Did they say how many of the unvaccinated were children or adults?

I meant to say 11 unvaccinated adults…he didn’t say how many unvaccinated children.

When there was confusion about having to test to get off in ST Maarten…the retreat concierge says I was not flagged as red( I believe that means unvaccinated) and there was around 40ish people that were flagged red

Were these adults? If you are an unvaccinated adult, you are mandated to wear a mask! What a shame that people disregard the rules.  They were allowed on the ship with specific restrictions, that need to be enforced.  It's good that at least 2 of the people you saw were compliant.

I was on the July 17th Sailing and I didn't see any wristbands, and only a few masks.  I was told all adults (over 16) were vaxxed, but have no idea if that was true.  I only saw a few teens/children wearing masks (I didn't see any wristbands on the kids/teens, so I don't know if they were required to wear them if too young to be vaxxed, or if they just removed them?)  I talked to a few vaccinated people by the pool who said they were still wearing their masks in crowded indoor places on the ship, due to health reasons. So just because someone has a mask on, doesn't mean they aren't vaccinated.

As many have said on these boards, issuing bands to the unvaccinated means they can simply remove them.  Not sure how they enforce masks at that point, especially in the theatre, etc.  There are supposedly sections for unvaccinated passengers, but I saw no such places, and no one asked me for my card to get into the theatre or the casino.  So how would they know who was unvaccinated if the person removed their band?? I didn't even really see anyone checking...

And just my opinion, they should consider requiring all the unvaccinated (including children) to wear masks indoors. There were many teens in crowded areas like Silent Disco, and The Club, no masks, and not sure who was vaxxed and who wasn't, but a lot of potential for spreading Covid if someone became infected. Right now, I think if you are under 16, masks are recommended, but optional.

I felt very safe on the cruise, almost like life was back to normal, which was amazing. It felt so good to be back on a ship!  Probably a little bit of a false sense of security with all that is happening now, and more vaccinated people getting infected. I am getting back on the ship this Saturday, and I'm definitely more nervous!  I really hope they step up the enforcement of masking for the unvaccinated, especially adults who know better and are purposely not complying.

I was on the 17th sailing as well…when I asked guest services they told me there was 11 unvaccinated passengers on board…who knows…

I didn’t see any bracelets all week..or sections of the theater designated for unvaccinated passengers…I was in the casino a lot and there was no way to monitor the flow of passengers in there.

I had an amazing time and felt like I was in a time warp..It was probably a false sense of security but I enjoyed it. The place I felt most uncomfortable was at the airport and the flight home…

We had an amazing time and hoping we are all safe. My DH had to get tested for a procedure and was negative…as well as my sister in law tested and was negative..

I wonder if they will start testing passengers at the port before they get on? Or require masks indoors..l guess only time will tell. Also will they continue to help passengers home if they test positive.

  3. We are booked on the Reflection in February in a Sky Suite…just got off the Edge on the  24th also in a SS…I have been contemplating switching to the Edge because of the difference in the Retreat benefits between the two ships… not even thinking the Reflection might not sail…now I am concerned that if the Reflection does cancel availability on the Edge will become much more limited and pricing will increase considerably. If I was sailing just with DH I would change but we are sailing with extended family who have great rates on Reflection since they booked onboard right when sailings were released so I doubt they will want to change.

When it comes to suite class....you can't compare to The Edge or Apex with the Retreat. And yes I have sailed suite on both Reflection and Edge.

That’s what I was afraid of..I would love to switch…I just don’t know if I can convince my sister in law..she booked it on board probably 2 years ago and has a great price..but the airfare is crazy since it is President’s week. Also I wonder how cruise with confidence works if I change my itinerary? I would think it would follow if I keep the same reservation number but that would be important.

  5. I just got off the Edge on the 24th. I absolutely loved the ship and the retreat. We were in a sky suite and thought the accommodations were wonderful. We are currently booked on the Reflection in February in an aft sky suite. I am concerned that I will be disappointed in certain things like no king size bed and no retreat sun deck. I hate searching for deck chairs on sea days. It was great not having to worry about it even though the suites were sold out. Has anyone sailed in both and what were there impressions. I have thought about switching to the Edge but we are traveling with family who booked a long time ago and has a great rate. At this point I am not convinced that the Reflection will sail in February so then I guess I will have to switch.

Celebrity is using the 95/5 rule.

    95% vaccinated

5% unvaccinated - so these passengers could be either adults or children.

I believe only on Florida cruises people will encounter unvaccinated adults because according to the healthy sail chart the vaccine is required for over 16 and over 12 starting Aug 1st. For the other ports of embarkation.

Celebrity has updated their travel requirements for St Maarten so that all passengers must be tested for covid on board if they would like to disembark in St Maarten. This is likely due to the St Maarten government requiring it after two unvaccinated passengers broke protocol on the current Edge sailing and entered St Maarten on their own instead of a ship excursion. You can see the update in the screenshot below and this link: https://www.celebritycruises.com/content/dam/celebrity/pdf/celebrity-healthy-at-sea-protocols.pdf

I’ll be on the 17th and this definitely makes the trip a little nerve wracking since there was previously no testing during the entire sailing for vaccinated guests. I’m vaccinated but consistently worried about a break through positive like what happened on the first Millennium. Time will tell!

This is frustrating…I might rethink getting off..was happy that we weren’t going to have to test one of the reasons I chose the Edge.

OP,  just curious how are they handling non-vaccinated passengers?  Are they isolated in the restaurants, bars, casino and other entertainment venues?

We’ve been on the Edge 4 times and the last was late January 2020.  If it’s any conciliation, on our last cruise the Eden show was one night/1hr and other entertainers the rest of the trip.  You’re not missing much.

Glad to here you are having a great time, continue to enjoy, thanks.

Yes…from the posters on board it doesn’t seems like there are separate sections with unvaccinated and vaccinated passengers…which is what I was originally expecting..but we keep getting emails for our 7/17 cruise which says there are…it’s all very confusing and I am a little uncomfortable with that…since there doesn’t seem to be any social distancing either…if unvaccinated passengers are sitting next to me in the theater unmasked I won’t be thrilled…

Anyone following along and enjoying, we are another Dink couple in our mid 30s, cruising July 17 and we'd love to meet some people. I see no roll call for our cruise.

We are going on the 17th sailing…we have a roll call going

    very excited to sail!!

We are sailing currently on the Edge.  We LOVE being back at sea,   But unfortunately the cutbacks are noticeable. No shows in Eden except for a band at night.   Ship is sailing with 60% crew. 15 min wait for an omelette at the buffet in the am. .  Lack of variety at the buffet (breakfast and lunch) while areas of buffet closed(sandwich station gone, no pasta station).  Dishes served at dinner with missing items.  Some dishes are still very good, others very pedestrian.  Service has been very hit and miss,  I know they are back for 2 weeks.  They are trying,  but the fact is I paid full price,  and the onboard product is not quite ready, especially for the rates Celebrity is asking.
If anyone has any questions will be happy to answer

    That’s disappointing to hear..

We are booked on the Edge on the 17th hearing news like this gives me pause…

I know that this is the start up and we have to go with the flow…but we are paying full fare and should expect good things…I was nervous about booking but did and now the rest of my party really wants to go so I would feel bad to say I don’t want to go anymore..

I wanted to go because of the promise of low capacity but if the crew is even lower that doesn’t work..now sort of regretting not sailing out of St. Marten they had 400 guests and 700 crew according to posters on board.

I also booked because it was advertised as a fully vaccinated cruise..now it’s 95% with bracelets..according to email from Celebrity different sections in dining room, theater and casino for unvaccinated passengers…

I know protocols change daily but I just want a safe and happy sailing ..wishing the same to all

    Welcome back to cruising!

We are in the second day of cruising with my dear wife! Feedback, so are:

    1. Embarkation:

    a. The ground crews at Terminal 25 are mostly very new and not familiar with the boarding process and procedures. If you are a suite holder, cut the lines and go to the  front and check in through the very expedited and wonderful boarding process. We were on board within 15-20 min of our arrival.

    B. The baggage handlers were awesome and knew their stuff. The green shirt Celebrity crew were helpful, but need more training.

    C. Room was ready as soon as we boarded at noon. Amazing!

    D. Luggage arrived by 2 pm. Nice!

    2. Cabin

    A. We stayed in a Celebrity Sky Suite and it was so worth the upgrade, we have stayed with inside cabins to now having The Retreat Suite cabin class access and it was so worth it.

    B. Amazing amounts of storage.

    C. Love he butler and cabin attendant.

    D. Bathroom with tub for two and separate commode room and double sink we awesome. The window/mirror looking out into the bedroom was wonderful.

    3. Staff

    A. Having a butler with Sky Suite was amazing. All we were missing was the Queen’s Corgis. John was beyond helpful at all times.

    B. The entire ships crew is excited and thrilled to have us back and we’re awesome.

    C. Captain Kate is truly one of the most accomplished leaders on the high seas! Honored to be on her second restart voyage!

    More to follow,

All our best, Heather and John

Thanks for your impressions. We are sailing on the 17th in a sky suite so I am excited to hear your experiences.

Did you have a line at Luminae for dinner. Someone posted that all the suites were sold out and they told them Luminae would be busy all week…also how is the retreat deck…did you experience any issues with chairs there.  Are they really monitoring if people are wearing the bracelets and asking people to wear masks if they don’t have them?

Have a wonderful cruise…sorry for all the questions…

Sure looks that way,  also looks easily adjustable…

Just confused why they are doing this as these are advertised as “fully vaccinated cruises “ (95%) are they separating people  this way like on Royal ? Are crew really going to see someone without a band and tell them to put a mask on. If they were using tracelets for contact tracing it would make more sense to me.

The person checking us in just handed it to us, so we adjusted it to be loose enough to be able take off. I saw others being put in by the staff and adjusted tightly. Call me a rebel, but a damp ribbon on my wrist all week is gross and I want to be able to not wear it.

So it’s just a bracelet to identify the vaccinated..it’s not a tracelet to help with contact tracing like they are giving out on the Summit and Millennium.
