Well - we got an email yesterday from our agent (Viva Voyage) confirming this cruise on 22nd May is now cancelled.

apparently if we wait a couple of weeks we will get 125% 'future cruise credit'.

We'd like to shift the cruise now to May 2022 but I think on reading things, we have to use the future cruise credit by April 2022.

Looks like its going to be December 2021 or maybe February 2022.

Now to try and shift all the flights and hotels that were associated with our vacation - AGAIN!

Sorry to hear the news. My children and I canceled our Carnival June 5, 2021, birthday celebrate with mom cruise in and rebooked it for July 2022. The DH and I are waiting for MSC FCC credit to rebook our MSC cruise. Sadly this is becoming so common place it does not even bother me any longer. I just know I am going to really whoop it up once we start cruising again. Well, as much as this senior cn whoop it up.🤣

I am honestly concerned about even January 2022 at this point. No movement has happened on even one test cruise yet. I am starting to worry someone wants the US cruise industry dead. That is why I would love to see Carnival take hold of the Cozumel as a home cruise port idea. I think that the CDC would have internal pressure to get on the ball so to speak if it looked like Carnival might seriously take their ball and play elsewhere.

My DD and I give a thumbs up to Cozumel as well. We already decided to spend a few days pre-cruise in an all-exclusive hotel. Go for it Carnival!

  3. We have two cruises booked. One the DS and DD are taking me on a cruise for my birthday and the other my DD and DGD are taking our summer trip. I told them I want to keep the money in. The birthday one my DS will be paying the final payment so it is truly up to him. The other one is my DD and I and I think she like me will decide to just go for it. I have imaged biting down on a Guy's burger too many times! 😉

Just got my 2nd Moderna and it was brutal.  Fever 103, Headache, arm sore, nauseous.  I had zero reaction with 1st dose.  Just a heads up to make sure you have tylenol and ibuprofen ready!

Thanks I do have ibuprofen! One does not know if you will or will not experience any issues after the second vaccine. I heard a few people had a high temperature and one person passed on through our friend that she felt sick for a few days. Fingers crossed I will have slight to no reaction. Thanks for sharing your experience!

that would eliminate the need for basically all the other restrictions, which is nice.

    Sadly but no...https://www.webmd.com/vaccines/covid-19-vaccine/news/20210203/covid-faq-i-got-the-vaccine-is-life-normal-again

BTW I sure hope it is found that the vaccine truly stops the sharing of COVID-19. My fingers are crossed. Vaccine #1 done and the second one coming up!

The gift card is a carnival only gift card.i wish it was a visa.i booked with gift cards I rolled like 3 times since cuba got cancelled.with the new conditions on cruising I  would rather not go .it's really hard to turn a gift card to cash.

After many telephone calls they finally sent our gift cards which I placed on the substitute cruise for the cancellation. For some reason they would not transfer the gift cards to the new rebook. No worries I was able to tell Carnival who I spoke with and the responses until finally they sent them. I will never iuse gift cards again which is why I am hoping to cruise and get them done with.

  7. We rebooked our cruises except the MSC one only because we are waiting for our FCC. My DS and DD booked a birthday cruise for dear old mom which was canceled and we rebooked. I told the DD just yesterday that I would like to rebook if it is canceled. What the hay, wow look at that can fly I just kicked! I wonder if Kansas City or Tampa Bay want to add me to the roster as a kicker for the Super Bowl today?

Like a few others, I am perfectly fine with all of these requirements. I am not surprised by any of them as it's been clear from the Euro cruises that have successfully restarted under these conditions, that we would be doing much the same. I hope these precautions mean that #1 we get to actually take the cruise we have booked in August and #2 we get to actually get on the return flight home afterward. Also, #3 we don't catch Covid or have an outbreak on our (or any) sailing.

I understand people like different things and make different decisions and I get that lots and lots and lots of people don't like this at all. And that those people may not cruise because of this. Yes. That makes sense.

Additionally, my whole family intends to get the vaccine as soon as possible. The 3 adults in our home are all Phase 1B and on lists to get it this month, we hope, and the one teenager has signed up for the Moderna Pediatric trial which should be starting in the next few weeks with a 50/50 chance of receiving the vaccine or a placebo. By now maybe you can tell which one we and the teenager are hoping for, but either way, glad to be helping to make this available for younger populations. My father has already received both doses through the VA and my stepmom has received the first dose. They are booked to travel with us on the August cruise.

I won't be surprised if the vaccine becomes a requirement in addition to all of this, once it has become available to most people and my biggest worry at this point is that kids won't be able to cruise if they don't get the vaccine that is not yet available to them.

Kudos to your son for joining the Moderna Pediatric trial! I love reading about responsible young people since the news media puts so little out there which is a positive fro this age group. My granddaughters are just turned teen and preteens, so I am concerned as well that we will not be able to cruise on a family trip in 2022. Since we have no say, and I abide by the rules, we will face that issue when it comes. My DSD has medical reasons, and MS and cannot have the vaccine and so there will not be a cruise in her future both for safety reasons and even if there is a waiver at some point. Our family  is fine with following the conditions so we can slowly return to cruise vacations.

I wonder when we will see a decrease in the Covid-19 deaths (or deaths attributed to Covid-19) as the vaccinations continue to increase, in the order of high risk groups, to over 35 million (of at least the first dose) to date; yet the deaths continue, never mind flatten or bend or even show signs of decrease yet?

Also, although I don't know if they will publish such, the number of deaths of people 'already vaccinated?

I have always felt that not all deaths attributed to COVID-19 are COVID. Why? No autopsy. It does not take away the seriousness of the loss of human life but it does give inaccurate data. Not a doctor, scientist, or anyone in the medical field just an opinion.

We just received our second shot yesterday (Moderna). Arm a little more sore than the first shot, but that is about it. It was very difficult to schedule our appointments but after much perseverance we were finally able to get it. I am hopeful that when more and more vaccines become available the process will be smoother.

Kaiser scheduled our second vaccine after our first one while we sat and waited the 15 minutes they wanted us to do after the vaccine. Seamless😃 Thanks for sharing your 2nd vaccine experience.

It is interesting but POA gets absolutely awful reviews on service.

Sadly the unhappy customer reports more than than the satisfied one. We met many nice and enjoyable employees on POA. I was hesitant at first base on some of the reviews to book but since my DD and DGD wanted to give it a try, we did. We had the best time! True, it is pricer than non US flagged ships but then food items etc are more to replenish in Hawaii. We did not meet any employee who did not smile or try to find an answer and most of all there was always a good morning etc. Though this has nothing to do with the original title of this post, I did feel I wanted to share my POA experience. And we will sail again on POA in 2022 with masks if it is required.

I'd cruise with these conditions, at least initially. Seems pretty reasonable all things considering. I hope that the cruise lines, in return, will not be forced to do ridiculous and unnecessary quarantines if a few folks end up catching covid despite best practices. Folks are getting it in the community (by the hundreds of thousands everyday) so it's not like it isn't already out there. They are also talking about opening more schools all over so there will be more community transmissions there as well.

They're not closing down big box stores/malls or making anyone who goes shopping quarantine so I hope there is some logical consistency and not a bunch of people just champing at the bit to crap on the industry the instant a few cases show up. Just like every other store, school, church, hotel, casino, airline, bus line etc etc etc. There WILL be some cases; question is, will the cruise lines be treated fairy (like other industries) or singled out and expected (like no other industry) to have a 100% covid negative report card in order to exist. Some community transmission is inevitable (no matter how cautious) and that's just a fact. Even with the best mitigation efforts. Hopefully we can move on to rational responses, rather than emotional or wishful.

Well said neighbor to the south of us. I recently said about the same thing to my friend and we both could not figure out why the brouhaha when it comes to cruising. We continue on traveling on city public transportation along with planes, trains etc to other states and there is not the same amount of scrutiny as cruise ship travel. Agreed we are on a floating hotel with the same people for a length of time, and I agree with monitoring the outside contact while on board but sometimes I wonder why the CDC is treating cruise ships differently than other modes of transportation.

  13. We have three Carnival cruises, all rebookings from cancellations. I don't mind the tests etc. but I am concerned about the what ifs and all of the other "spirits hiding under the bed". I decided to take a deep breath and just wait and see. If these three are canceled I will decide then what we will do. I also have a combo of GC and credit card payments and it was a hassle the last time we moved the bookings. Lesson take away: never use Carnival Gift cards when booking.

Can anyone tell me which room is larger on Panorama?  Also, do either of these cabins have a sofa bed?  Our Miracle cruise out of San Diego was cancelled today and we're looking for a replacement.  I love the aft view, but room for our diving gear also is important.  Thanks!

The Ocean Suite is bigger with plenty of storage room. The Ocean Suite has a sofa bed. If it is just two of you than enjoy the Havana Aft Balcony as you can also enjoy the Havana. I believe the Grand Suite is now also allowed Havana access. There a few YouTube videos of the Aft Havana Cabin and also the Ocean Suite.
