Tricky photo - fooled me. 😉

Well then ... the only other place that I have ever seen gondola rides offered is in New Orleans (there are probably many other places as well).

Have absolutely no idea where your photo was taken. Will await identification from others more knowledgeable than I. 🙂

You were on the right continent the first time😁

Actually - I fooled myself. I didn't immediately recognize where it was but my iPhone has it tagged in Photos. After further investigation - I realized I shouldn't question my iPhone!

It is somewhat prominent, right?? 😇  I swear that I missed probably the coolest thing about this building. I only spent one day here.

Hey - don't send me any snow!!

It is beneath the Munich Glockenspiel. Here's a pic even more "uncropped"

John A Roebling Suspension Bridge in Cincinnati, Ohio?

    Ohio River....?

The bottom flag looks very much like the state flag of Ohio. So I googled suspension bridges in Ohio and looked for the oldest one that's still standing. Also knowing where Robin lives I'd say this is a suspension bridge between Kentucky and Ohio.

The John A. Roebling suspension bridge over the Ohio River (linking Cincinnati OH and Covington KY) is old and historic so it's a likely candidate for her to post. And I found a picture of it which matches up pretty well. So that's my final answer.

This was the longest suspension bridge in the world when it was opened in 1866, until Roebling built the Brooklyn Bridge 20-some years later. Looks like a fun place to visit - Robin, do you give tours?

Coral, yes. The Roebling Suspension Bridge, between CIncinnati and Covington, KY. The bottom flag is the OH flag. They have been doing repair work, this the large tarp.
In addition to JP’s wonderful summary, it is known locally as the “singing” bridge. And I’m happy to give tours-there’s a brewery nearby, wineries a little further south, and bourbon a little south of them!

:classic_biggrin: I am flabbergasted! :classic_biggrin: I certainly did not expect that! It is indeed Riquewihr in Alsace, one of the villages typical of a tour around the wine-growing area. The photo is of the outer side of the village after you have walked through the upper town gate. From there we went to a vintner's, interrupted his lunch and bought some Edelzwicker wine.

The decoration is certainly nicer in your photo. @acwmom which year did you go? We were there in 2019.

    Over to you.

    The year before, in 2018!

I am afraid this one is a more straightforward, standard choice. As we celebrate Easter Monday here, have a look at this photo with some slightly abstract Easter decorations. Please guess the river that you would cruise on to see this place and the name of the village, yes, I would like you to go through the "grand tour of villages" in this area in your head to find the right one:DSCN2077.thumb.JPG.e2e63e7b0312e2b87935a731d3784937.JPG

Riquewihr, France, an excursion from the Rhine.  Here is my Easter photo of the same place.

Did you get the daily text questionnaire from vsafe.cdc.gov?  That tells me my info is in the national database, which is probably what IATA etc. will want to link to.

Actually, 2 different sites. The Vsafe is optional. I encourage everyone to register, so we can measure true side effects. State (or jurisdictional) registries are totally different.

OK, since nobody else has jumped in yet, and it's my birthday tomorrow, I'll go ahead and name the site.

This is the "Queen's Hamlet" or L'hameau de la Reine in the gardens at Versailles. It's a cute little place to stroll through and we enjoyed it. But you'll never see it if you're on a standard tour I suspect, because there isn't time to see the palace and the gardens and all of the fountains, and the Trianons, and then come here too.

But it's a fun place. They grow grapes for wine, so it's my kind of hamlet!

And, here's the building in Robin's picture of the reflection. It was a bit windy when we were there I guess, so no nice reflections for us. It's supposed to be a mill.

We did Versailles separately from Paris, before a 2012 cruise. Flew to CDG, took the RER directly to Versailles, and stayed right there (a nice Ritz-Carlton near the park gate). We had pretty much two full days to explore the grounds and we went all over. Very nice way to start a vacation (what is a vacation again?)!

Happy Birthday! You are correct. Uniworld offered a tour of the Petit Trianon along with the Hamlet. The Queen’s House was being renovated when we were there. Kind of took away from the ambiance. Over to you!

Oh, yes, a half pint in a pub tonight would be lovely. Alternatively a "Schuß", that is with us a Pils with a shot of dark (malted and low in alcohol) beer, in a beer garden would be nice. Beer garden season is starting soon, alas not this year. Perhaps in a few trial areas chosen by the government.

I think I’ve shared this before, but this is my “view” from my desk. I can’t tell you how calming it is, and how happy it makes me. (It would even keep me calm if there were crowds, but this is an early morning photo)

Interesting. They say beer doesn't travel well - at least English beer does not taste as good here from my fridge. So they are undecided a bit about the effect on wine. I can with assurance say that the price makes my head spin without drinking the wine!

I have friends from Vermont, NY, and California who ship me beer regularly. As long as the canned date is recent (at least for IPAs) it remains pretty tasty! But, there's nothing like having it on tap.

The cruise company is overly optimistic,  and oh, such a tease.  I would love to get a 50% discount.  I've saved so much money this past year by not being able to go anywhere, and then to have a great offer dangled in front of me and know it isn't realistic.  Not fair..  I am pouting. 😉

I see it more as a marketing ploy. Payment in full at time of booking, and current cancellations only being able to get FCC. Thus, you book, they cancel, they keep your money, and anything in the future you book is going to be a lot more. If they would have made this good for more than just June, I would think otherwise, but I think they realize that cruising in June is unlikely, and this is a way to make money.

While the deal is good (and actually one they offered years ago, in non-pandemic times, to RHC members) I'm not inclined to book.
