Don't  worry about it.  Been Platinum for over 10 years, it's not all it's  cracked up to be.  One of the two good benefits can be purchased by buying FTTF. (Dedicated line at customer service)

Agreed. Benefits are going one way. And that way ain't up! Platinum feels like what normal crusing should be. Not advanced and loyal customer service.

Who is losing thousands of dollars?  Are you talking about NCL raising prices?  The passengers aren't losing thousands....they are willing to pay more.  I wouldn't call that crazy at all...it's realistic.

If they go Bankrupt, your money down is Gone and it ain't coming back. Thats how you lose thousands. They are gambling that you will still book with them after losing some $2 K for example on next years cruise that you have already booked.

  3. The Beauty of bankruptcy for the cruise line is taking all the peoples deposits as stay afloat money.  They will come back leaner and ready to go and people will book again. Some people are so crazy about cruising that it will not depress them that they are losing thousands of dollars.

Cruising is occurring as you type.

I see Royal is still selling March sailings from the US which almost certainly won't occur. Now that doesn't seem to be honest.

If you want to cruise out of some other country perhaps, if you're American, they probably don't want you there.

This is my fourth cancellation and this time, I'm taking the cash and giving up $900 OBC. I will just rebook in the future if there is one.

Its a wise move. I don't see cruising in 2021 and if it ever happened, how fun would it be. Masks everywhere, including laying out like Vegas this summer. etc, etc.

If Carnival starts sailing this quarter or next, I doubt the interest rates are going to be an issue, because the Fed is content to keep interest rates near zero.

The principal, on the other hand, is still going to be a problem.

Yeah......NO. Doubtful to sail in 2021. This virus ain't going anywhere in America. You may be able to sail out of Europe in the off chance they let an American into their country.

DH and I each got the email with the free drink  package offer. (BTW, we have a current booking  Carnival Cruise for March 2022, Trying to decide if we should book anything before that or just put our money towards buying the drink package on our booked cruise.)  Interested in what everyone thinks is a safe date in 2021 book to reasonably expect semi-normal cruising?

I do not see anything normal on the OFF CHANCE cruising returns in 2021. I wouldn't book until 22 at the absolute earliest.

Don't listen to the people here who book / cancelled / book / cancelled / book like robots thinking Carnival is cruising in April / June / August etc.

You may not like this, but this person is right. Carnival is going to be cutting every corner and trying to maximize every profit when they return to cruising. They will have no choice.

Its going to be VERY different. Thats why I'm avoiding for a year +. Watching my Platinum benefits get gutted over the last 17 years I can't imagine what much of the cruise experience will have shrunk by the time they start up.

Eventually, but IMHO, not until 3rd or 4th quarter of 2021. We have two cruises booked next April that I don't have a warm fuzzy feeling about, even though they are from the two ports (Miami & Pt.Canaveral), and the two ships ( Horizon & Breeze) that Carnival will be restarting with. 😎

I wouldn't feel too warm and fuzzy either. April isn't going to happen. NOW the question is are you going to rebook 3 months later like BnBeyer and lamate over the cruises being cancelled?  I fully intend on waiting until cruising is , for most part, normal again. Probably 2022 at the earliest, likely 2023.

  10. I was really hoping by June or July we would be crusing. I am not getting on a ship until 2022 at the earliest, but I'm losing hope on cruising in 2021.

The will be enough vaccines to protect hospital workers by the end of this summer, not for vacationers.

At this rate, we'll be in a National Lockdown by January.

We're booked on Jan 10 Pride 14 day outta Baltimore for the Panama Canal. We've known for some time now this cruise wasn't gonna happen. Now, it's absolutely certain not to happen and still no word from Carnival. Wonder how long they're gonna make us wait for our money this time (May Bermuda cruise also canx).

Your money is earning interest for them. And Carnival is quite satisfied with that.
