looking out for your well being you know.

Let's not do that & say we did! :D :D I'll muddle through & figure it out, but thanks for wanting to take that weight off my shoulders  :D

  10. 34 more days until we cruise, how will I ever make it?! :D It's gonna seem like forever though, especially with these long, hot, humid days!! You would think after 12 cruises, I would be accustomed to the final weeks before seeming like the longest, but...nope!! Sooooo ready for the gentle rocking of the ship, the drink in hand, the slots......& so much more!! Who else can relate?!

  11. Booked again.....this will be our 13th cruise, & I'm not one to look at 13 as an unlucky number!! This will be the 1st cruise we don't have to fly to, we're gonna drive to Charleston the night before. So, who's been on the Fantasy lately, & how is the embarkation/debarkation process? Also, what's the ship like? Smaller & older compared to some of our past ones I know, but what to expect? Any "don't miss" spots? Favorite places? Any insight is appreciated!

  12. Yep, that's the one! :) Hope we get to meet on the ship. I have enjoyed reading your reviews and identify with your enthusiasm for cruising. Please join our roll call thread - it's not real active but there are some things planned you might enjoy joining, and it's interesting to see what everyone has planned for the port days.

Glad you found a hotel, and it doesn't hurt to keep looking.

I would have liked to have found something closer to the port at the price we got for the Plantation property, but after reading here about prices in February, I feel fortunate to find what we did.

Hopefully we will meet, I'll join the roll call.....have been staying away from them because of a bad experience or 2, but will give it a try. Can't wait for this trip, this year was the 1st year since 2006 I did not take a cruise & I am having cruise withdrawal!!

  13. Thanks you guys, think we're gonna stick with our 1st choice, Candlewood Suites. Food places in a little shopping center right across the street, plus we would have spent what little we saved on going to dinner the night before, & getting to the port from Cambria. Would love to be along 17th, but everything is already sold out, or way too high. Appreciate the help!

  14. I thought the very same thing. But than again, it is winter and people like, and need, the warmth. I needed a hotel for one night, Jan 31st. I have booked at Hampton Inn & Suites Ft. Lauderdale-Airport, 2500 Stirling Road | Hollywood | FL | United States 33020

The rate I got is $189, with tax, etc. comes to $209.

Prices there are now $234 & up per night

  15. Bubbles, just wondering if you were able to find something for Feb 7th yet.

A site I find helpful to know what hotels to check out is http://www.parkingstay.com/p/ft-lauderdale.html as it is in chart form so you can see what is and is not included and there is a map so you can see how close the property is to the airport and cruiseport.

We are cruising from Fort Lauderdale on Feb. 8th too. We are on Carnival Freedom. Curious if we will finally be on the same ship at the same time.

(We got a good park and cruise rate at the Residence Inn Plantation for Feb. 7 but we booked it some time ago now.)

I believe we will be on the same ship at the same time. 8 day on Freedom to Antigua & Tortola ........ Have found a hotel ( Candlewood Suites) for $209 for the night, but still looking
