The Edge has 16 single occupancy cabins and the Apex has 24.  I didn't see an itinerary  on either of those ships for 2021 that included both Spain & Portugal, maybe I missed it.

The Infinity does do some Spain & Portugal cruises but the Infinity does not have any single cabins.  That may be where the communication breakdown occurred.

APEX has a 15 day TA, supposed to sail May 1, 2021 it includes Spain and Portugal, among others.  I am booked on this cruise...

Our cruise in April '21 on Edge (fingers crossed) will be our first in a suite.    We don't believe in tipping....we believe in OVER tipping.   What is an appropriate tip for a good butler for a 7 day cruise??    I understand from the thread that their job is very different from the state room attendant, but I have no idea if they should be tipped on par, or more, or less than a cabin attendant.

    TIA

I am def with you, I over tip.  I use the butler services a lot...after I introduce myself, I give him/her $50.  On the last night I give $100.  Again, I use their amazing service a lot

I once attended a staff training at my company put on by an offshoot of Ritz Carlton.  The Ritz Carlton Institute.  The big takeaway for me was that a service-oriented company should not be interested in customer satisfaction.  "Satisfaction" is much too low a bar.  Customer Delight is the aim...exceed the client's expectations before the client even knows what to expect.  It sounds like your butler (and the server) did just that.   A perfect testimonial for NCL and the Haven.  I haven't tried it, but know from a loyalist it is a super experience.

Butler is the most amazing part of the cruise for me!  He/she works incredibly hard and I have never had one complaint.  I am usually in a suite with a good size balcony, I take my breakfast there every morning, hang out until lunch then go to one of the small cafes for lunch, dinner and cocktails on balcony every night as well.  The first time I ever experienced a butler suite, I was honest with him and I told him I wasn't really sure what he could do.  He asked me a few of my preferences while on board, what I like to do etc.  Once I told him, he said perhaps you can make me a written schedule of what you like and I will make sure to take care of you!  I did the breakfast and dinner list for him, and I never had to ask again, he would magically appear every morning at the time he said he would, same for dinner.  I was hooked from that point and will never cruise again without.  I also tip at the beginning of the cruise, then I hand him more cash on the last night.  Trust me if you have never cruised this way, it is well worth it, TIP TIP TIP!!!
