Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Thank you all for your help. I'll report back when our trip is over!
  2. Thank you! That's exactly what I needed to know!
  3. Silly question, I know, but has anyone been on the Venus and seen hot chocolate available? Either in packets in the buffet or in a machine somewhere or served? Was just thinking about being cozy as I watch Norway pass by covered in snow on our upcoming cruise and it occurred to me that hot chocolate would be a perfect accompaniment!
  4. Thank you all for the information....sounds like I should be fine with the Viking teas but perhaps will include a couple English Breakfast bags just in case! 😊
  5. I suppose it might be the same on all the Viking Ocean vessels but I was wondering what types/brands of teabags are available in the dining venues? I usually travel with a few teabags as I'm not a COMPLETE tea snob but some hotels have dreadful teas in their breakfast areas. Was just wondering what Viking uses....and I'm not referring to the teas on the menu for afternoon tea (those look wonderful!) Thanks for any feedback from fellow tea-lovers!
  6. We will be stopping in Alta on the Viking Venus' sailing of February 29. Does anyone know if there is a Viking provided shuttle from the port into downtown? Viking chat agent could not answer the question but said their policy is usually to provide a shuttle if the walk into town is more than 15 minutes (which would be the case in Alta). Just looking to see if anyone has information or firsthand knowledge. Thanks!
  7. Thank you for the replies. I will remember to report back here after our sailing to let others know what our experience is. Hoping for the best in terms of weather, aurora sightings and getting back onboard in Alta! 😊
  8. We are booked on the Viking Venus sailing on January 23rd this year and it just occurred to me that our documents show Alta as a tender port. We have a private Shore Excursion booked on night one that will get back to the ship around midnight. We are overnight that night in Port and I thought that would be fine. However, it has occurred to us that we don't know the times that the tenders will run and I'm guessing they don't run all night long. Has anyone been in Alta with tenders that can look at their information and see what the hours they run are? I would much appreciate any information anybody has to share. I don't want to have to worry about canceling last minute because it turns out the tenders stop running at say 11:00 p.m. Thanks!
  9. Excuse my belated thanks to all for responding to our question here - holidays were wonderful but hectic! Thank you for the information - we will hopefully figure another way to enjoy what should be some wonderful photos on our upcoming Northern Lights cruise. 🙂
  10. Getting ready for our first sailing on a Viking Ocean ship; husband was asking me if I knew if the tvs in the staterooms have a USB port on them that you can access where you can plug in your own flashdrive to watch movies or look at pictures from your camera. Thought perhaps someone else on here might know the answer. Anybody done this? We can certainly watch on our devices but we really like looking at our pictures each day on the big screen of the tv if possible. Thanks!
  11. Thanks for this picture, makes it clear for me. If I've got room, I might just take mine with me for future cruises....just in case I can take it easy like you did! 🙂
  12. Hold up! I have a hammock like this one for my hiking and some camping trips. Never considered taking it on my cruises....how do you attach it securely enough to support your weight in it? No trees on the balcony that I can see....LOL
  13. Hi, everyone! My husband and I are booked on this TA and looking forward to it! Haven't sailed Carnival in many, many years but the Venezia and this unusually timed TA convinced us to try it. It should be a wonderful trip....we love TAs. Now to get checking on shore excursions. Have been to all the ports several times with the exception of Gibraltar and Lisbon.....can't wait! 😊
  14. Sid, many thanks for such a wonderful review and read! Enjoyed the journey with you and am now seriously anticipating my June cruise on the Prima even more....Safe journey home! PS To my Fellow Reader who clued me in on what I now know to be caper berries, THANK YOU! They are magic!
  15. Sid, I will be on the Prima in June in Northern Europe and am thoroughly enjoying this thread....many, many THANKS for a wonderful read! But if I may ask you, what is that green, sliced in half pepper looking garnish on your steak tartare?!? I was on NCL Joy last summer and had one as a garnish and I loved it! My mistake in not asking the waiter what it's called and I've not been able to figure it out since. Google could not figure out what I was talking about...lol
