Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Thanks for all the replies. I do whatever my handler tells me to do. She packed all my nice pants away and said you’re wearing shorts and a tropical shirt. Bags are ready to go. Dinner is at six.
  2. Thank you for the response. I should have mentioned we are supposed to have our bags out by 8pm. Which seems very early.
  3. I’m currently on the Discovery. Tomorrow is the last night of the cruise. I know everyone has different opinions about how to dress in the MDR. I try to follow the dress to impress policy. I have heard the official policy is more lenient on the first night of the cruise because people may not be able to get to their bags. With the understanding that I do try to dress according to the policy, is it appropriate to be lax and dress in shorts on the final night since my bags will all be packed and in the hall? This is not intended to be a general dress code discussion. Just wondering if the last night is considered different. Thanks in advance
  4. I did a 10 day mid September cruise in 2022. The sunsets are earlier. Because of the longer times in most ports, the ship traveled mainly in the dark. I had a balcony, but I felt like I missed a lot of scenery due to the after sunset traveling. Otherwise, it was great. If I go again, I'd like to go earlier in the year.
  5. Thanks for the info. I'm mainly going to the MDR because I'm being directed by my boss. The menu does not dazzle and was hoping the burger would be recommendable. I like the orange soufflé, though.
  6. I'll be on the Discovery in a few weeks. I'll likely be eating lunch in the MDR on embarkation day. I don't think I've seen a review of the hamburgers in the MDR. How are they?
  7. Thanks for the responses. I figured there wasn't much that could be done, but was hoping for some type of cruiser folk remedy. I believe my wife has used Bonine to combat seasickness, so I may give it a shot.
  8. My wife and I have only been on one cruise (10 days to Alaska). After the cruise, we experienced the feeling of motion for at least a full week. It was fairly severe and discomforting. According to the internet this is called Mal de débarquement syndrome and there isn't really a way prevent it. Motion sickness has never been a problem for me, but my wife has experienced it on amusement park rides, car rides, etc. We have another 10 day cruise coming up in April and I'd rather not experience this again. Any remedies that have worked for the more experienced cruisers? Thanks for any information.
  9. It was inside the Alaska book sold in the gift shop. It was fun using it to try to figure out where we were.
  10. Question for the people that had the non shiny version of the dome: How did it taste? Did it taste like the shiny type?
  11. This is what I had on the Majestic in September. It was super good
  12. Thanks for posting your review. I thought I read somewhere that the Hollywood pool was adults only. I wonder if that changes for Alaska because of the weather or I’m misremembering (likely). Were children allowed in the actual Conservatory too?
  13. Thanks for the response. The baked Alaska parade was one of the reasons I agreed to dress up for a formal. Too bad it’s not being done
  14. There hasn't been a lot of information posted about the Majestic in Alaska. I'm more interested in the life on the ship than port info, but any information provided will be much appreciated. How has it been on the ship? How are the dining rooms / buffets / other food? Are the shows any good and what are they? Any tips to help enjoy the ship more? Good hang out places, places to see the scenery, etc? Does the Baked Alaska Parade still happen? When and what time? How many passengers have been on different sailings? What is the Covid concern level of passengers and crew? Thank you and safe travels.
