  1. Exactly. So...could be noisy...
  2. Ah - service lift workings TO the kitchen from store rooms below I think we've cracked it
  3. I thought service lift, but it's only on that deck. No similar spaces on outside walls on any other deck (outside space being more valuable than inside as cabins fetch more). Plenty of white space on the insides of all decks and that one for kitchens etc. Very interesting. I can check in 46 days... It is directly above Britannia kitchen so may be to do with extractors etc? Good spot for the balcony
  4. Can have just about anything you want for breakfast. The menus are huge, and you can order off menu.
  5. True, the OP can do both and compare. Need to get to QR early (we liked a seat by the windows to watch the sea go by feet below)
  6. The food recommendations are probably the a la carte options that you need to pre-order at Breakfast or Lunch. Dover Sole, Lobster Thermador, Beef Wellington, Rack of Lab, and others... for a short cruise not sure I'd bother with the Steakhouse (extra cost)
  7. Agree - Grills Lounge is really quite dull, though VLogs report that it has been refurbished somewhat
  8. I much preferred the Queens Room for tea.
  9. Castle much better seen in the evening, but can' t do that on a cruise. whilst we were there last May at the Belem tower one of the Holland America pinnacles sailed past - at about midday - and it was leaving that afternoon - I'd be really annoyed with such a rubbish schedule: Lisbon needs much more than a day, let alone a few hours... but that's the problem with cruising...There aren't many cities that I'd want to visit for just a few hours - Ok, Bergen in June is 6 hours, but Bergen is not Lisbon...
  10. Much more fun to measure it at sea... Pretty sure Cunard will have got it right - it's not difficult. QM2 is longer, but has more ship behind the promenade deck at the stern and more in front at the bow
  11. You are also assuming that the bow in front of the circuit is the same. I expect it isn't - QM2 will have more ship in front of the promenade - the QA bow is much stubbier Quite likely QA is longer (QA below, QM2 deck plans don't shows the extent of the bow whilst showing promenade)
  12. Interesting. Makes sense - i always thought those going the "wrong" way on QM2 were being awkward but I see why now
  13. The circuit on QA probably goes nearer the bow (the QM2 has a looong bow), and definitely goes much nearer the stern. Could easily account for the 72ft difference.
  14. I guess that's one of the trade offs in the Pinnacle design - better obstructed balconies and the expense of the promenade deck. Wondering if these 6 are the best of this type? or at least 4056, 4057, 060, 4061
  15. Walking up to the Castle Richard?
  16. +1 for reasons to go Grills then!
  17. Looks good to me. And very quiet - is it cold today or something?
  18. How is the Grills terrace area policed?
  19. That's a very interesting take - you can do a fair bit of speciality dining* for the difference between balcony and BC or BC and PG We are on PG 7 weeks from now - I do like the bigger cabin though obviously PGs on anything else than QM2 are just stretched Britannias. The Grills deck does look good though (*probably every evening if you wanted to...in which case little point in doing BC!)
  20. Are these parties only for Platinum and Diamond?
  21. @exlondoner yes it was a good review and yes the ship looks great. Hopefully everything will be running smoothly in 7 weeks' time as the restaurants sound a bit overwhelemed at the moment Here is a rather tipsy Jamie reviewing the Indian restaurant as much as the ship...The food looks fantastic
  22. Another review. Though I don't think INfamous is the right word for the Queens Room and Golden Lion. Also isn't it Mr Brainwash in Clarendon, not Banksy. (Very dangerous that gallery - cost me as much as the cabin on QM2 TA)
  23. Out in Cambridge on a glorious spring morning before the tourist hordes arrive. Tourists eh… wouldn’t catch me being one… oh…
  24. That makes sense; the PG price for the Canaries did seem cheap. Maybe it’s a bit less per 7 days on 14 day cruises anyway. Should be.
