Not sure if I saw this mentioned anywhere..as part of the check in process were people asked to show their vaccinated card in the terminal before they were allowed onboard?

Last week, the protocols for unvaccinated passengers were not followed. Unvaccinated passengers were openly disregarding masking requirements despite repeated public reminders. The crew were not ready to enforce those rules. Since the kids congregate together, the symptomatic kid could have passed the virus along to his friends who could become covid-positive by the time they are flying back home.
That’s disappointing that protocols for unvaccinated passengers were not being followed. You would think at the beginning they would have been on top of it.

Celebrity literally has no choice but to sail 95% vaccinated as they did not complete a required test cruise with the CDC.
But right now I believe that expires on the 18th of July …hopefully it continues

Celebrity PR really needs to address this…nowhere in these articles does it say that the ships will sail 95% vaccinated…which I am hoping is true because we are booked on the July 17th sailing and only booked because they said it was a fully vaccinated cruise.

I received an email solicitation for a free balcony for up to 4 people on the June 26 Edge sailing about an hour after the preliminary injunction was announced.
Coincidence?
But the CSO is still in effect until July 18th

I read/interpret Celebrity's guidance for Florida based departures differently. I read it as NOT applying the 95/5 rule to Florida departures as it does not address meeting a threshold of unvaccinated guests, nor does there appear to be a denied boarding policy if the 5% threshold is exceeded, nor does it require those wishing to cruise w/o a vaccine to apply pre-departure for an exemption (As Carnival is doing) to qualify for the 5% threshold. I instead reading it as ANYONE wishing to sail unvaccinated may do so if they agree to comply with additional rules/restrictions as a result.
They need to sail 95% vaccinated because they did not do test cruises. If they do not sail 95% vaccinated they will not have permission to sail from the CDC.- 1

I had hoped that Celebrity would of sailed 100% vaccinated and taken their chance in court…I just can’t imagine the crew enforcing the unvaccinated wearing masks and separate areas in dining rooms..seems like it could get difficult..it seems like adding additional stress for everyone that is not needed.
I am booked on the July 17 Edge. I am hoping all goes well on the cruises before me…because based on reports I might not want to sail and I really want to.

Any news from onboard from the rest of the testing?

This just isn't good but let's see how they handle the situation.

So how did they get tested? If you are vaccinated there shouldn’t be a need to test. Was this the test that they perform in order to get off the ship?
Also St Maarten I believe just said they want those disembarking to have a test within 48 hours.

Interesting news about now requiring a COVID test 48 hours before arriving to ST Maarten. I am booked on the 7/17 Edge and ST. Maarten is on day 5. I wonder if we will have to have 2 tests on board or will they flip the itinerary and test everyone at the terminal.

With regards to Celebrity requiring a vaccine to sail and Florida not allowing you to ask..I watched the webinar from yesterday on a YouTube channel and the woman said “it’s on us” to make sure that we sail 95% vaccinated but did not say how they were going to do it even when questioned by the travel agents on the call.
-
Does anyone really know how they will verify that 95% of passengers are vaccinated. I just watched part of the travel agent webinar on a cruise content
youtube channel and it was not explained at all.
She basically said it’s on us…what does that mean? When are they going to let us know what they are doing. It’s probably the reason we can’t check in for our cruise on the Edge next month.
I would think they would be more transparent with their travel agents and passengers. Unless they don’t know yet….
-
Does anyone know if there was clarification on the call as to where passenger would provide their vaccination card?
I’m curious how NCL and Carnival are going to handle their cruises out of Florida in terms of verifying vaccination status.
-
Can’t the CDC rescind the approval to sail since Celebrity will not be checking to see if passengers are vaccinated. This is all very disappointing. I really thought that they would want to verify vaccination status of their passengers. That is how they promoted the sailings.
-
Not happy about this…i don’t understand how this will work. Are they saying you have to upload your vaccination card at check in. Is anyone going physically going to look at it???
I don’t think I would of booked the Edge under these circumstances.
I thought all eligible adults would be vaccinated.
If you are not vaccinated…how do you know if you fit into that 5% to get on board?
-
Still confused after watching the video…he first says we will follow the law of the land but then goes on to say that they will ensure that on Celebrity that 95% will be vaccinated…how are you going to do that unless they ask for vaccine cards..
I am booked on the 7/17 Edge and will not sail unless it is a vaccinated cruise.

We would definitely be canceling our July 17th Edge cruise if the vaccination policy is changed.

Some other things worth noting-
Celebrity is testing for COVID at the check in location so if your test is not valid, you can take one. I don’t know how much it costs.
The crew is serving us at the buffet. It’s actually very nice and I would be ok if it stayed like that forever. For 1- it’s a lot cleaner and 2- I eat a lot less 😅
The muster drill you watch on the tv in your cabin and then proceed to your muster station where they show you how to put on a life jacket. They scan your card and then give you a green sticker to put on your room card to show you complete the briefing.
Other than this, that’s pretty much all to report. When I first boarded it felt surreal to be back. Now that I’ve been on for a few hours, it feels like I never left and I’m back at home.
It’s nice to talk to the crew and share in the excitement with them. “This is the first drink I’ve made for guests in 15 months” one said to us at the Rendevous Lounge.I’ll get to answering your questions and I’ll update any significant changes about sailing and what it’s like once we arrive in each port.
Thanks for all the updates. What are the health and safety protocols on board? Do passengers have to wear masks? What about social distancing? We are booked on the Edge in July so it is so exciting to see a ship set sail.

See post #73.
I read that. I just feel like someone from Celebrity should of read the legislation before they announce the ship and cruises being sold. It just looks careless.

This is so confusing. How could they make this kind of error. It makes me a little concerned about the restart. We just booked the 7/17 Edge sailing. I am now concerned that it might be too soon and they haven’t really figured out what to do about the executive order regarding not asking for proof of vaccination.
-
Just booked the July 17th sailing on the Edge. This was a totally spontaneous decision. I never thought I would be comfortable sailing this summer. I hope they get this settled soon. I will only sail if they can check vaccine status and that the CDC guidelines of 95% are met. Hopefully we will know soon.
-
Just booked the Edge for the July 17th sailing. Hoping to hear more about health and safety protocols soon. It will be interesting to hear back once the Millennium sails on Saturday. I know that are sailing from St Marten but it will just be nice to see how they are doing things. For our cruise there are only 2 excursions listed for St Thomas. I’m hoping they add more or we will be allowed to explore on our own.
