Good luck and do post what transpired

Thank you all for the tips, I should have been more patient here at the computer.  I believe Jeff and WWT's tips would have worked well.  Instead, I turned up the heat on the sauce/meatball burner & started the pasta.  There will be no pics to document the result; the sauce became clots of some sort of cheese, & the meatballs were ok if a bit overcooked.  Wife and I enjoyed the buttered pasta, ate a few meatballs and finished the bottle of wine.  Dog will receive a meatball supplement for a couple of days with her kibble.

    What were your favorite excursions?

For scenery the Flam railway was great.  Geirangerfjord also incredibly beautiful (There are many fantastic views from the ship itself too)

For meeting Norwegians: Can't remember the town, it was just a walk around a smaller town 1/2 day tour with historical information.  I recommend picking one excursion like this.  I learned so much about the country and its people by just walking it with a Norwegian guide.  Love spectacularly scenic excursions, but I also loved this experience.

For tasting Norwegian food including bakery treats:  Bergen

    my upcoming cruise to Norway,

Hoping you enjoy this cruise!  I loved our Norway cruise last year, knockout scenery IMO, the expedition guides were so pleasant and informative (with one so-so exception in Bergen), have regretted not spending an extra day or 2 in Copenhagen.

  4. Well, on one of our cruises on Silversea, the first afternoon in our cabin, the sound from our neighbors TV was excruciatingly loud.  And non-stop.  I still don't know WTH he, she, or they were thinking.  But a call to our butler straightened things out for the rest of our cruise.

I think he or she would have solved your issue - ours did.

nice chicken with a Noily and Dijon mustard buttery sauce

Continuing my education here in the Cooler, I had to look up one of the words Jeff used.

Copying from whatever search engine my PC currently defaults to:

The term "noily" has two meanings:12
    1. It refers to a dry white vermouth drink from France, also known as Noilly Prat.
    2. It can also be an adverb, meaning in a way that makes a lot of noise.

    it's lovely to see change

    Love that outlook

Got a Thursday lunch date with my beautiful wife (MBW?) at the new place a mile away - MBW says the owners are actually from there 🙂 - why not a great Indian cuisine lunch here in Richmond VA USA?

  8. well Dr. Ron, you've brought a song to mind

    Anniversary Song, by Cowboy Junkies

One of the best lines in song lyrics I've ever heard:

"Have you ever seen a sight as beautiful as a face in a crowd of people that lights up just for you?"

    The song video if interested

When you are bored and have a spare few minutes, have a look at the Wiki on the voting system

Well, I had a few minutes this morning and was completely bewildered by the Eurovision voting rules, felt sure it was the previous night's wine fogging up my thought processes, but a 2nd visit to Wiki this evening shed no light whatsoever.  Eurovision's voting system is far worse than our electoral college.

The UK has provided the world with so much great music, and now, this?  Perhaps Eurovision caused the dust up with the European Union?

    lunch was Gala Pie

Had to look this up.  What do they mean by "medieval" recipe?  Is that before Columbus (bC)?

  10. That is really just unacceptable

Supposedly it will be re-provisioned in Vancouver, just in time for all of us to get off.

Why not pursue alternate suppliers in Japan even if costs are very high?

As we said back in the day, "heads are gonna roll over this"

  11. just concluded a Western Med cruise on Silver Dawn and we had a wonderful time!  Silversea Air flights on ITA (had to learn to pronounce this as "eeta") were excellent in BizClass, Bernina hotel in Rome was also very good.  On board, our butler was a pleasure & kept up with everything we requested, enjoyed all meals we took on board, thought the Motown show was fun.  Comments in the various threads here had me nervous.  We booked door to door and were so well taken care 0f - there was even a Silversea rep at the Rome airport to direct us to where to start the boarding process when our driver dropped us off.

In our case, Silversea was just what we needed for a great 1-week getaway.

My Bertie just won't head the warnings!

Love this picture and TTS' pictures.  Can't wait to pick up our pets tomorrow...

Just off the Silver Dawn on a 7 day Mediterranean cruise.  Loved it.  Good food, service and entertainment was really pretty decent.

Got a weak spot for Italian red wine, Italian people, and Italian food. Florence, however, seemed overwhelmed with tourists on our excursion there and I've no interest in returning.

France more complex, The French did not appreciate my grasp of their language, in spite of years of (required) study, not very Nice after all! Sete was good, enjoyed visiting the vineyards there.

ITA is a fine airline; in fact the business class lunch on our return flight was really delicious.

Too tired to add a photo but may do so tomorrow.

No rose, no Macon, no Italian white, no french white, no Cab, no California chard except Neilson, or Chilean Morande, no Pouilly Fume. And no restock

Lois, I almost hesitate to ask, but is Tiki sauvignon blanc available?  (you can accurately say you are asking for a friend)

And Silversea, if you're listening, I've been reading many complaints lately (Kaisecki a wrecki etc), but this may represent a bridge too far.  Please rectify for our beloved Spins.  We will be watching this April on Dawn!
